OR .... telling everyone to be quiet so you can record a specific part of a song and set it as a ringtone. 😂
That's what I had to do back in the day too.
Omg!!! Yasss!!! Specific part of the song + your voice recording for someone to leave a message 😂
Those were the good old days!!!
Yesss!😂
Oh I did this before!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yass classic
I know every generation says this, but the 90’s really were the best years to be a kid/teen!!! I feel like I lived a very well rounded childhood! Lol
stephanie s true! I was born 1995 and saw Toy Story on a tape! And watching Toy Story 4 was so surreal!
Same here! I was born in 1987 so the 90s was my childhood!
stephanie s Agree!🙂👍🏻
I agree!
Agreed was the best
Do y’all remember the struggle of using LimeWire! 😂
OMG YES!!! Burning CDs 😭
Struggle? Limewire was my love!!!!
Except when I unknowingly found porn
Liz 😂😂😂 I hate when I would spend forever to download a song and it was such bad quality lol
Omg yes and Kazaa!! Good one Stephanie!
Using a homephone to make calls, and your parents would pick up the other line to listen in...😑 lol
Andrea Canchela yes girl !! Lol so can relate to that lol.. I could hear them breathing on the phone lol
Andrea Canchela or start dialing while you were in love joning
I always brought other phones in with me lmao
We didn't have GOOGLE to learn about things/research for school reports. You had to *look it up* in an *ENCYCLOPEDIA* !!
ncA&Tstate and the encyclopedia was located at the LIBRARY 😂😂
Same!! How about having to locate the book you wanted in the library via the library cards?
This is soooo truueeee!!! 😁
And you couldn’t check it out you had to photocopy 100’s of pages for one school project. I tell me kids this nearly every time we google things for school, they have no idea if the struggles.
OR if you needed a book for a school project and it was already checked out 😩
Actually walking over your neighbors house and asking if they could come out and hangout
I miss all of the 90s shows like All That, Rugrats, Hey Arnold CatDog etc.. LoL 😂
Omg I loved CatDog's theme song 😂
Back then, when you miss an episode of your favorite show, it's gone forever and there's no way to rewatch it. 😭😭😭
If you have a cd player, you had to walk gently if not your music would skip lol 😂
The sound dial-up, thumbs up if you just heard the sound in your head 😂🤣🎶🖥🖥
Wow this is so nostalgic!
Does anyone else remember the scholastic book catalogs?! I would totally envy the kids who had money for book orders. 😂
Trinh Nguyen I used to circle everything I wanted in them but my mom could maybe afford one every once in a while lol
They still have it. I get it for my daughter now. I was too broke to get mine. I would just go to the bookstore and by a book mark that I was never going to use or an eraser lol
Yesssss!
AOL and chatrooms
Dial up internet
Walkmans
CD changers in the back trunks
Totally forgot about cd changers in the trunk
Omg my cousin would spend the night just so she could stay up all night fixing her MySpace page 😂😂 who remembers their top 8 😅😅
When I was a kid , we used to look forward to TGIF shows lol boy meets world, family matters, full house, step by step, dinosaurs. Those were the days 😆
I remember my teacher saying you wont have a calculator on u at all times! Lol well well well little did he know!
tarabera18 😂😂
When Google didn't exist and you had to use an encyclopedia to do research.
Listening to the radio and waiting to record your favorite song onto a cassette tape.
Jackie Yang I use to put in a blank cassette tape in my portable boom box and make mixed tapes. And I remember when the boom box would sometimes eat the cassette tape ribbon and I would have to roll it back up with a pencil. Lol
@@loverissa6043 omg, that was the worst! Lol.
Remember when everyone used a landline BUT if you had to make a call while someone was on the desktop computer you have to tell them “GET OFF THE INTERNET - I NEED TO USE THE PHONE!” Hahahaha
the beeping sound when someone else is on the line 😭
Omg right?! It was THEE worst! Lol
Btw - HI JUDY! 😭👋🏽💕
Picking up the phone for 5 secs to say "call me after 9" lol
💀or mobile to mobile!!!!
Lmao!!!! Yes!!!! "I can't use my minutes'
Yesssssss!!!!!!!!! ❤️💙💚💜
I totally miss Blockbuster! I also thought it was fun to look at all the movies , rent and then choose a candy and popcorn to take home.
Diana E for real they need to bring it back I would go lol
Diana E i discovered so many more movies walking around Blockbuster than I do in the sucky Netflix search.
Going to the TV guide channel and if you miss the channel you’d have to wait until it went allll the way through to see yours again.
Or having to have your TV on channel 3 to play video game consoles.
Yes, this! Mom is still pissed they dont have the guide channel anymore Haha
Yes I remember! or even before that we were using the TV Guide booklet!!!
I use to remember back in my day I use to watch Disney movies like on vhs tapes
I would rush to sometimes tape them,or put the paper in the VHS...when I discovered I could!!!
Omg Judy that’s hilarious 😂 In college my roommate and I recorded our answering machine message to Eminem’s “Slim Shady” the part Hi my name is 😂😂we inserted our names. We thought we were so 😎
omg 😂
I can totally relate🤭 Back when I was a freshman in college I taught my little sister all the words to "No Scrubs" by TLC😜. When she came to visit me at my dorm I recorded her singing it for my Voice Mail Greeting. She was only around 4 back in 1998.
AOL and Dial Up! Can’t use the phone when you are on the internet 😂
NOOO!!!!! Haha i can totes hear the dial up in my head!
I was born in 1983 I remember Dial up internet, pagers, recording on vhs, payphone, AOL and cashing a check before direct deposit.
The struggle of recording your fave song in a cassette tape via radio show and praying that the radio dj will not talk during the song.
*67 to prank call your friends lol
Who still remembers their first phone number and the numbers of your best friends?
I do.... from early 90’s
YasmineJasmine yep, my mom made me recite it constantly until I remembered it. And I remember my best friend’s landline. Now, nope don’t know anyone’s phone number lol.
My voicemail used to be songs! I used to sit in front of my cassette player or CD player, with my phone held up to the speaker trying to record my outgoing message. 😂 Which reminds me, do you remember walkmans and portable CD players? Oh my goodness!
yes yes and yes!
Yess!! The portable CD player.. you had to hold it very carefully so that the song wouldn’t skip haha 😂
Omg yes!!! Lol!
Jake Luna I totally did that!!!
TGIF on ABC!! Family Matters, Full House & Step By Step. Ugh I had nostalgia watching this video!!
Yooo FLOPPY DISCS!!! I would pick my own color, write my lil name on it and save like 2 photos on there 😂
N H 1.44MB!
I love this! We didn’t have cable for a while but I always looked forward to TGIF, they would play Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Family Matters & other shows. AIM messenger. The pager days when you didn’t have a cell phone yet and trying to communicate through numerical codes lol omg. Or finding a payphone to use when you did get paged. Everything is so nostalgic, kids nowadays will NEVER understand.
No Siri back then but we had... Ask Jeeves for everything 🤣 or telling someone not to call your house until a certain time because you’d be on the net for hours (Hint: House phone would be busy for so long)
Man those were the good days!
We sure did! LOL
LOL
I remember being so excited when catalogs were mailed to my house like dELia*s and Alloy. Hand writing item numbers and snail mailing it back to order things.
Now you just go on a website, click and add to cart.
Burning CDs! Before that even, having a cassette tape you could record songs from the radio on - ready to go. You'd be listening to the radio, and when "your song" came on, you'd have to quickly hit the two buttons at the same time to record it. That way you could listen to it later. :)
Getting up to go sharpen a pencil in class at the pencil sharpener on the wall, so you could walk past your crush. ;-)
Free night and "Weekend Minutes" when cell phones first came out - if you used your minutes during the day, you were SOL real fast. So you had to wait til after 9pm or some time to call your friends. Oh, calling cards! : ) For calling long distance. My cousin had a b/f who moved to another state, and rather than call long distance on her home phone or use her cell phone minutes, she'd buy a calling card from the corner store... Wow! Forgot about those!
No DVR back then - we had to record/program shows on VHS tapes to watch later. Now you can just go online or Xfinity Direct (cable) to look up you missed show.
Me yelling "Mom, can you hang up the phone, I want to use the internet..."
I remember having a Nokia phone that looked like a soap bar 😂
I'm an 80's kid, my mom always had a map and a magnifying glass. I hated pulling over while she figured out, where we were on the map. 😂 Boy, I miss her and those "good old days"!
What about talking on the phone to your boyfriend and then hearing your brother or sister giggling because they picked up the other landline 📞
Buying actual cds for a CD player . I couldn’t wait to buy a cd.
Having an actual “mouse” for the computer and having to take the bottom ball out to clean the fuzzies off the sides!!!
Ordering stuff through catalog and the home shopping channel!!! Highlights too!! That was my childhood.
the stress of stopping the recording of a song before the DJ started speaking again... man, it was a job
Even patience like a circle in the girls time is near obsolete. I used to love that.❤
Omg, I was just talking to my husband on how our kids wouldn’t need to go to a library to get a book in order to research something!.....all they have to do now is look it up on their phone/tablet! Crazzzyyyyy how times have changed!
Having to rewind a movie to watch it from the very beginning. Or how about telling everyone in the car to be quiet so that you can record your ringtone 🤣
Blockbuster had the stickers that said "be kind rewind"
Portable CD players and writing in an address book 😂
I used to hook my disc Walkman to my car cassette to listen to cds, lol but when u hit a small bump 🤣
I LOOOOOVED my cordless phone that was a transparent purple and it would light up when someone called 🤣🤣🤣
Yes I had the same one...teen line
And rapping along to the intro to "Fresh Prince" with my brother whenever it aired. That was our show!
Running downstairs and waiting in front of the TV to see if there was a snow day hahahah
The 90s was so much fun what about the beepers
Using a cassette to record my favorite songs off the radio so I could play them when I wanted.
I miss the 90s and early 2000s those years are treasured I love passing notes with friends because we are not classmates.
Sending pictures and voice cassette record tru mail to ur love ones abroad... 😉😉😉
Going to library in our school to reseach/read books...
Using payphone booth to call ur friends/classmates...
jokath zurcaled omg so kids these days even go to the library at their school to research for papers or do they do it all online now?!
- Floppy disc or 3 1/2 disc
- Saturday morning shows
- VHS tapes and watching the "Coming soon..."
- Calling your friend's house and perfecting, "Hi, may I speak to _______, please?"
I also remember when you watch movies or tv shows you can’t stop it when you need to get food or go to the bathroom. If i5 commercial breaks you have to get back on time or you missed it and you need to wait til they replay the show to watch it. 😂😂😂
MsCtina omg trueeeee hahahaha
The music!!! TLC, Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica, Tupac, 3LW, and the list goes on. Omg who remembers One Voice?😱
Never had cable, but I remember waking up early every saturday morning to watch looney tunes. Lol
The biggest take away you hit right on the head was the concept of "patience". Waiting to develop photos, waiting for new episodes of shows, etc.
As a school going kid who remembers searching for English dictionaries for word meanings, writing down the phone numbers in a small phone book, playing a CD/ VCD cassette in a player and binge watch in the weekends, recording our own voice in an empty cassette and then repeatedly enjoying our own voice.... those were the days. Best childhood.
-wearing watch just for the sake of knowing time(not for fashion)
Anybody else used to listen to the countdowns on the radio only to record them on cassette? ✋
Our kids will never know the struggle. 😂
About the patience part: But they've learned to be "patient like a circle"! I'll never forget that, and I'm saying it to my daughter too, lol.
As a young millennial, I’m just throwing out there that I experienced ALL of these. Just saying.
People keep coming for us. 😂😂 But the youngest millennial today would be 24.
It’s the Gen Zers that will never understand. Lol
ErikitaBeauty thank you!! I’m 24 years old & I was saying the same thing lol.
Saaaame
It feels so good to come back to your channel after a while don't know why I stopped watching, you have always been my favorite since I was like 18yrs old (now 26). It feels like a therapy session tbh, I see how humble you bengie and the girls are. Takes me back to realize what's important in life. You might never see this comment but thank you for always being there.♡ [[1st video I ever watch of yours was back in itsjudytime ♡ how to curl you hair using a straightener]]
I loved this. Laughed way too hard. 😂
0:11 soO my voicemail back in the day... answering machine, freakn pager voicemail 😂😂🤣🤣🤣 THOSE WERE THEM DAAAAYS!!!!
how about recording a song you liked when it came on the radio on a TAPE!
Does anyone remember when you walk into Walmart and a staff member would give you a smiley face sticker? Was this just the store I went to?!😂
Blockbuster was the best thing I did on the weekend. Another thing is -- looking at newspapers for movie theater showtimes or calling the movie theater itself! There was also no way to buy tickets in advance, so you'd have to go really early.
These were great & definitely a blast from the past!
Big one for me was dial-up, every time you wanted to use the internet you couldn't use the phone and I remember the distinct sound it would make when it would connect.
Omgoodness so many memories growing up in the 90’s. So many vivid memories of dial up internet and you’d have to wait to connect listening to the static for what felt like ages and you finally connect to the internet and then someone would call on the house phone 🤣😂🤣
Wait, I thought Amanda Bynes had her own show. The Amanda Show
that was after she was on All That.
Okay so my childhood was in the 80's and my teenage years and early 20's were in the 90's haha...So, things I remember that kids won't ever understand...pay phones, having a beeper and figuring out ways to make words with numbers on the beeper lol, phone cards, collect calls, three way calling with your friends, no home computers (well I didn't have a computer until I was 18 and in college), AOL, when MTV actually showed music videos, dial up modems....oh man I can go on and on haha.
I was born in the 80s and we used to request a song on the radio, then wait patiently for the DJ to play our song so we could turn around and record it on tape before the single came out!
downloading songs from limewire and making your own mix tapes/cds is definitely my favourite memory of the 90s/early 00s
also putting a vhs tape into a tape rewinder after watching it!!
Having a cool away message on AIM!
Pimping out your xanga and MySpace with HTML codes!
And feeling so cool when you flip open your sidekick phone 😂
OMG I used to have AIM. When I got my first Sidekick that's all I used.
Im so grateful I was born in the 80s best childhood ever
Wait I just uploaded a laundrochat today too! 😂😂😂 Love you!! ❤️❤️❤️
MichellePearson just subscribed to you! Watching your laundrochat now!
I'm not sure why, but I feel like you're so refreshed lately. Like you're a Judy 2.0 , I love it!!! 💜
I LOVE THIS KIND OF VIDEO! Please do more Judy
When you would have to either honk the horn or knock on the door for ppl to come outside lol.
Or waiting until 7 or 8 P.M. (I can’t remember which time) to talk on the cellphone for free 😂😂.
Real 90’s....before lime wire... waiting for your favorite songs to come on the radio so you could hit the record button and put it on a tape! 😂 I also did the voicemail song when I finally got a phone 😂😂
It’s really impressive that Judy does the house chores herself. I’m sure she’s making that coin and can easily afford help.
Mapquest seems so archaic now like if your lost how do you get back to the last point in the directions? I remember just being old enough when I first started driving printing off directions to go to job interviews and such. I’m shocked that I was able to navigate because even now I’m terrible with directions. But honestly when Mapquest came out it was like the “new new” technology and it was like a luxury to print off directions instead of trying to look at a map. 😂 oh lord what a time we live in. Thanks for the flashback Judy 👍🏻
Who remember pagers 📟 !! I thought I was so cool I would go to an actual pay phone to hear my message. Those were the good days.
I know y’all remember telling people to call your cells after 8 when minutes were free!!!!
I loved All That, amongst other 80's and 90s shows. I was born the head of 1990. I am surprised you didn't put up dial up internet 😂.
Great video! Took me back to my childhood. You and Benji should make a video or series about 80’s and/or 90’s nostalgia. That would be so much fun to watch!!!
Penny candy was a penny.
Using a cassette tape to record songs off the radio
Who remembers AOL when it was a thing to chat with friends haha. Oh and MySpace.
0:48 i still remember gettin all excited after turning in my rolls of film, wanting to see my selfies and photos with friends & group pics! I would keep the negatives of those pics, cut it and put it in my day planner wit the other photos 😅😅
Those were the days!! Ahhh. How I miss being at that time 💙
Aww I love walking down memory lane 90s was the best our generation is so lucky we had it all! I’m gonna make my kids remember numbers and things when they are little they will thank me when they are older. I remember everything like songs to numbers as a preteen teenager your brain just remembers it at that age!
I remember making playlist and burning them on CD’s
- msn on computers vs. iPhones & apps
- beepers vs. iPhone notifications
- letters/Christmas cards vs. email & apps
- actual shopping vs. online shopping
1. Watching MTV all day hoping your favorite music video would come on so you could record it. 2. Having to rewind your VHS every time you watched it and if the VCR ate it, game over. 3. Listening to the radio and waiting forever for them to play your favorite song. 4. Having to learn how to do your makeup through trial and error instead of watching tutorials. 5. When beepers were the coolest thing and people showed them off by clipping them on their back pockets. 6. POGS! Like really!? Why did we like those so much? 7. GigaPets...mine always died.
I subscribed to your channel because of this video, I got so much nostalgia from it, thanks you 😭❤️
Plz do a part 2 of 90’s memories like this 😊
Oh Judy you make me feel so old 😭 my Disney back in day was Nickelodeon. I used to watch Pinwheel, Finders Keepers, You can't do that on television and Mr. Wizard's World 😅 everything was fun and relaxing back in the day. You know when it's Monday it's going to be He-Man or She-Ra on TV and on Tuesdays it's Finders Keepers, unlike today you can binge watch all day your favorite programs. I love it like before, you get excited each time for TV time, it was so precious.
