god i miss being that young..doing the shit i did..finding starlight ballroom for the first time...what an epic night..what an epic band..EITS helped change my life.
Seen them live for the 9th time a week ago at Roadrunner in Boston. Always a powerful experience. Amazing sound, second only to the Radio City Music Hall performance back in April 2011. Love this recording of my favorite song from them when they were in their prime. Thank you
Whenever I watch this I begin to cry..Idk if it's whether I'm happy or sad..one thing I do know is that the passion they put into this is one of a kind. I feel like they change my life everyday, for the better.
explosions in the sky's music has made me the happiest and the most sad i have ever been. i'll never forget the first time i heard this song, i was laying with the love of my life. i hope i can be fortunate enough to hear them live in my lifetime.
I first watched this not long after it was first posted and it still gives me chills. And we are taken to another level at the 7:00 mark when Munaf applies the duct tape. Thanks to whoever recorded and posted this!
i was sitting on one of the tables to the right of the stage with my girlfriend at the time watching this. best show ever. we were both 18 and drugged out. although we didn't need them, they sure as hell intensified what we were hearing. very good night I'll never forget.
Passion, do you know the meaning? True feeling, that's what this is. Not just music. Far more than that. This is raw spiritual energy. Projected through souls of these men and their instruments. Pure heart and extreme dedication are put into their music. Inspiration. No one compares.
So do I. I've been to the Starlight Ballroom and I just wish I was there when they were playing. They seem like they'd be so fucking amazing to see live.
"… and then I'll put my guitar on the floor and tape the e-bow to it, so I can beat a tambourine senseless with one hand while I play the slide melody with the other. … then I'll collapse, from exhaustion, mostly due to the tambourine thing. I'm also gonna play snare on 'Catastrophe And The Cure'."
@drogbapauleta towards the end he lays the guitar flat on the ground and puts duct tape on this little box called an ebow to keep it in place on top of one of the guitar strings. It provides infinite sustain on the guitar (the constant buzzing you hear). Then munaf turns up the volume on the guitar slowly and then grabs a slide and works it up the neck of the guitar while smashing the shit of of the tambourine. The tab to it is easy to figure out as well.
I saw them live on June 26, and they played this song. Somehow, the tambourine was clearly audible. I was not close to the stage, either. Surprising, but they perform it that way, so they must know if it sounds right.
