Great job Tom, very few people even know this is on the Balot. We need to be informed of this types of changes in our NYS constitution! There are so many loopholes in this amendment if it passes. Unfortunately his examples of situations are already happening. We have choice this… amendment will take the choice of many away.
The opposition to this prop and the public education on it has been abysmal to nonexistent and as a consequence it will pass easily. *I* didn't even know what it meant until i just looked into it now and I'm unusually interested in opposing the gender cult nonsense. It's going to pass.
What a gross misinterpretation of the amendment. I am not sure if this is just purposeful fear mongering or this guy really believes what he is saying but my goodness. Just do a little work on what discrimination means, what other equal rights clauses say in other states and even federally.
Proponents Falsely Claim Prop 1 Is Needed To Protect Abortion. New York legalized abortion in 1970 and is not under threat of repeal. Further, the word abortion does not appear in the amendment language as it does in all other U.S. state proposals protecting abortion rights. Instead, it uses broad terms ('pregnancy outcomes' ) leaving much to judicial interpretation. Even so, Prop 1advocates are legally challenging the language that the NYS Board of Elections drafted for the ballot. They claim the drafted language which voters will see MUST NOT use the exact words of the amendment and instead use words that do not appear in the amendment: Abortion and LGBTQ+. Prop 1: The Truth. School administrators will discuss gender changes with children without parental knowledge and will administer medications without parental consent. Biological boys can participate in girls' sports and shower in female locker rooms. Migrants will receive New York taxpayer benefits. Parental Rights: Prop 1's irresponsibly drafted language will create "new" constitutional rights resulting in removal of parental consent from decisions impacting their children. Prop 1 covers "gender identity", "gender expression" and all persons (e.g., minor children) and will grant minor children the right to transgender and other types of medical interventions - all without parental notification/consent. A law for treatment of STDs without parental consent is already under consideration in Albany. Parents will remain legally responsible for managing emotional and physical results impacting their minor children without the prior knowledge of what had been administered/discussed. Governor Hochul and the legislature enacted a law to protect minors from abuse on social media. That she is a proponent of Prop 1 makes no sense. The 2023 NYS Department of Education guidance states that schools cannot inform parents of a child's decision to transgender unless and until a minor child agrees to involve his or her parents. European regulatory authorities reversed initial policy recommendations, cautioning a more conservative approach to gender affirming care. New York politicians disregard science. Boys in Girls' Sports: Prop 1 will force schools to include biological males on female sports teams, jeopardizing the fairness of athletic scholarships. It will compel shared locker rooms and bathrooms and make it nearly impossible to reverse 2024 NYS Department of Education regulations allowing boys on girls' sports teams based on their chosen gender. These regs also allow boys - regardless of chosen gender --to play on girls' teams if the school does not offer a boys' team in a selected sport. Taxpayer Benefits for Migrants: As a NYS Constitutional Amendment, Prop 1 will guarantee New York's generous grant of public assistance to migrants: cash payments (welfare), credit cards and housing options - all at taxpayers' expense. New York City's 1979 'Right to Shelter' decree will be construed as a migrant's legal right with a constitutional guarantee that courts will be hard pressed to deny. More information on Taxpayer Benefits to Migrants can be found in Appendix 1. Why Prop 1? New York's Democrats rushed to propose a constitutional amendment and disregarded key process steps required by New York's Constitution. They completed the faulty process early last year but waited until this federal election year to place Prop 1 on the ballot. They falsely portray abortion rights as the focus of this amendment. Why? Because placing Prop 1 on the ballot in November 2024 will drive their voter base to the ballot box - at the expense of the rights of women, parents, and New York taxpayers. August 20, 2024
What specifically is wrong with what I said? I gave realistic possible outcomes based on what we already have seen attempted and implemented in NY and other states. Yes. People should be afraid indeed.

Thank you! There’s a lot that can go wrong if this passes.
