- Just a handful of the visions I get when I listen to this song. Unfortunately I could only depict what this world had to offer. My visions were much better then this. But, I hope you get the point and enjoy! I do not own any content of the song or videos and photos used in the making of this video. The song is owned by Michael W. Smith and the photos were photobucket and the videos were pieced together from all over the place!
I grew up with this on cassette. Gave me chills. Still does. Cause you can tell what it refers to so well. Praise be to Him! Have a blessed day whoever is seeing this and have faith!

My favorite part of The Throne is the ending where they are saying "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come"

I am pretty sure Ashton was written from inspiration of Frank Perriti's Book "This Present Darkness." Ashton is the fictional town the story takes place in. The book is probably one of my all time favorites.

I had my second vision. The first was the second coming of Christ. The second was when I was praying and this song came on. It was as I found out, confirmed by finding it in a part of the Bible that I had never read and then the Pastor of our church preached on the exact verses that I had turned to randomly after the vision, at church the very next day. Confirmed Scriptural and confirmed again. Something that I didn't know, nor had ever read before. The war in Mid Heaven. I was on a white horse, wearing a white robe. First off, not a horse person, but that horse and I were like one. In an army of others in a v formation in mid-heaven, no ground, just above and seeing an army on black horses coming up from below us. I was on the outside, right midflank, somehow I knew Jesus was at the point in the front of the V formation leading us. I raised my right arm and waved and those on black horses, wearing black robes were falling out of the sky, same with waving my left arm. I could see another, on my left, knew others were in front of me and those on black horses kept falling out of the sky below us. They couldn't come up and were being cast down. I felt power coming from my hands as I lifted and waved them at the enemies. The vision ended before the singing started in the song. Had this vision in 1990 or 1991. My first vision was in 1990. No music with that one. Just praying for my family in my bathroom. Mom's will understand. You get your prayer closet where you can. Bottom line, we win. God bless, stand strong, don't become what you hate and be humble, loving, kind, forgiving, compassionate and prayerful. God bless.

for years I thought of Ashton as what spiritual warfare would sound like if put to music.
Ashton was inspired by the book "This Present Darkness" by Frank Peretti. If you're not familiar, that is a book all about spiritual warfare. I would say MWS nailed it!

Nice video, but the ending (my favorite part) got cut a little short. The voices of the children saying "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come" always sends shivers down my spine. Otherwise the video is Awesome!

I also had visions of the last days,seen Jesus come get his children,seen the war between Jesus on the white horse,the saints and the Anti Christ and Satan and see who they were and etc was very vivid and my vision/dream was very graphic of the wat,seen people being killed,beheaded for not taking the mark and etc
dontbsilly-Have you ever read "This Present Darkness" by Frank Peretti? I believe this song is somewhat modeled on angelic vs demonic activity in the little town of Ashton. If you haven't read it I recommend it! God bless and thank you for the inspiring and creative images!

My understanding of Ashton is that it was essentially the Final Battle of Heaven & Earth when Satan was put asunder by Christ and His Angels.
Ashton is essentially a type of warrior Archangel; of course, that name isn't mentioned for God's Messengers in Scripture or Apostolic Tradition, it's pious thought.
Anyway, a blessed Christ The King Day 2021.

@Treehugger19900 Thanks. Yeah, I know it slowed down near the end because I could not find enough content to depict Heaven...or at least what the human mind has congered up. Unfortunately my searches for content to use for this video were sporadic at best. To break down the list is difficult but I shall try. What Dreams May Come, Armageddon, War Of The Worlds, Revelations, End Times In The Making, Angels & Demons, Various nature videos, Twister, and that is what I a can remember right now.
It was a awesome choreography you did, even if it did have more natural, earthly material at the end. Heaven will be beautiful & anything beautiful on earth that God made is a tiny taste of that infinitely beautiful & perfect place we look forward to!
Kayleen Edwards: I'm amazed & floored to be able to see what you could see as far as what we can comprehend in this life & existence. The video goes so well with the music & it's rare that I see anyone as articulate as you have been here. I too have visions when listening to music & I have to say I have a strong hold on my heart & spirit with a song from Madonna - "Like A Prayer" especially the chords that are used in the verses. This song rivals the beautiful sound of that rather perverse song especially towards the end. Love Michael's Harmonies. It's a struggle though, cause the devil is crafty & his snares are powerful! i LOVE this present darkness! the greatest piece of fiction ever written. left behind and harry potter somewhat behind. tpd needs to be made into a movie so bad! if this ever happens, this and the throne need to be on the soundtrack! tpd is a movie in book form. eight potter movies prove we have the technology, it's our turn with this great book! holy,hloy, hloy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!!! The Oath was great too. The audio version read by Stephen Johnson (or something like that) is fabulous as he really draws you into the characters with his style. I'm not a big reader as such but a lot of Peretti's writings keep me interested!

did you know that in the late 90's present darkness was made into a movie but never released. Because they stayed true to the story line it was given an "R" rating and the producers refused to release it under an "R" rating.
Another MWS instrumental is "Glory Battle" from 2011. Could "Ashton" be the big brother to this? 2011 was the 20th anniversary of This Present Darkness being released....

@Treehugger19900 oh, and Titanic, Knowing, various space scenes and photography, high speed and slow speed resolution. There was a ton of different aspects, movies Hollywood style and amateur style...I spent the longest ever making this movie...about two weeks.

I guess Michael W Smith had his reasons for doing worship music, but I kinda wish he'd stuck to writing stuff like this instead.
The worship stuff isn't as good in my opinion.
I did not know that! maybe if it was made again, it could be PG-13. But an R rating? it may have been the violence. that was probably it.
