I'm glad I'm not the only one who caught that. lol.
I'm hoping a multi party skirmish. The Weapons will be so big and so powerful, you can't fight it straight up with a single party. You need to have a full 9 members, split into teams to take even one of them down in multi stage battle in separate combat theater.
I would very much like to see Weapons vs Giant Mechs, controlled by the party members! It would basically be Pacific Rim gameplay.
Very exciting!
Lets just hope that the developers can pull it off so it doesn't end up like the sequel...

Pacific Rim never had a sequel. It's a stand alone movie with a satisfying end.

I kinda like the idea of Rufus getting to have a bad ass moment. We did battle Sapphire in a mechsuit in FF14 after all.
Ruby and Ultima seem like their battles would be fairly simple, same for Diamond. Emerald seems like a tricky one since it's underwater.
Still, cool idea to use Sister Ray some more.
Pretty sure part 3's gonna be called "Return" if we go by the newly released OST. Same happened with Remake's OST having a track named "Rebirth" by the end of the OST. Also yeah, I think Rebirth Sephiroth boss battle at the end of Rebirth shows us how WEAPON battles will work.
It's very much possible that "Return" is the name for part 3. Specially basing it of from Rebirth's OST, which reminds me, I gotta check the OST out too! Thanks for pointing it out
Didnt like the redesign of the weapons into a singular design of a whale
If they can give jenova multiple forms give the weapons their unique forms.
Also i prefered if the weapons had appeared like they did in the original
Also im looking at the advent children buhamut battle for the diamond battle along with a timer.
I think the Weapons will still have multiple designs, but the 2 whale ones are just the ones the party sees first.
Same bth I’ve got 3 theories about them
1- basically baby weapons not yet full grown and just mistaken for the real deal do to the mega materia they house
2-Harolds of the real weapons the last ditch effort by the planet to fix the problem before going the nuclear option
3-They have a guardian form and a destroyer form so right now like #2 they are just waiting for the final ok before letting loss

Based on what we have seen in Rebirth, it will be as simple as breaking out a boat, getting the harpoons and winches ready, and doing some old fashioned whaling. Like, seriously, of all the let downs in Remake/Rebirth (and there are a lot), turning Weapons into friggin small whales is pretty high on the list.
They are baby weapons as was confirmed in the Ultimania. We have not seen the actual weapons we are going to fight yet. Y’all need to chill

Ignoring the fact that they completely cheapened the WEAPONs by introducing them at this point of the narrative (just like they did with Sephiroth by introducing him at the start of Remake.), it still leaves 2 options. Either the WEAPONs are going to grow into larger whales, which is going to leave my whaling comment intact. Or they are going to evolve into the WEAPONs that we saw in the original game, in which case it raises the question of why they look like friggin whales in the first place, instead of just smaller, or even larval versions of the full sized WEAPONs.
