    I’m an Anglo Indian born in Kashmir to Anglo parents who decided to leave India for Pakistan in 1947. I’ve always been proud of my Indian heritage. My parents left Pakistan for Australia in the ‘60’s. I still cling to my roots with a huge amount of respect to both sides of my DNA .

During the British raj, when india was a colony and was ruled by the British, many britishers had to move to India leaving their families behind. So they got settled in india and married indian girls. Their children were called Anglo Indians. British father and Indian mother.
      However it was not always happy ending. Many of them left their wives behind, went back to England and never came back.

    ...ur dad is always alive in our heart....he was a gr8 actor.....we have literally grown up seeing his plays,tv serials n movies...noone could dare to say he was not Indian ...he had very much grip on the local languages n basically was a gr8 Indian n a Padmashree awardee which is least to his stature of acting n i wish we could see u soon in films n experience Tom alter sir via u.....Love u bro...n miss sir ❤️

    Fascinating video! I have an Indian father and American mother and grew up in Mumbai until I was 13, so I have a similar story. Fascinating to hear your perspective since I've been aware of Tom Alter's history. Love your fluent, sophisticated command of Hindi! I'll check out some of your other content.

      Well your experience is still different to him, he spent his entire childhood in India whilst you moved out when you were only 13, so you grew up in the US. His story is quite interesting even though my friend had to translate this entire video 😂

The guy can settle in United States any time he wants, he has more earning potential in the states but he just doesn't wanna leave his country. How many Indians will do that if given the opportunity of moving to States?

    I’m American, but all four of my grandparents were born in India.
    This man is 100% Indian, and that’s that. He speaks Hindi better than most American born Indians, myself included.

      @@jamevay True, most of us from non-Hindi states pickup Hindi via movies and TV. I did have Hindi in school, but that was before TV, so I didn't really understand since my exposure to Hindi speakers was zero.

    I just came across this video of yours and greatly impressed with your Indianness and your upbringing, I watched a couple of your dad's films and admire him. After all these years ...I saw your video and I am amazed at your strong Indian connection having been born here and you had that sense of belonging, connection and relate to "our Indian" culture.     Thank you for sharing your experiences Jamie. As an Indian expat, I have always seen the experiences of Indians who were born and brought up abroad or the "ABCDs" as they were termed in slang. I realize that the experiences are similar, the other way round too!!
