Yea, price gouging is to be expected. However there are 100s of amps that sound fantastic under $1k, most of the time ppl find a $500 sleeper amp that kills them all. Just don't tell the internet when you find them.

I dont know. IMO a good amp should be capable of "bad" tones. That just means it has a broader sweep in the EQ and everything else. What may sound bad on your setup could sound good on someone else's. I have multiple cabs with different speakers and the settings on my amps definitely need to be changed based on cab and guitar.

Great adjective for both amps mentioned. owned both and they definitely have a "rip", like when you pull apart brand new velcro or something. The distortion character is very crunchy with the channel volume higher up, but you lose the fx loop balance. That was the one real weakpoint of the amp.

You can tell the economy is messed up because this is the last video to be uploaded for this amp. You can see over the years people have uploaded similar videos of equipment so many times over but I feel this guy (the mk2) is going to be scarce because of the price. Especially because there was good hype for the mark vii and I feel a lot of people voiced their agnst with the price of that amp too. This amp is definitely a better value imo.

@@RiffsAndBeards this ain't a grocery page. No worries I told food lion the same thing on their RUclips though. It's hard to justify 3-4k on amps. And yes, I'm spoiled from when I was getting things like VHT deliverance 120 shipped for $900 off reverb with gold lion kt88.
And as a tone snob, I fell into it for a few years chasing tones, then bam... used prices went insane and all the fun abruptly ended. Maybe I'm a little sour about that. Still have the herbert mkiii and slx hanging out around here but the days of enjoying purchasing music gear for fair prices are done.
The only ones doing us right are PRS... I loved the 100 archon.. then they hit you with new 50 models for 999. EvH iconic is another fair one. Bogner charging 4k after taxes for a tube amp is rape. There's no way the components and transformers cost that, I've been in the game a while, I know it's higher but 3500 before taxes is rape. The tone is obviously killer but for my taste there are too many toggles and modes. I get that's kinda Bogner's thing most of the time but a glaring exception has been the Uberschall, which was just two channels and extremely straighforward to use (the Twin Jet version was an exception since the presence and gain knobs reacted in unusual ways to normal twisting, this is the classic "set with your ears not with your eyes" amp, kinda like what you mentioned on this one). I'm lucky enough to own a Rev Green Uber and it's my all-time favorite amp not just for how good it sounds but for how easy it is to use.

As someone who previously owned this amp, be advised that this amp is best suited for extreme music styles and super-modern tones using downtuned and extended range instruments. Despite all the options (and what I'm sure others will say in response to this comment), it's not a very versatile amplifier. The clean channel is very nice but the mid-gain tones from the amp leave a lot to be desired. However, if you're using downtuned 7-string guitars for crushing modern metal riffs, you will probably like it.
P.S. - Bring a noise gate, this amp is noisy AF.

@@kelsodelroy Well, first Im not pandering to brands. I asked for this amp. Also, my video was about NEW product roll outs, not amps that have been out for a year and a half. Third, am I supposed to buy all this stuff? Cause I cant. This video is me testing cool gear. Sweetwater sent it to me to do whatever I want with it. My quality is sky high. Lastly, at no time have I ever said YOU SHOULD BUY THIS, and even if I did, you are an adult. Im not forcing you to buy anything. And even then, Sweetwater has a 30 day return policy. So. If you dont like it, dont watch. It's that simple. But dont act like you own this channel or its content. I know the videos I used to make my guy. I hope you have a great weekend

Expensive, but far less expensive than I had assumed.

Great review and yes it is one of the best amps available. Top 5 for sure and for me top 2.
I have the 6l6 version and it is a monster. Used to own and favor the Rev 2 but this one is much better.
Also want to say a good friend has a stealth and swears by it. The first time I plugged in my Ultra was at his house and he said he wants to sell the Stealth now.
I haven't tried every amp in the world but I've tried a lot and this is definitely one to try for brutal metal tones.
