    I love the shadow of someone comming down the stairs!

    • @RandomMakingEncounters
      @RandomMakingEncounters  2 года назад +1

      Nice spot! You have no idea how much grief that shadow caused. For a long time I actually tried to find a way to cast the shadow! At such a small scale, probably nearly impossible to do with any clarity. Then the "just paint it will ya!" lightbulb moment hit and I could move on with my life! Thanks for watching.

    Most early fairy tales from the Grimms Bros etc were all based on terrifying tales and legends..
    This is amazing but way beyond my abilities.
    I got lost at the electrics lol..fairy lights n a battery pack is about my limit lol.
    Fab to watch, thanku very much..

      Never underestimate the power of fairy lights and your abilities! The most important things when it comes to creating is enjoy what you do and do it for you! Cheers!

      Always learning and still giggle when something works out
      Cheers Kaz 😉

      LOL! Well I’m happy there were some gems in there! I’m basically a little on the lazy side when it comes to actual planning so a lot of what I do is find ways to avoid building myself into a corner. Thanks for watching and all the best!

    Fantastic!! Love all the "behind the scenes" stuff too. I've been aware of Book Nooks for a good while but I'm only now just starting to take a keener interest, your videos have helped to foster that, thank you

    • @RandomMakingEncounters
      @RandomMakingEncounters  Год назад +1

      I find them to be extremely challenging. The box creates immediate limitations that you have to design around to get the most out a a very small space. If you like world building, they're a great format. I think they may get a bad rap since there are a lot repetitive designs out there... they became a little commercialized. I really enjoy creating these small worlds that can be anything I want them to be. Take the plunge... you may get hooked!

    Wow, this came out really good...I'm also very impressed with your electrical skills.

    • @RandomMakingEncounters
      @RandomMakingEncounters  2 года назад

      Thanks! I've done a couple of nooks now that use sound and LEDs so I think my soldering is getting better. It's still a lot of wiring and fussy bits so I'm always trying to figure out how to make it faster and easier. Painting with the UV paint was such a nightmare that it's really put me off on using it as a material... even though it really looks cool when it works... oh well. Thanks again and thanks for the comment. All the best!

      Thanks! It only took three tries to sort it out! The huge learning was using that silicone tool as a brush to apply the liquid latex so I don't have to throw brushes away... who knew!? All the best!

    I think it's cool you have a tiny statue of the Celtic god Cernunnos in the display.

    • @RandomMakingEncounters
      @RandomMakingEncounters  2 года назад +2

      Nice spot! There’s always that split in fairy tale and fantasy between the old gods and the new. What primordial and wild powers would the Queen call upon for her transformation? Snow White is taken to the woods to meet her fate and initially sees the woods as something full of terror only to find that it’s really her perception that determines if nature is good or evil. The statue is a tiny reference to a time when the natural world was seen as something full of mystery and power. Thanks for watching!

      Thank you! Funny you should mention this. I was just watching a video from another RUclips content creator discussing how it looks like subscribers are not being notified of content or not being shown recommended content based on their subscriptions. I hope the folks at RUclips re-tweak whatever they've tweaked to help deliver all of us content we're interested in. I appreciate the note and wish you the very best!

    When are you going to sell this in the Etsy shop? Love the extra space. I’d love to see you do a trash to craft challenge.

    • @RandomMakingEncounters
      @RandomMakingEncounters  2 года назад

      LOL! I put so much dang time into these I have a hard time parting with them. I love the trash to craft idea. It goes against my nature to basically overdo everything! It might be healthy ;) All the best!

    Where did you get the Arduino board with the MP3 player module, this is not a typical development kit, looks like you have a specfically designed board with the player hard mounted, as well as terminal blocks for other lighting... curious where you got it?

    • @RandomMakingEncounters
      @RandomMakingEncounters  2 года назад

      That would be something I whipped up. I got tired of proto-boarding. Here’s a link to my site showing the boards - randommakingencounters.com/arduino-neopixels-dfplayers-and-circuit-boards/
      One important thing to note is I’m not an electrical engineer… they work… usually… but I have no expertise designing PCBs. They’re also pretty focused on solving for one thing so I often find they’re too specific to my ever-changing projects. Not sure if that helps or not. All the best!

    Omg I absolutely love this! Your work is impeccable, I love how clean and perfect it all looks…very very professional. Even the wiring looks tidy and you never see that with other handmade book nooks. Do you have an Etsy or sell any of your work? You should because I’d love to buy this lol!

    • @RandomMakingEncounters
      @RandomMakingEncounters  2 года назад +2

      There's so much time that goes into them that I have a hard time parting with them. Pricing is tricky too. I'm not sure where to even begin... I think that is a common dilemma with things that take a long time to make. Side note... saw a video on "The Last Model Ship Builder in England"... or something close to that. He's made something like 12 ships his entire LIFE!!! Either he sells each one for a zillion dollars or clearly has other income sources :) Incredible work but not a great business model. Thanks for the kind words and all the best.

    • @RandomMakingEncounters
      @RandomMakingEncounters  Год назад

      LOL! Sadly, they are like my children and never leave my sight... oh wait... uh... that isn't quite right! There's so much time... maybe too much time... put into 'em that I have a hard time letting go. I'm sure there's something to unpack in that but I haven't reached a point where I've considered selling them. Thanks again for the comment. All the best!
