  • In today's video, I'm adding a beautiful (and expensive) Chicago Sunburst Anemone to my nano saltwater reef tank. This is the new HelloReef aquarium kit, and I'm very excited to have this setup and get back into the saltwater hobby.
    This Chicago Sunburst Anemone was a perfect match for the clownfish already residing in my nano reef tank. This anemone will continue to grow and provide a great home for the fish, with that unique symbiotic relationship. The Chicago Sunburst Anemone is a stunning addition to any reef tank. Its vibrant colors and beautiful extensions make it a standout among other aquatic species.

    Troy, it's amazing. How it moved on it's own, super cool. It's also very pleasing to the eye, where it settled and it's beauty. Thanks from Ontario.

    Lmao I thought when you said the Chicago would spread around the tank it would be more “Chicago Suburbs,” lol I realized you said Sunburst after. It’s an awesome addition

    Your friends are right. Captive bred clowns don't often go into anemones. I have a friend who paid huge bucks for a mated pair of designer clowns that he keeps in a nano tank set up very similar to yours and they haven't touched them in two years. I have orange skunk clowns that rarely leave the BTAs.

      Idk about that. Although I only have 2 tanks, each has 2 different clowns. In the 30, there’s a black storm and orange storm captive bread that live in the regular old orange and green bta. The 150 has a nearly naked and a midnight living in a Chicago nem. I think it’s just hit or miss

    What are you feeding your anem? I have an anem in my tank and my clown fish actually feeds it himself which is a cool behavior. I made a YT short on it if you want to check it out. I love the channel keep up the great work!

    I had clown fish and never went to the anemone until one day in a water change they got scared and went into the anemone. Also the water change made the anemone multiply

    I had maroon clowns, and they would spawn once a month under anemone and defend both. Very aggressive. The female was huge and the male was tiny. The anemone split a couple times.

    Troy,
    Awesome tank and new inhabitant to the salt water tank. Question what do they eat and i had no idea it was alive like that where it moves. I thought it was a plant lol. Never kept salt water so yeah.

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Jeremy! It eats anything really that the fish eat. So right now it’ll catch some pellets that the clowns don’t get. Later on, the clowns may bring food into it as well. Food/strong lighting helps them grow and multiply

      Yeah it’s been fun to watch! Right now it just grabs some pellets that the clowns miss. Might target feed some frozen foods as well

    I'm a complete newbie so this might be a dumb question: But what are those other fishes (except the clownfish) that seem to get along well in a tank that has an anemone?

  • @jakebrabec1141
    @jakebrabec1141 7 месяцев назад

    If your clowns host the nem, I will celebrate with you.
    I had a pair for months completely ignore mine so I swapped traded em for some different ones that are territorial of them but still don't host lol! 😤

    You may have to train your clowns to go to the anemone.
