Right? My go to is usually the most purple sharpness(with Sharpness+2) and affinity available for each element, since I use SnS most of the time.

I appreciate that my man :) Ofc with Iceborne so near, we're all gonna be playing that but GU goes on sale almost all the time now, just recently it $15 on Amazon for a bit. So you might be able to snag it quite cheaply. If you don't have a switch though then thats a different story. Cuz that badboy never goes on sale lol.
Herny yeeah, I’m stuck on a PS4. Not complaining, but I would love to play GU someday. The new styles make the game look so much fun to play. One day maybe I’ll get a switch though.

Loving the videos man, you're probably one of the best MH youtubers at the moment. I haven't hunted elderfrost much yet but I was looking for a good Lance so I might try and work towards getting this one.
You know, this is sorta like something the monster hunter math guys Jin Jinx and Tuna would do but without the unnecessary explanations that take up 20 minutes of my day. Plus, you're just much more engaging to listen to and I don't know why I rewatch your educational types of videos, but I guess that means you must be doing something right.

I stumbled upon a list of the "meta" weapons for MHGU since I wanted something to do while waiting for Sunbreak since I've milked base Rise for all its worth. At least half of the fourteen weapon types had the Elderfrost weapon in their top 5, if not being the actual best. And they were EXACTLY the weapons you mentioned, even being the best choices for DB, SnS and IG. But the Elderfrost Grandslam, which you said was "meh" was still listed in the #6 position.
The downside to the Elderfrost Mythmaker, though, is that it's _only_ really useful against status-spamming monsters like Dreadqueen Rathian. More generally useful HH for multiplayer include the Daybreak Horn (Deviant Narga HH) or the Grunlicht Flap (Astalos HH), due to the combination of their killing prowess and their song lists. Most importantly, if your Horn wants to be "meta", it needs some way to increase Attack, and the Mythmaker does not do that. Ironically, the list of meta solo HH includes the Hellblade Glavenus one, the Gore Magala one, the final Bone Horn and - get ready for this - the _Redhelm Arzuros_ one.

I really liked this video, actually legit didnt know you before and had this in my recommendations.
You should do a similar video for other deviant weapons, not necesarily good ones but just an explanation on which weapon is good and which isnt.
You could start off with "usually good" ones (aka deviant glavenus, caenataur, narga, diablos).
Plus some good lagombi, tigrex, mizutsune weaps...

The elderfrost CB would be one of the weapons that would really benefit from the Spinning Axe playstyle from Rise, since the elemental and phial damage turns into a small bonus rather than being an integral part of the damage

In GU, because of the exclusion of subspecies (most ice-weak monsters are subs for some reason), almost all monsters with an ice weakness also have a really bad element:raw HZV ratio (because their raw hitzones are so good, eg zinogre and rajang), which is why the EF DBs are even the most-used ice DBs in TA. It's rare for any other ice weapon to be heavily-used.
Also because the hardest-hitting hunting horns don't get attack up, the EF horn actually doesn't lag that far behind them SOLO. Of course, the more players you add, the more of a difference the attack up melodies will make. With that said, status negate trivialises DQ. Without it, randoms in G rank triple cart to high rank DQ all the time, while with it, EX DQ is about as threatening as a regular pink rathian (ie not very). Divine protection and status boost, plus a KO or two a hunt and probably at least one exhaust too, aren't too shabby either.
Anyway, I think you missed something kind of key that underlies the weapons where EF options are actually used a lot in TA, which is that they are the weapons where striker is the strongest style (Lance, SA, SnS and DB, namely). Also, you had a bit of a double standard, saying the IG was good but the GS wasn't, when both are CLOSE to the best, but categorically outclassed by better options.
and shit, I should probably add if you're a patrician that plays an actual Lance style and not rhenoplos style, elderfrost SUCKS for lance. Readiness doesn't come up as often, any style besides guild or striker (not counting alchemy because using alchemy lance is something you only do as a shitty joke) only has one art slot and you probably want to use that on enraged guard anyway, and the weapon has much lower average MVs, meaning arts charge in more hits, meaning even if you are using readiness, it isn't going to be enough to keep white sharpness.
Basically what it boils down to is that EF weapons synergise incredibly well with striker style and absolute readiness. If you aren't using both of those two things, they generally won't be as good, except for HH, which can easily maintain white with absolute readiness on any style (as long as it isn't SPed) and doesn't have a better art to use.

Unrelated to this topic, but what armour skills/sets would benefit an Adept GS setup?
AFAIK focus doesn't affect adept GS much, so you would just go for the usual cadre of crit-boosting (weakness exploit, critical eye, challenger+2, crit boost and sharpness/razor sharp if applicable). If I'm wrong and focus does have a significant effect (I don't use adept GS much), then probably the same skillset as valor (for the mantis sword you'd go for focus, C+2, WE, CB and as much CE as you could get- +3 would score you 95% affinity).
I love the generation series of monster Hunter games. The only thing I’d change would be the Damage system. Just the way all the weapon classes do the same damage just kinda ruined the vibe with it but it’s still an amazing game
It's not that all the weapon types do the same damage, it's just that Generations shows the true Raw number for all weapons, instead of the arbitrarily bloated ones found in some MonHun games. Those true Raw values are still used in all the games for damage calculation, they're just hidden from view sometimes.
So, it's absolutely a good thing that Generations chose to show the true Raw, because it makes knowing which weapons have more Raw than others of a different weapon type much easier.
If all the weapons do the same damage then that's a good thing because it means it's a balanced game. *Cough* Rise *cough*
I've done the math. If the Elderfrost CB had impact phials, the diablos would still be better since it has 370 raw and hits purple with sharpness +2
so the weapons aren't bad, but with some incredibly notable exceptions, there are better alternatives
