Your cannoneer's job is to more or less be a cannon bot, and they should realistically never be not shooting cannons excluding to get more. Bilge's job is to keep the ship repaired, and if there's no damage then help put pressure by cannoning. Helm's job is to maintain the back sail, and make sure you have angle to the other ship. And finally flex's job is to primarily help put pressure w/ cannons, but to also revive the crew should they die to a cannon shot, if bilge calls for help then flex is the one to help out unless its a 4 man bucket or sink situation, which then means someone wasn't properly doing their job (or could be nobody was). Flex is also your primary border to finish off the opposing ship should you have them disabled and/or have enough pressure to send a border. As for if you're getting boarded its your flex's and helm's job to watch ladders. Hopefully i helped, or atleast gave a general idea for what you're wanting
@@jjrulez1596 this is the advice someone gave me when I joined few veterans in galleon arena. Best tool for a galleon crew is communication. Just spamming 4 cannons can sink a ship without boarding.

You're right, the video makes it look like that 🙂 Focus was to prevent their boarding since it's the strong point. Which is why we made sure ship stays out of their cannons range at most times. We can surely spam lots of ammunition from the cannons and see who drops the mast first, however this is a higher risk approach for a viewer who wants to learn the ropes of countering a tough crew.
When you have that many cannon balls, it doesn't matter how many cannon balls you have anymore. It just means that naval is an option. The fight ends when you sink, and you can sink much faster than you can fire 300 cannons. My point here is that having all that ammo doesn't imply naval advantage. You still need to be sure that you can win a naval battle. The video shows some low-risk, low-reward tactics that help you figure out what your advantage is before you commit, sort of like feinting in fencing. Phuzzy knows that he can't win the fight by running, but it gives him time to think and allows him to manipulate his surroundings to some extent. As long as he doesn't get backed into a corner, he gets to choose where the fight happens.

We usually play brig or sloop, and rarely galleon as we do not have a 4th player most of the time it is just a random new player we play with and show the ropes. I'm generally a competitive player and the only time I end up sinking is to the occasional better crews on galleon who excel both at boarding and double gunning, I dislike this as it forces me and my crew to play with 4 to 6 machine guns in order to level the playing field. Galleon fights are a hassle and un-fun to fight and beat when the crew are double gunning board spammers, and impossible when they know how to naval and maintain the ship. The new spawn timer change makes it troublesome and a huge time and resource sink to deal with the decently skilled galleons. My reason hasn't even got anything to do with the bugs or the lack luster micro-mechanics that lead to boring close up pvp and even more boring pve. Not trying to be only negative about the game I fell in love with, I like the macro aspect that they have given ship battles. I haven't seen Rare do anything to keep the committed players who are playing the game FOR the PLAYER interactions in a long time. I understand this as there aren't many spenders here because they are rarer. But I think it affects the sea as a whole because I've had this feeling for so long. TLDR : I more or less quit the game because of the lack of balance and diversity in play-style forcing you to play as double gun gally to have a fair fight if you want said fight to not drag on for 6 hours. And I'm sure that many players of all skill levels feel the same way about this aspect of the game. I don't expect you to reply to this as there isn't much to reply to, I'm familiar with your opinions on how the game could be improved in a realistic way and so on and for the most part I'd be inclined to agree. Rare doesn't seem to listen to the players because of how divided players of all games can be on game mechanics in a pvp setting in general. To anyone reading this, SoT is a really good game and full of amazing interactions, and for the most part you do not need to switch to snipe pistol/blunder to win your encounters, I would say that 95% of encounters can be won with a sword and a pistol. Question. Had a buddy once who believed it was a good combat decision after anchoring the enemy to Bucket from the ocean into his ship, is this actually a good tactic or just a waste of time?
Video made about using surroundings to sink a ship Actual content: sinks them normally like any other naval battle. Half of it was those lucky one balls. all the surrounding ‘tactics’ failed lol.
Banana Larinna. That was the German guy from the alliance video. He's even typing German in chat. Are you running custom server instances and inviting the same people over? I really don't understand how it's always the same names popping up in your videos.
Bro all he did was play to double guns strengths hence it looked strong. Try double gunning yourself before advocating for a nerf it’s not as easy as it looks
@@gghomie5740 Uh huh, so why is everyone always using it? People are going to follow the meta. Brand new SoT players are double gunning. Hmm. The only thing balancing it right now is awful hit reg. Like, Jackie said earlier, "You are against six guns, boarding isn't useful." And it wasn't, every time they attempted it without absolutely overwhelming the crew, they were crapped on. That should not be be the case for combat in SoT. Combat in SoT was designed to be fair and open to everyone. DG, as it currently is, goes against that. They need to nerf it and mark my words, combat re-balancing is coming. What they need to do is fix ADSing faster than you should be able to. This would go a long way in stopping the sprint swap exploit and prevents the gun already being aimed and ready to fire. The play style won't be dead, but it will be a nice balance and fair again.
This is also why Phuzzy completely overwhelmed them in naval. Because they come over here from CoD and the skill transfers right over but they don't understand how to naval battle. They rely on boarding numbers and if they get on you, you're done. Breaking a double gun full crew camp is damn near impossible unless you're double gunning crew yourself. That speaks volumes to me about where balance lies.
@@Gigaheart brand new sot players use pistol sword and get dumpstered. When phuzzy stopped playing into their hands he did overwhelm them because well he started playing to their weaknesses not strengths. I don’t think sot PvP was ever meant to be fair. If it was there would be sbmm. A lot a skilled players like double gun so they don’t have to put up with sword not working. Also quick swapping isn’t an exploit. Exploit: unintended use of game mechanics Rare has balanced quick swapping so it’s clearly intended. Also the same mechanic that allows the sword to block from sprint. Those guys were tdm lords who weren’t good at tdm or naval. But point is don’t complain about double gun and then play to its strengths. It can feel op when it beats you because your being outskilled. Try it yourself it’s way harder than it looks Edit: obviously boarding against six guns won’t work because there’s no pressure on the crew. It’s useless boarding against three guns and three swords too you need pressure it’s how PvP works
@@gghomie5740 The quick swap sprint is an exploit and the single key to the double gun play style and it is why they use it. It is supposed to ready the gun from stow to ready faster after coming off or out of a sprint, which it does do. The issue lies in that it also does something it isn't supposed to do. It enables ADS faster than intended. This is what they need to fix. You can't fire faster but you're aimed on your target before you are supposed to be able to do that. Everything in the game is subject to hit reg; chains, sword, guns, even cannonballs. They use it because the damage output far outweighs any negatives.
Phuzzy is it true? Did you really helped that guy called Cliff the story guy, becouse just why? He isn't even good at PvP so his tall tale like videos sometimes just end with him losing battle and saying "it's not about the loot" he's just not a good pirate bro! How can YOU be helping him?
I help whoever needs it, Cliff is a good pirate 🙂 PvP is not the only measure of skill, Sea of Thieves is a Sandbox world with so much more to offer than combat. A balanced pirate is a good pirate, with attitude and sportsmanship more important than PvP.
I never expected you say something like that, man you're are PvP pro 😉! And he's just copy of Welyn, that deosn't even win all the time. So damn! Don't say he's a good pirate, you just wanted to sponsor him, becouse he has more subs than you.
Can't even lie. Me and my crew are gods in hand to hand combat but we suck at naval cuz it's easier to to get 1 guy on and wipe them. That's how we lose to some crews. Naval sweats are our demise.
Sometimes knowing the enemy is winning half the battle, the main goal was to prevent them from boarding us since it's their strong point. While we wait for the right moment to completely take them down unexpectedly.
Hey Phuzzy im watching you since i started playing Sea of Thieves and i respect you alot as a Person in the community but pls stop being so against people using double guns or players that you call just sweats. I know you have your own way of playing the game and i have nothing against your playstyle in general but when you are bashing against other for doing it their way it, it doesnt make sense to me. These people were better than you at naval and gunplay and instead of acknowledging that you are generalising them into just being sweaty doulbe gunners. Lets get along in this community and pls stop judging others for their playstyle
Vote no more double Gannon, just last constantly text rare let us get right on his nerves until they say right you want us to remove double gonna fine, will remove it
PvP, for me, is a double edged sword... I enjoy the naval, but, because I'm on Xbox-X, I HATE hand-to-hand. I usually end up shutting off my console once I've been boarded and killed. I know I'm at a disadvantage once I've been boarded and I accept that and quit.
Exactly, also should have sunk them when they got the anchor ball and both masts down but blew the double board. If they double raise front and circle them it's over right there.
Starts the video by demeaning another crews ability because they were supposedly only good/doing one thing, then proceeds to run and board with fire, multiple times in a storm i might add, for 90% of the video. Come on man, have a little self awareness.
Hey did know, Black Beard had 6 loaded guns on him at all time. Guns were the way to go, sword fighting was just too risky. Way more reliable and safe to gun someone down from distance.
Pvp is so broken now it's not even fun anymore if I still played which I don't I would just red sea my loot instead of fighting its the same feeling either way as usual Rare advertisements stress story and adventure but they don't fix anything with pvp all the "tools not rules" are tools to help players being toxic you ruined your game rare hope your happy but it's just not fun to play anymore
Actually i think there aren't many problems in pvp anymore. One thing that might be annoying, is that you can sometimes respawn right next to your opponent, which would be a pretty easy fix for Rare. Idk why they still didn't fix it. The rest seems fine to me though.

"the blunder is broken and stupid"
Proceeds to use blunder.
That's a channel point where viewers redeem on twitch to make me use it. Not my choice 🤣
@@PhuzzyBond I was just having a laugh over it. It does not detract from your mad skill in any way. Keep on being awesome.
Question. Had a buddy once who believed it was a good combat decision after anchoring the enemy to Bucket from the ocean into his ship, is this actually a good tactic or just a waste of time?
Waste of time in my opinion, it takes a while to sink anyone from bucketing. They'd respawn long before you were able to sink them like that
Completely waste of time you’re better off putting holes into their ship
Yes as others said, I believe it's 10 seawater buckets to equal one from damage. It differs from one ship to another and not worth it .
How long did this entire battle take?
Go phuzzy
Video made about using surroundings to sink a ship
Actual content: sinks them normally like any other naval battle. Half of it was those lucky one balls. all the surrounding ‘tactics’ failed lol.
I like having a sword and pistol
What is everyone’s favorite loadout
the music at the end of the fight and Rocket losing calm really makes me feel like i was actually on board with you guys x)
Banana Larinna. That was the German guy from the alliance video. He's even typing German in chat. Are you running custom server instances and inviting the same people over? I really don't understand how it's always the same names popping up in your videos.
Great naval maneuvers and change of strategy
All of those shots from them were extremely sus. Especially the one at 4:30
Nice!
intense
Cursed cannon balls In my experience are the most useful tool
Thats the only thing i hate about Sot the stupid cheap blunder guard. Just add a grapplinghook that you can use to slide over from ship to ship.
And this is absolutely why double gun needs a hard and heavy nerf.
Also quick swapping
isn’t an exploit. Exploit: unintended use of game mechanics
Rare has balanced quick swapping so it’s clearly intended. Also the same mechanic that allows the sword to block from sprint.
Those guys were tdm lords who weren’t good at tdm or naval. But point is don’t complain about double gun and then play to its strengths. It can feel op when it beats you because your being outskilled. Try it yourself it’s way harder than it looks
Edit: obviously boarding against six guns won’t work because there’s no pressure on the crew.
The amount of times he nearly gets one balled and he doesnt even react; just a stone cold lack of expression
very nice
OMG THE BEGINING OF THIS VIDEO IS LITIREALLY 90% OF ALL OPEN CREW!

Use kegs to guard ladders

Use guards to ladder cannon
Use snakes to guard ladders.
somenthing wrong with double gunning?
Nothing wrong with people using them per se.
But there is a nasty stereotype that uses them hence why they get assosiated with it.
Yeah nothing wrong 🤗 sometimes it just hurts haha
It's not great for land adventures, that's for sure- you tend to run dry easy
@@PhuzzyBond it sure does
Honestly think double gunning is a little op. It's got a decently high skill cap for sure, but when your good at it, it's a little too good.
I sunk so many ships that could easily kill me if I boarded, but because they lacked naval. I easily sunk them.
3 anchorballs 6 wearyballs cmon man
Firebombs don't work in the storm Phuzzy >.
I know 😂 but they do if you hit the bottom deck through the Hull
@@PhuzzyBond Valid, didn't think about that 😂
As the captain of the snazzy duck I hope I find the soggy duck
If only I were that good at combat... The only way I'll win any PVP encounter is if I sneak up on the enemy
Blunder should be nerfed it's way op
Why was this whole fighting video just u running till the end lol
He needed the right moment to turn around. Else the enemies would have just gone behind him and spammed him with chains.
Sometimes knowing the enemy is winning half the battle, the main goal was to prevent them from boarding us since it's their strong point. While we wait for the right moment to completely take them down unexpectedly.
Aye
Not a good mindset to have. Its doable on xbox trust me.
😬
a veteran like you should be more organized. After you turned and demasted them you should have stayed on helm and bucket and let the other two shoot
Exactly, also should have sunk them when they got the anchor ball and both masts down but blew the double board. If they double raise front and circle them it's over right there.
You are right, but sometimes it's difficult to optimize every move. Everytime a video is edited I notice more things that could've been performed 🙂
It's easy to armchair quarterback decisions when you aren't in the fight though.
Yes armchair helmsman 🤡

Ah nice, some germans
All i saw was a guy spamming the same method again with no real result.

13 minutes of how stupid the boarding meta is
damn first
well the blunder in any game should 1 shot someone up close, it's a shotgun.
13th
Starts the video by demeaning another crews ability because they were supposedly only good/doing one thing, then proceeds to run and board with fire, multiple times in a storm i might add, for 90% of the video. Come on man, have a little self awareness.
Honestly people who double gun irk me. It's a pirate game, not call of duty. Get a sword you fps sweat
Lmao bro probably got camped or something
Actually i think there aren't many problems in pvp anymore. One thing that might be annoying, is that you can sometimes respawn right next to your opponent, which would be a pretty easy fix for Rare. Idk why they still didn't fix it. The rest seems fine to me though.
actual skill isue, not joking
Good god, what a child
I just need a crew that keeps calm and didn't panic. Even in just PvE fleet fights.
I end of steering doing sails cannons and bailing.
