What Is Discharging From Speech Therapy?

  • We are excited to invite Dana M. Bryant on our channel for this mini series. In this video she discusses what it is like to discharge, or "transition" :), from speech therapy.
    Dana is a Speech Language Pathologist with 8+ years of experience working with individuals with neurological disorders.
    Dana received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology- Sociology from Birmingham Southern College in 2010. She then earned her Master’s degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from the University of Georgia in 2013.
    Dana maintains a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice speech language pathology in Virginia and Alabama. She is an ASHA ACE Award recipient and belongs to the ASHA Special Interest Group 2: Neurogenic Communication Disorders.
    Dana currently works in an Outpatient Clinic in Virginia serving military men and women with Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI). There, she works on an interdisciplinary team using a whole person approach to treat patients in both individual and group sessions. Dana's other efforts include serving on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee at her job and serving as a Clinical Compass App Guide where she mentors and advises other SLPs on Cultural Competency and Auditory Processing.
    When Dana isn't working as an SLP, she enjoys reading, traveling, yoga, and spending quality time with loved ones.
