Can we take a moment to talk about how savage and fire Jennie’s rapping and vocals are ? She is so versatile and talented. Seriously, her deep voice is to die for. I can confidently say no other Kpop female rapper stands a chance against Jennie, seriously she is so skilled.
I can never understand how blinks constantly downplay her being an all rounder and ace. She is above average in all departments and very good live.

They SHUT IT DOWN This song throws SO much shade at their haters and doubters. The MV is an homage to previous MVs, it's jam packed with visuals and lyrics you have to watch it over and over to discover things. This is why they are where they are. IT'S GREAT

The reason they have their mv references is that they are showing the ICONIC eras they had and then pulling the shutter down because they're moving on from that to something different and new. That is why in the end they go up and when they get out of the lift, the lights turn on again to show their impact.
Also, my favorite references were the Jennie d4 tank which is a more upgraded model that they used in the d4 and the rose sitting on the world just like in their debut whistle however it turned black and pink showing their dominance.

Rose driving the car as call back to Kill this Love. Money raining on Jisoo as reference to Lisa's money and Rose's green fur coat is the one she used for her "Gone" mv. YG gave us 4 rappers 4 singers in SHUT DOWN. This comeback, the PINK VENOM & SHUT DOWN, the 2nd album is definitely an out of the comfort for the BLACKPINK and the blinks. Mostly expected too much because of the "2 year" absence of the group from the spotlight. BUT, YG/BLACKPINK DID DELIVER. It's just that it was not "the expectation" that we were anticipating. PINK VENOM was a homage to the hip-hop community while SHUT DOWN was the girls recognizing their back to back achievements since their debut. They are record breakers. Even the b-side tracks are so amazing. Vocals wise, they matured so much. I guess the 2 years break passed by for nothing.
If you are new to kpop or not a YG stan, PV and SD are a CLASSIC YG music. Reminding us who are the masters of hiphop in kpop.

As an ex-blink, I thought this song is actually very very very good. Beside the lit raps and meaningful lyrics, at last they came up with a descent and well thought chorus with rich filled lyrics and melody. Very nice.
