Find what you love and pursue it

  • In today's Fallout 4 gameplay commentary we are talking about finding your passion. Video game players are losing the ability to discover games they love without first checking what the general consensus is. I want to encourage players to rediscover how to find your passion, to find media, games, and movies that you love. People are craving authenticity once again. This old school gameplay commentary is meant to be a reminder to discover and find things that you love and then pursue them. Sometimes checking out what the general consensus is is good, but often times it can make us enjoy things differently. Thanks for watching! #fallout #fallout4

I felt the same way about Starfield. The first 10 hours were SO cool for me. Then I saw all the negativity online about it and I ended up refusing to watch any commentary videos. I knew that all the negativity would crush my enjoyment.
Sure, some criticism was valid and it is not a perfect game. But it was so nice to just enjoy the game myself and not care what other people thought.

4:25 Tbh this is a surprising statement for me to hear: that people consciously go into stuff almost wanting to have pre-conceived notions about a property.
If someone isn't forming their own opinions about art, and only repeating what others have said, then that opinion is useless. If you're only parroting what you heard online, if you actually can't explain why you liked/disliked something in your own words, you actually need to take a step back and re-evaluate your approach to life in general.
It's such an important skill to have, and so many people just don't have it or don't care to practice it.
And it contributes so much to misinformation or not doing your own research; for example, any time I hop into a live chat, the amount of people basically saying "Well I HEARD about this thing and I'm mad about it". And then you spend a few minutes looking up the topic and finding their view on it is skewed or totally false.
It's actually shocking how misinformed and lazy most people online are about the things they choose to get riled up about, when that information is right there for them to look further into.

People bandwagon so fast these days, and you're getting at exactly what I was hoping to convey in the video. It's good to read and listen to critique, but people need to still be able to form their own opinions

@BBKDRAGOON I love the game, I tried the update on the steam beta and its fantastic, especially the difficulty settings, I'm excited for future updates and expansion.
The weakest part of starfield imo is the exploration, cause we are used to the way it's handled in fallout and skyrim.
The exploration in starfield is there, it's just handled differently.

@BBKDRAGOON it suffers from similar issues most Bethesda games had, the engine is limiting so there are loading screens, and the writing and main story is so-so. The gameplay itself is really fun and is a good sandbox to have fun in.

I decided to get back into emulation and installed the Xemu emulator for the original Xbox and man......did it bring back a major reminder of why I love gaming. Jet Set Radio Future, Project Gotham Racing, Amped, or even WWF Raw (which was always considered a mediocre game) and I freaking loved them! There was so much energy and gaming spirit behind them ensuring that you always had a smile on your face while playing. And I missed that.

I started my Fallout journey with the first game in 1998 (it took them ~1 year to get it to Europe) and my Pentium 90 was the base system to play this game on. Because my uncle had a brand new Pentium 200, I mostly played the game on this PC for the first time. I later also played Fallout 2, Tactics, 3 and New Vegas right after release - and was blown away by the world, that was opened when the game went from top down 2D to full 3D. But Fallout 3 was not the game I loved the most - it was still 1 and 2. New Vegas really injected a lot of those open world elements that let you play the game "your way" back into the series (I finished my first play through on the "neutral" path). F3 DLCs started to get better, but they still could not touch everything the NV main storyline went through.
Since then, I have replayed the first two games more than a dozen times (for years it was a holiday ritual to replay F1 and F2 in a "different" way - high charisma/speech, dumb brute, fighting, etc.) and that's what I really missed with 4. So far, 4 is the only game in the series (even counting those non canon games), that I have not finished yet. Says a lot about the game, sadly. :( But now I managed to revive one of my broken save games (that crashed all the time - that's why I stopped playing F4 back then). So maybe now I'll manage to finish the game in the near future. 😁 As I already own the GOTY edition, I'll also have to play the DLCs afterwards - really looking forward to Far Harbor and its Lovecraftian vibe.
On that note: I also never finished Skyrim - same issue, but I could not revive my old save game with ~150+ h... 😥

I am loving my replay now more than when it came out. I think it was a bit complicated for me, but now I get it. It came out in the golden age of exciting shooters that stole my attention like Halo, Titanfall, Battlefield…. Buut those series all killed themselves. Now I can enjoy Fallout.

I stopped watching reviews a few years ago before playing it myself first. I found the same issues with it creating a mindset prior to experiencing it myself. After I put some time into a game then I watch reviews to see what others think and if it falls in line with my own conclusions of how it is. And it's not just gaming it is shows too. Honestly listening to the reviews sometimes can keep you away from a game you would have otherwise enjoyed. I have held off getting Tales of Symphonia simply because I read the reviews. Sure maybe the older version is better but since it's not easily accessible and I never played it, my time with the PC version could be an enjoyable time if given the chance. On the movie side I've listened to reviews people praising and rating a movie highly, only for when its over to question why did I waste my time with it. You can look into things sure but don't let it rule your decision making. Do your own thing and you'll be surprised at what you can enjoy.

Its just sad how corporate execs are so desperate to keep their and the shareholders' pockets ever growing and ever fatter.

Over 80% of players love Fallout 4. The angry New Vegas Fanbois are just the loudest. Hating on Fallout 4 is considered cool by the sheeple so they mindlessly hate it. They will throw a couple buzzwords like "choice" at you and will completely ignore that you have the power over the lives and deaths of thousands of Commonwealth people. How is destroying the Prydwen not a "meaningfull choice"??? This game literally has post game content unlike Fallout 1 and New Vegas. You can literally see the consequences of your choices - you don't need a Ron Pearlman slide show - you can literally look at the CIT and see a giant crater. And this is just an example. Most of the criticism is either unfair because it applies to other Fallout games as well, or it has no substance, or it is even a strait up lie.
