The key to a lot of bad suits I think is overcomplicating things. Making the spider symbol too elaborate, too many colours, abstract patterns. It's not shocking that some of his most popular outfits - like the black suit or the silver armor - are incredibly simple and easily replicated.

I disagree. If there’s a reason for the complicated design, and it complements the aesthetic, then it’s fine by me. The TASM 1 suit is extremely complicated but it aligns with Peter’s character at the time and shows that he’s not quite there in terms of being the classic Spider-Man

@@Revali69420 I agree, I do think that a lot of newer designs over complicate for no reason. I just wanted add that it isn’t overcomplicating the design that’s bad, it’s doing so without purpose.

Honestly why the hell didn't they just use the red and gold comic book Iron-Spider suit?
I like how the eyes pop off of the new venom suit. That type of stuff just makes me point at the book.
I do agree that in the comics, that ben reiley hoodie suit does suck, but in insomniac, they did such a good job making it look nice, imo. Especially with the recolors, that the black variant of that suit would be my go to suit of choice. However, I do wish there were more Scarlet Spider costumes in the game

Ok yeah the goblin suit is bad but hear me out... The concept art for it honestly looks kinda cool. Maybe change up the logo a little bit and it's a really unique and fun redesign. I also really like the idea of a digital mask that allows Peter to be more expressive. Plus the arm bombs are a nice touch and I think if this suit wasn't made by Norman Osborn and it wasn't in this awful run more people would enjoy it.
Also can we talk about the Chasm suit because man the run sucks but that suit is absolutely amazing and I wish it could have been made by some alternate Spiderman so the suit could get some love because it is amazing.

Weirdly, the MCU Iron Spider suit has grown on me. I was initially put off by how cluttered and clumsy it looked as well as how obviously it didn't resemble the classic Iron Spider suit at all, but... idk, I like it in the same way I like the Spider-Armour Mk. IV, it looks something like a regular Spider-Man costume yet it's evidently armoured and not cloth.
I think Bens return suit is good overall design but the artist didn’t do it justice

Honestly I'm a sucker for weird and dumb 90s designs so Cyborg Spider-man is up my alley.
Also I think tbe cybernetic arm is pretty much just a high tech cast that allows him to still move his damaged arm.
Also a funny thought came to my head, Invincible also had to wear a high tech cybernetic cast arm in the comics too.

I honestly like the Threats and Menaces suit. It doesn’t suit Peter obviously, but it’s still a decent design for a Spider-Man costume. I like the camera-like lenses and the color scheme is pretty nice. If there weren’t so many segmented parts on it, I think people would’ve liked it more.

Nora, can I say one quick thing about the corporate suit. yes, I agree it is an awful look for Peter; hell, he was embarrassed to be wearing it by the end of the run. but I think that's what Nick wanted us to feel. he wanted use to look at the suit and hate it. It's meant to be a plot device to remind Peter that he isn't a sell-out. at least that the vibe I got from the way the comic was written

i like the scarlet 2017 suit, just not as a replacement for the classic scarlet.
Well I don't hate the live action Iron Spider suit I do absolutely agree on that blue and white corporate suit and ditto for the current run suit based off of the goblin. At least one of those suits were only used just one run while the other continues to be absolute trash.
I personally really like the mcu iron spider suit especially because it has 4 arms which the comic version only had 3 for some reason. I also like that it feels like a suit that tony made for peter instead of a suit that tony would make if he got spider powers instead of Peter but I can understand why some people hate it. Also I find it stupid that the scarlet Spider-Man suit didn't appear in Spider-Man 2.

I think Insomniac added a lot of unnecessary paneling and lines to the alternate costumes in the first game, (don't own a PS5, haven't played 2, don't spoil it for me for the love of god.) But I think one look that would look really good in the sequel as an unlockable suit, is the Poison Symbiote Spider-Man from Venomverse. I love that design.

I’m so glad Someone else doesn’t like the white 2099 suit. It just feels like to much. It wouldn’t be as bad if it wasn’t meant to be a replacement for the one of the coolest costumes ever.

The new design of the white layer over the fist and forearms is inferior to the old design.
The belt flares out too far from the central red part.

I love the white Spider-Man 2099 suit, but I agree the suit Ben Reilly wore for the first 3 issues of the 2017 series was bad, I’m surprised it’s in the ps5 Spider-Man 2 game

I personally like the Peter David Scarlet Spider, I like the red spider. And I personally like hooded Spider-Man suits.
I gotta say, not a lot of people trash Humberto Ramos, but I'm happy to hear it, cause i've never really been a fan.
I dont think the scarlet spider 3 suit is bad, i like the design. The only issue i have with it is the way it was drawn in the comics, cuz in other art made by other artists it looks kinda sick
My main issue with that suit is the change in mask. If he had the original mask with it, then it’d be a 10/10 for me.

Ha, the uh. ORDER of this ranking might more be my nit pick, but I just took it that you weren't listing these from best to worse at all and just enjoyed the video. Was Cyborg Spider-Man an era-intentional design, or more a parody of past design choices? I could imagine the latter easily; Deadpool would clearly rank it as Spidey's hottest design, of course. 2099 'Supermanified' version and Spider-Carnage Cheeks def deserve to be on this list as worse offenders. I actually KINDA like the new Scarlet Spider design EXCEPT for that stupid, weird grin effect myself, but the Insomiac version was way better on top of that. Nothing beats Ben's original design, though.
Then again, I'm someones whose fave is the live action and Insomniac versions of the 'homemade' suit, so maybe I should sit down. I'm a sucker for clunky/trying their best/salvaged outfits.
I actually quite like the Cyborg Spidey suit. It's *so* over the top and that's what makes it great.

An artist's artstyle is like a fingerprint. Let people make it their own instead of always re-packaging a nostalgic classic, because for some reason people hate that too. Learn to accept change. If you can't, do the art yourself and make the change YOU want
Yeah, the new Insomniac suit is great but it could be way better if they tried to add some of the og insomniac suit's lower half to it as well.

Edit: also this is unrelated but I hate how the meeting point of the belt and torso Red's on damn near EVERY MCU suit has that little fuckin slab. I don't even know why it pisses me off but it really does, especially playin Spider-Man 2 cause the "NEW RED AND BLUE SUIT" looks SO FUCKIN GOOD until I notice the slabs again

The Holland Iron Spider suit was the first I saw of Iron Spider so it makes me think it's a good one and also I hate yellow and orange colours for some whatever reason so I preferred the MCU one over the Comics one
How did the MCU ruin such an iconic (AND SIMPLISTIC) design? Honestly tho, the Oscorp suit looks like a weird-ass concept 9 year old me would've come up with
I actually liked the new lenses on the new symbiote suit. The spider symbol however, just, why? The logo was fine, it looked like a bat almost, and that was the coolest part. The suit no longer looks like a corruption of Spider-Man, it just looks lame. The symbol isn’t fierce, it doesn’t incite fear in the hearts of those unlucky enough to see it, it just looks worse.
Also I hate the MCU Iron Spider suit. I don’t know a single reasonable person who sees the suit as superior to the original. You know how at the end of the Avengers game everyone has stark tech added to their suits, that’s what this looks like. It doesn’t even look like a combination of Spider-Man and Iron Man. It could’ve literally just been generic armored tech that could’ve been made by anyone else really
I think one of the worst suits is Miles' 10th anniversary suit. It looks like they tried to move it as far away as possible from his classic suit and somehow it looked worse than Peter's human spider costume. I also didn't like his new suit in Spiderman 2. It seems like every time they try to give miles a new suit they go way too far in the wrong direction and feels more like they ran out of ideas and wanted to give him a new suit just to show character growth or just because.
Finally someone gets it. I'm not a huge fan of MCU Iron Spider. I prefer the OG comic Ver.
I understand most of these, BUT THE PETER DAVIS SCARLET III SUIT ISNT THAT BAD (except for the grin we don’t mention he grin) plus almost everything except the ps4 suit is worse than this
This might be a hot take, but I'd put the ATSV 2099 suit on my bottom ten list. It's too overdesigned for my taste and too bulky.
My lord everything you said about huberto ramos is very his art is god awful. People want to talk about john romita jrs art. I think his excellent his dad john romita is my favorite Spider-Man artist of all time. Great video all valid points i lost it when you said insomniac Spider-Man suit was a basketball 🏀 😅😅 its true that orange was ugly.
I dislike Miles' pink suit, alot. Don't get me wrong, the story behind it is awesome, wholesome, and Spider-Man to a T. But the oversized sweater, and how he uses the neck of it as a second mask is just yikes to me. I like the hot pink and black color scheme though. Just not executed well.
All the MCU Spider-man suits are trash imo and I feel the Scarket III suit looks better in game then it does in the comics....well the black and red version anyway.
I don't like ps4 or ps5 suit I really don't like random spaces in the red and the spider logo before the ps4 game was out me and my boss had been going at it over it for weeks he loved it and I didn't I think he was thinking about firing me lol

Yeeeah I agree with a lot of these. I will say I don't HATE the Iron Spider suit as much as everyone else, because when it first showed up it was hype as hell and I'm gonna be honest, it did it's job in the movies it was in (EXCEPT FOR SOME REASON THE ACTUAL SPIDER-MAN MOVIES BUT WHATEVER). The Insomniac one I don't think deserves to be on this list, but I agree with the critiques. Aaaaaand everything else needs to be fucking burned (I don't hate White 2099 but it's SO UNNECESSARY and Miguel's design was already PEAK).

I mean, yeah, the 2099 white suit is a bit much. But you gotta give it this: the spider on the front and back actually looks like well ...a spider. That and the only thing good about the spider goblin outfit is the glider. We all saw it on the black suit, that shit looks terrifying, But it's useful( If only we got the superior spider man arms to pair with it...) Also in spiderman 2, the other colors look a lot better on the scarlet 3 suit( Though that spidercide fucking color though...ech disgusting)

The Goblin spider is truly ass. I kinda like how the glider rests on the shoulders but everything else deserves to burn in a fire.
The MCU Iron Spider isn’t that bad on its own, it’s that it sacrificed peak Iron Spider design that makes it bad.
As for the worst for me, the 1602, Miles advertisement suit, Goblin suit,. Nothing else really coming to mind
I personally like the cyborg suit, but mostly because I don't take it seriously. It's dumb and over the top in a fun way, and I enjoy that. And the white suit is great

Ok... i like the scarlet spider suit... but not AS a scarlet spider suit. This is a design that should have been used for spidercide as it fits him way better than ben.
On the surface, if you squint it LOOKS like the scarlet spider suit, but as you take a closer look, the familiarity starts to fade away.
Kinda like spidercide and his 'i want to be ben reilly' deal.

Peter David Scarlet Spider suit: I think it's really cool and super underrated and would be even better if it wasn't for THAT STUPID MOUTH THING. Thank god for Insomniac's version of this suit
