Actor and writer, Chazz Palminteri is guest on The 'Charlie Rose' Show during this 1993 interview discussing his movie, "A Bronx Tale," directed by Robert DeNiro and written by and starring Palminteri. A very sincere interview between both Chazz and Charlie.
Bronx-born and raised Chazz Palminteri was a natural choice to continue the long line of prominent Italian actors in the film industry. In the tradition set forth in the 1970s by such icons as director Martin Scorsese and actors Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, Palminteri has brought grit, muscle and an evocative realism to the sidewalks of his New York neighborhood, violent as they are and were. Born in 1952, Palmintieri grew up in a tough area of the Bronx and it gave young Calogero (Palminteri's given first name) the life lessons that would later prove very useful to his career. He started out pursuing his craft in studying at the Actor's Studio with Lee Straussberg. (chazzpalminteri.net)
Calogero Lorenzo "Chazz" Palminteri (b.1952) is an American actor, screenwriter, producer and playwright. He is best known for his Academy Award-nominated role for Best Supporting Actor in Bullets over Broadway, the 1993 film A Bronx Tale, based on his play of the same name, Special Agent Dave Kujan in The Usual Suspects, Primo Sidone in Analyze This and his recurring role as Shorty in Modern Family.
'A Bronx Tale' is a 1993 American crime drama film directed by Robert De Niro in his directorial debut and produced by Jane Rosenthal, adapted from Chazz Palminteri's 1989 play of the same name. It tells the coming of age story of an Italian-American boy, Calogero, who, after encountering a local Mafia boss, is torn between the temptations of organized crime, racism in his community, and the values of his honest, hardworking father. The Broadway production was converted to film with limited changes, and starred Palminteri and De Niro. (Wikipedia)
The Charlie Rose Show (PBS/1991-2017) is an American television interview and talk show, with Charlie Rose as executive producer, executive editor, and host. The show was syndicated on PBS until 2017 and is owned by Charlie Rose, Inc. Rose interviewed thinkers, writers, politicians, athletes, entertainers, businesspersons, leaders, scientists, and fellow newsmakers.

Growing up in Brooklyn I remember a story my dad told me. He was in front of his house and saw a mob hit. He ran in and told my grandmother. She slapped him across his face and said “what did you see”? He said it again. She slapped him again. She again said what did you see? He said “I didn’t see nuthin mom”.

They get up when it’s still dark, maybe work a second job, keep their nose clean, friends with everyone but don’t get involved with bad company, buy a little house, go to the Astoria Manor or St. Anthony’s Feast, watch Lawrence Welk, eat baccala, broccoli rab, save every cent, send their son to good schools, respect the law, and they don’t complain! They just want you to succeed, and thanks to them, many do. This is an important film, thank you 🙏🏻

Im glad Mr. Palminteri stayed true to himself and refused to sell out and walk away from the project. Because of that DeNiro stepped in and he got his big chance to make the movie his way and star in it.
