  • The old rusty steel cable was lying in the garage for a long time. Finally I figured out what to do with it. See how it turned out in my video. I will say in advance that the kinetic force is incredible!

You're lucky you can CC buddy, some states like the one I live, the politicians deemed the 2nd Amendment not compatible and 86ed it from the law books. Gun laws need to be enforced by the Federal Government and we need Constitutional Carry in all the states.

@@seenenough1200 I agree, arming ones self is a human right, and I believe guns aren't the only weapons that should be covered by the 2nd amendment. knife laws are often ridiculously stringent like here in Detroit I can have my pistol on me at all times but if I have the wrong kind of knife I'm a criminal.

epoxies dont handle getting cold or heat very well and they also can't handle impact or twisting forces. Take the cable alll the way thru the handle and weld on a nut/cap of some sort. Also do the same at the hilt

Great build and video. Although I have plenty of thick cable with a LOT more rust if you need some. I like it as it is and it may be fine. You're not using it as a hammer, after all.
I do agree it would last longer with some type of mechanical attachment, but putting studs through stranded cable may have its own issues. Or looping the cable back over itself, like when adding a loop to a cable, and somehow capturing that whole thing in a longer handle. Bull whips have long, almost double handles.
What about pounding in wedges like on a hammer or ax? Not a few big, short ones but a bunch of longer thinner ones? You may need to thicken the ferrules to handle the force so weight could be a concern. Since it's steel it may help to heat and expand the cable and ferrule and chill and lubricate the wedges so it gets even tighter as the temperatures normalize. Also, you might try dripping in some molten metal or even solder (or J.B. Weld) just before you pound in the wedges/nails.
Welding some type of bulb on the end would work if the end extended a bit into or above a thicker part of a ferrule?
    Use a hydraulic crimper?
And call it a tire tester to explain why you keep it in your car or truck. Does that work for truckers who carry bats or huge, club-like flashlights in case they want to see if their tires are aired up to spec? Or a handy grain thresher. You can't be over-prepared.

    • @stevemccull9699
      @stevemccull9699 5 месяцев назад

Truckers can buy and legally carry a 18" wooden "club" which has a heavy metal collar on the end. It's called a

Remember , this metal whip. Is for checking for flat tires!

      No, Judges aren't blind.
But when a Judge sees what otherwise may have been a simple piece of garbage on the trash heap with a handle attached to it, and it was used to inflict serious physical injuries upon another, the Judge may not be so lenient to your claim of "self-defense".

me skipping through the video: "hold up, the wood was already this dark before turning... is that bog oak???" 😂
dude, that cable was screaming for screws. the end cap definitely would not stay on during use this way, but it would if you put a screw through the central void to wedge the cable strands against the steel tube. and the handle also absolutely will not hold from glue alone, but it would have pretty good chances if you made use of that ferrule by screwing ~3 screws through holes or taps in the ferrule and into the cable (even wood screws pushed loosely through the ferrule and onlyngripping the cable might work, and for the tip a wood screw is probably ideal).
I hope you have no use for this anyway, but if you're going to make weapons, do it right.

Reminds me of my teenage years.
A friend of mine had a thick steel homemade belt buckle on his belt. He got in an argument with a bigger fellow. My friend took off his belt and swung the belt with the buckle dangling. As the force off the swing built up the little button that held the buckle on let loose. The buckle went flying to China and my friend ended up only slapping the big man with his belt in the face.
      😂
