  • This is the recording of Julius Caesar's first book on the Gallic Wars, in which he tells us about Gaul's geography and people. Furthermore two battles are described in it: the first one in which he defeated the Helvetii, who wanted to conquer all Gaul after going forth from their territories, which they thought to be too narrow to their population's extent and renown for warfare and bravery; the second one, in which, after trying to come to terms with Ariovistus, the German king, throught his ambassadors, he was driven to fight and defeated him.

Thanks for your work! I love your videos. Personally, I prefer the ecclesiastical pronuntiation because most restituta speakers (at least in my experience) have a really strong American accent and exaggerate the long vowels. Still "de gustibus non est disputandum" and there are excelent speakers in both classical and ecclesiastical pronuntiations. I count you as one of them so pay no attention to the haters.

Beautiful Latina Ecclesia. I like the classical pronunciations personally, but my accent is too strong. So I end up sounding Ecclesiastical anyways.

Commenters seem to have a hard time understanding that many people that learn Latin WANT to learn standardized pronunciation instead of reconstructed and specifically look for videos like this.

Hi my friend. My decision to use classical pronunciation is extremely recent. Caesar's Gallic Wars, however, was one of my first audiobooks. Check Cicero's De Amicitia with classical pronunciation here (maybe you enjoy it): ruclips.net/video/k3DCcrmtESg/видео.htmlsi=ESy8xF76vRvrFbFs

Italian is real Latin in any case. Classical Latin spoken to Italian style Latin is fine like the New Testament using modern Greek pronunciation is fine. It is in any case good for the brain to absord different pronunciation schemes. You may end up with a favourite of course. It's good to be exposed to both.
