One year Appelgren was scheduled to play in the US Open but didn't come. Butterfly had made a special racket for him, and I bought it. I played with it for many years and still have it. Loaded with touch but slow by today's standards.
You're so damn right. These generation had tabletennis celebrated. They "played" the game, the actual top-players is "working" on the table. Not more than 3 rally's, very short Ball changes. Last year i visited the WTTC in Düsseldorf, and only the "old" players like Boll or Samsonov played attractive tabletennis. The final was only a boring match. Maybe some good final shots, but at no point the ball crossed the net more than 3-4 times.

Great win for the Apple. Good to see these guys back on the table. Their generation was so much more fun to watch than what's going on now.

Appelgren reached the MS QF in the national championships 2011. At age 50 he lost in the deciding set.
Appelgren was still playing in the first division in Sweden at the time. Kept his game well.
Da seh ich doch den Richard Gügel im Hintergrund als SR
War das schon Finale ?
