I loved this! My first visit to London was last year, and I was only able to spend a few days before boarding a cruise from Southampton. I'll be returning next spring and am trying to plan my time. I may have up to two weeks in Great Britain before my cruise (I'm considering taking a transatlantic voyage) before my Norwegian Prima cruise to Amsterdam, Brugges, Norway, and Iceland. It's going to be epic! Anyhow, I hit some highlights in London last year but want to see the major things I missed and them some other cool spots - so this is so wonderful... I hope to see more. I'm also looking into package tours that include Scotland and possibly Wales or Ireland. Thank you!!
I’m glad you found my videos too, Kathleen! I’m happy you enjoy my videos 😁 I’ve driven through Tennessee but never stopped 😂 I’d love to visit one day!
Yes! Please do more of these videos! I love history and find all of this fascinating. I laughed when you touched all the things because I do that too. I love touching things of historical importance-makes me feel somehow connected to it all. I live near Charlotte, NC and my town played a big role in the American Revolution. There are some very cool historical places here. If you visit the states, add NC to your list. It’s beautiful here! Love your videos-keep them coming! Cheers!
HAHA it’s a strange feeling touching something you know people touched hundreds of years before you! Sounds great, I’d love to visit NC! More videos coming soon, thank you for watching, Jennifer 😁
The piece of the wall in a car park is a total surprise! I would never thought to go down there in search of such history. I have really enjoyed my trips to London and love these videos. Can't wait for part two! I learned so much already, I only knew about the cab drivers shelters from a tour I took once.
It’s a big surprise, Jason! That’s definitely a hidden secret but there’s many things you see everyday but don’t know the history. I love the Cabmen’s Shelters, great history. Thank you for watching 😁 part 2 coming soon!
Loved this video mate . I’ve never been a great Plaque reader but I think I need to change that. The story of the sale of the old London Bridge to the USA really appeals to me.
Cheers, Ed! This was a fun video to make. It’s great that so much history is still preserved in London today, I’m always curious and like to see read stuff. The old London Bridge story is fascinating too, I’d love to visit it in Arizona!
@@TravelWithBen121 I live in AZ and have been to the London Bridge in Lake Havasu (did my first Triathlon there!). I have also been to the London Bridge in London. Pretty cool!
I learned so much! I will be there in September 2024. I will be sure to read all of the little sings and markers to learn more. If you see an old lady following you while you’re filming another video, don’t worry, I’ll just be listening and learned more from you!😊
Looking forward to watching. I love your enthusiasm, as a retired teacher I can imagine you inspire your students to inquire and explore. cheers!@@TravelWithBen121
Really like your vid / I had a guided tour of the Athenaeum Club a few years go by the club secretary - fascinating building… I think they have Dickens’s chair there (he was a member)
This was fun, Ben! Thank you for sharing these "hidden" gems. I love history, which is why I want to visit London someday. I'm looking forward to part 2.
This was VERY interesting video. I just love these kind of things, that not everyone knows. I started to wonder if someone have made a geocache on some of these sites 😊 since geocaching is a hobby that have shown to me lots of these 'hidden gem" places here in Finland too. Places of history that not many knows. Going to geocaching map to investigate 😜
Road works and construction has destroyed London. Town planners should be regulating and restricting times of works. Twice TFL allowed works to go on in my area from 8.00pm till early morning about 5.00am, the noise was so much had severe migraine and was crying and went to beg the staff. The Mayor of London, Khan has failed London. It is also much more dirty, more homeless people and tents in high end areas, less parking spaces yet Council Tax up and Road Tax up, noise pollution up, buses late or does not show up, trains are worse, delayed and cancelled and almost none existent in the weekend now. They still collect money for bus replacement that is when it is available and too much strikes.....hope he goes next time because as a Londoner born and lived here, considering leaving if this Mayor stays again because fed up.
I agree with everything you said, Marilyn! Khan’s London isn’t a nice place. I love visiting London but I’m always happy to leave. Which area of London are you in? I grew up in Croydon.
Did not know any of that stuff except for Benjamin Franklin. But didn't know about the bones. 🦴. Kinda creepy. Lol. I enjoy this type of history so I really enjoyed this tour. Thank you.
Your passion for London flows over the subject matter and makes this a memorable experience.
Well done Ben! Waiting for part two.
Thank you, John! Greatest city in the world 😊 part 2 coming soon!
Many more tours like this one, please, Ben. I'm a Londoner by birth. Fascinating history ❤
