It seems that Annie just wants to make friends with Nene, but Nene doesn't understand Annie.
Oh, there was so sweet and gentle moments between Ai and Nene... And it's so touching and sad in the moment when Annie tried to copy mother's behaviour with Nene. Again and again she's trying to get her attention and piece of love.

That was an incredible video. Everyone so lovie dovie and Nene right in Annie's face watching her when she was at the log. Then Ai and Nene too. It is quite rare with these guys. It is nice to see😊
There were so many "Oh my goodness that is so sweet/wonderful/beautiful to see" moments in this video that it is hard to pick a favorite. However, I have to say hands down that the moment that starts at 5:54 is my favorite. Nene actually reaching out to Annie and allowing her a quick snuggle 🤗😍❣ is a moment I have not seen before. 💞💕 In this video Nene lets Annie get so much closer to her than ever before. My take is that she was playing a bit with Annie but Annie is a bit too aggressive in play than Nene likes so eventually Nene put a stop to it. Nene was really curious today even looking at the people. Haven't seen that before either. And those mother-daughter moments between Nene and Ai were precious. Wonderful, Wonderful video i Bosch i. Is seems that towards the end of the video Annie saw what Ai did to get affection from Nene and tried to do the same but without any success. Poor baby. I really wanted to give her a hug watching her trying to win some love from her grandmother 😢
Agreed. Annie just wants the same affection that Kiyomasa and Ai get from each other, and Nene.
Shabani protects her, but he doesn't give the kind of tlc that she craves.
@@brownrabbitOk, I might be reaching here, but what if Ai's action was not only to show Annie how to approach her grandma but also to remind Nene of how to take care of a little one. There is no doubt that she loves Kiyo, but she hasn't been spending any lovey time with him lately either. When he reached for her head she actually showed him her non-existing teeth. 😀

Gisel Simon my take from being a grandma with arthritis and osteoporosis, children can hurt and have, little grandkids under 8 have hurt me to the point I got very irritated with them and yelled at them. I have got sad looks from my grandkids and I went and loved on the explaining how to be careful, so grandma doesn’t break anything. The older they get they know they can’t shove on me and run and jump on me. Probably the same for Nene, although I’m young, 58, to have such severe problems, Nene isn’t, she’s at the end of her yrs. She has trouble walking, I hope on pain medication and anything else that can make her elderly days easier. I have noticed she doesn’t love on Kiyomasa much anymore either, just sits by him.

Yes, I saw that Annie threw the twig at Nene, because Nene was ignoring Annie's attempts to be friends. Even after Nene had charged at Annie.
@@brownrabbit I don't see it as jealousy on NeNe's part. Her problem is she never saw Ai raising her baby (Annie) and rejected her. Ai rejected Annie when she was born too. And since then NeNe has never accepted that Annie is her granddaughter.

@John Wright Yep, si, oui and OH YEAH! Also, Ai’s first child by Shabani died after birth, and then Nene has Kiyomasa. Of course there’s jealousy there. From Ai’s perspective, her momma stole HER man and continued his bloodline whereas Ai FAILED.
I think it is more Nene who gets jealous and doesn’t want Ai mating with Shabani. She’s always offering herself instead and wants to remain the Alpha. I feel for Annie who is caught in the middle. Shabani is such a good father to her.

Yes, she was right in Annie's face at the log. Otherwise she either charged at her, or did her best to ignore her.
When they were at the log I guessed she was most likely being watched by Shabani. She looked over, and he appeared in view of the camera. Shabani looks out for Annie, but he doesn't provide the sort of affection that she needs. She clearly wants the piggy backs and cuddles that the others get.

We couldn't see Shabani. He was out of the picture, but I was guessing by the way Nene was behaving that he must have been watching. Sure enough, he and Kiyomasa then walk by!
@@brownrabbit Nene cant piggyback Annie. I f you have watched the early videos of how Nene was with Annie this is downright cuddly lovie dovie between Nene and Annie. I have never seen them interact that much before. Their relationship might get better now that Annie is bigger and stronger and not being a little stinker. Annie actually did a submissive move to Nene😊😊 I agree that Ai should piggyback her as much or more than Kiyo. 98% or more of the time silverbacks don't give piggyback rides 😊
@@twemontand @brownrabbit I've noticed that since the moved to the new enclosure everyone is more relaxed. They all interact more calmly. Shabani is no longer hitting Nene for a chase. Instead he is playing with Kiyo who's finally older. Nene is more tolerant. Ai seems to be coming out of her shell. Kiyo and Annie get to spend all that youthful energy without getting in anyone's way. There are lots of spots you can go to get away if you need your space. I think we are finally seeing the fruits of that. Relationships are getting better and healing. We might even get to see Annie and Nene finally bond. 💞

@@MegUSN52 , Tayari is hysterical the way she just walks up to DJ and hugs on him. I never saw a wife do that before and I watch a lot of Gorilla families. Tayari is so in love with DJ and she just "takes" the affection she wants from him. She is such a flirt and so damn funny. I think every Silverback should have a wife like Tayari that dotes on her Silverback Stud and cuddles him.
Could you imagine how happy & pumped up Shabani would be if he had a wife like Tayari who demands hugs and affection from him? LOL! Shabani loves affection and play from his family. Nene looks at Shabs like she wants to kick him in the ass. Alis in her own world. Shabani always tries to touch them as they walk by him. I think he craves affection from his Wives. Tayari is just adorable and wish the Zoo could get some new & affectionate Females here to have more babies with Shabs! He is the best Dad and more babies could help his heartbreak when Annie and Kiyo move into new homes to have their own families. I think Tayari would make any Silverback feel like a stud and happy. I love Tayari too, Baby Jabali is a lover too, just like Mommy. He is the sweetest little Guy!

Why was Annie human raised the first year and a half? Her mom didn’t realize she was her daughter when she was introduced.... to long separated maybe? I thought smell let them know they are related.
She was raised by the keepers but the family were still able to see her every day.

@@QuinKan43 -Ai's dad is Rickey.he died months after Ai was born.Ai's first baby was stillborn& Annie was born by C-section.so after her surgery-she didn't recognize she had a baby.Annie was raised by keepers for 1 yr& then reintroduced to troop.Kiyomasa is 7 mos older.Shabani was Annie's saving grace& also Kiyomasa as her playmate.😉🐵🌻

Nene sucks and there are reasons why we are human as opposed to the other great apes. Humans have empathy for those who aren't even their family. Nene only cares about protecting Kiyo and Ai cares about herself. I think Ai is intellectually and socially inept. If you watch her behavior throughout the videos it is the same passive vibe.
Gorillas help take care of each other’s infants and can be surrogate mom’s as well. I think the issue is with Nene herself. She wants to be the Alpha female (and she is). Ai has no interest in mating with Shabani, but I think that is because of Nene. Nene still offers herself to Shabani though I believe she is past reproductive years. Ai is dominated by her mother Nene. I have gotten to where I much prefer watching Iriki and Tayari from Taipei Zoo. They are half siblings who are protective of each other and their babies. Iriki is a wonderful aunt to baby Jabali…so affectionate to him. Now she has her own little one (Ringo), but she still gives Jabali attention too.

Sabe que eu achava a Nene muito antipática? Hoje penso diferente, na família Shabani é tudo quase que proibido. A Nene na verdade fica isolada, o grupo não brinca com ela, não são próximos, talvez por causa das agressões contra Annie e o posicionamento do Shabani. Isso quebrou um pouco da naturalidade do grupo.
