    I listened this track for the first time when I was riding my bike throught the city at dusk. I shed a tear or two back then because the music, the moment, the atmosphere was so perfect and so beautiful.

    The way sound makes me feel will never stop amazing me. Your music has made me a better person. It's made me think on my actions and realise what's most important. Love. There's too little of it in the world, when it's the easiest emotion for us to feel. But your music lights the way for me, and always wakes me up again, when a loveless world gets me down. Thankyou.

    My name... is Sam. I suppose you could say this is the end of things. At this current moment in time, I may very well be the last human being alive. We came so far... our people, our cultures... We were the most exceptional burst of chaos on our little world. In the span of just a century, we pushed so far beyond what science came before. We leapt into the unknown, into the vastness of space, to make claim to the most magnificent journey. But our pursuit of the unknown damned us. We became sick, an unstoppable bug that destroyed our people. Our food dwindled. Our hopes and dreams were dashed against the rocks. It came from space, so they said. It took everyone. Everyone... but me. One from seventeen billion. The world is dark. The colonies are dark. The empty skies stare down at me every damn day. I hear my children laughing in the tide coming against the shore. This is the end of days. Come tomorrow, I'm chasing the Sun down the horizon... and I'm not gonna stop. I'm recording this... I'm recording this, so that maybe, someone will come along and find us... see what we were. See how we were. I-... I can't...
    If my kids are still alive... if you find this... Daddy loves you very much. So much... I'm so proud of you. So proud...

    I will probably sound like an intense stoner with this comment but what the hell.... So last night I was smoking (yes this is somewhat of a stoner comment) and I put this song on on my television. Between the lights in the video and the song, at one point I began thinking really intense thoughts about death and the afterlife. Not in a depressing way, which was very surprising to me because I have suffered with depression my entire life. I am not religious either. However, whatever I experienced between the smoking, this song and video, felt like an out of body experience. The more i had the thoughts of how when we die, we are just simply energy and we have been all along so no one ever actually DIES. We just simply travel somewhere else and leave our body. The more i continued these thoughts, i got an energy like feeling inside me. It was extremely powerful and its like I had just died and was consumed by (not a god or a deity) but some neverending energy that basically calmed me and let me know it was there. The only thing i could compare it to is the intense fear you'd have dying, but then you are immediately comforted and told that we will never stop existing. We just eventually leave our physical selves behind, but all the energies of those we ever love and ourselves stay with us forever. It was something I never experienced while smoking (and yes just smoking weed) and I definitely attribute it to this song and the way the lights in the video resonated with me while i was high. It was amazing, and it actually helped me feel happiness which is something very rare with someone who battles depression. I will never forget about this experience. Reading back, it sounds crazy, but this is what happened and the best way I can explain it.

    • @jasonmero2245
      @jasonmero2245 6 лет назад +11

      Cherish it and remember it. These experiences are not given to many. In days long gone we would have called it enlightenment, vision-quest, speaker of spirits. Today you're "just" a stoner.
      Or as they would say in modern science: the music made use of certain rhythms and tones to alter your brain-frequency from it's normal day-to-day beta-dominant to alpha-dominant. But, you mentioned depression; depression is characterized as too much theta and/or too little gamma and beta waves. Now add the smoking: generally speaking the smoking will decrease your brain activity from beta to more alpha-dominant.
      And now that's where the "magic" happens: you gave your brain a triple whammy:
      - music that alters the dominant brain frequency
      - drugs that alter the dominant brain frequency
      These effects will significantly lessen the "depressed" characteristics of the wavelengths in your brain. Thereby strengthening the effect of the music and the smoking, hence creating a self-propagating system to get your brain in >95% alpha-dominant.
      What that does? Well psychologically speaking you are then able to connect both your conscious and your subconscious mind. So you're able to use your full brain capacity, connecting your conscious and subconscious mind ánd your intellectual and emotional mind. Every single part of your brain connected, aware and functional.
      And that's absolutely fucking awesome because thousands if not millions of people throughout history have spend their entire lives searching for exactly thát experience. I could go on forever and ever but I'll turn this into a full-blown lecture.
      Suffice to say: you're nót "just a stoner", you experienced something truly special which we used to call magic but that we can now explain. Now your "quest" is set out before you: let your brain do that again. Only now without the smoking and the music. That's your holy grail right there. So get out there and find it. I believe you can do it.
      I have to believe you can, or why else would I be searching for it myself...

      @@jasonmero2245 I come back to read your comment when i need a reminder of everything. I read it long ago and have forgotten to properly thank you for your description of everything because it gave me such a more in depth look at the experience. As of now, i can do this every time i smoke, am in the right mind and listen to this song or others by Hammock. There is certainly something in the tones and wave lengths of Hammocks songs that resonate with me in some way when i smoke. I love all music when i smoke, even some i'd find shitty when sober. But with this... It's different somehow. I don't know if my experience has EVER been as intense as that first time but i can still certainly do this with such intensity when i want and it will at times have me literally crying without realizing it, tears streaming down my face but not from unhappiness. Its like an actual beautiful energy is squeezing life into me. I dont know, everything is so crazy. Things like this make me realize how much our brains are capable of, how much our energy is capable of and just so much out there that we are totally unaware of. Thank you so much for taking the time to give me that insight. I loved reading it and if you ever have anymore knowledge to drop here, id love to listen. I hope you get to experience this feeling some day. One day when you smoke, sit down and watch this and listen and really just tap into yourself and feel everything in you. If you ever do experience it, there will be something about you that always looks back to this and makes you feel a different way.

    • @OceanMetTheSky
      @OceanMetTheSky 5 лет назад

      @Nate Ladd Well I disagree. Maybe meditation is the route to enlightenment for some and maybe for others, weed is. But sure the "happiness" wont be the same once you are sobered up, but the experience like this wont ever go away. And it puts your mind in a permanently different place even when you are no longer higher if you reach this level of feeling. If you can get to what i am describing via meditation, more power to you. But i know with this, nothing else has ever gave me a comparable feeling. This wasn't just "weed" this was a combination of multiple things that came together to reach another head space and feeling.

    this reminded me of the deafly silence in my old apartment just after a breakup to years ago. and how the silence sucked all the light out off the room. the lonelyness that takes all joy out of everything. looking at pictures of us, and just wishing you could go back to that moment. when time stood still. i cried listening to this as it all came back. music is truely macical. it makes supresed memories come to life again, and describes them better you can with words. its long gone now, so suprised me, that this could bring that fealing back for a few minuts... it also makes me think of how lucky i was to have met her, and to have her in my live, for a litlle. i am truly happy she found someone new, she deserves the best, and if he feals just half as loved as i did, he is a lucky man. how can music make you so sad and so happy at the same time? .wow! amazing.!

    This song actually played in a Halloween playlist on pandora and now it reminds me of last Halloween when I was doing a scene in a haunted hayride. It reminds me of walking down the trail in the middle of the night while it was raining and seeing my scene with Halloween candle lights in the distance. I was dressed up as Billy the puppet from saw and my scene was to chase the trailer full of people with a chainsaw. I already can’t wait for this next Halloween.

    I don’t comment on these types of videos often, but your work is truly an art form. When I listen to this song, it reminds me of two lovers giving their all. Their hearts, their bodies, their souls in one or multiple instances of pure love. Maybe it’s the romantic in me that has deep down been craving that feeling due to having a lack of it in my life, and in the romantic relationships I have formed. I’m not going to lie, last year and with what has happened recently in Washington have really tainted my faith in people. However, I know that love still exists...and I know that this year through all the bullshit will have good things in store for me and everyone going through a rough patch. Everyone, stay safe during these times...our time to shine is coming soon.

    Loss isn't an excuse to give up. Loss is something to use in order to find something new. There is something out there you need to find. Its actually deep inside of you. It's something that can light the way. Believe me I've seen it. I have it. I know you can find it. Just whatever happens. Don't fall back. Don't stop trying to get somewhere. In the middle of this nowhere.

    I don't know why this song reminds me of the ocean. The dark waves crashing against the cold shore. The stillness of the water under the stars. The feeling of the water around you, holding you. The feeling of the sand.

      Reminds me of our thirst of infinite truth, unchanged beauty and eternal love. that´s for me the dark waves, and the stillness of the water under the stars

    Lightbulbs that swing and light to the rhythm of music would make an excellent art installation :3 This has possibly been done before but still! The strings could differ in length and the bulbs could have weights on them making them swing differently.

    Those that don't understand call it depressing music, but that's because they've not yet overcome their pain or repressed emotions. For this music inspires one, and brings feelings of hope...
