Hello Ceci. Thank you very much for your reaction to Angelina's new cover. I believe that in her last two covers "All I Ask" and in this one she's maybe showing us the musical direction of her upcoming album. It's gonna be interesting beyond words to listen to that album.
The musical talent and vocal skills needed to not only get away with, but to NAIL a performance like this is quite impressive, let alone by a 15 year old girl. The fact that we can hear her voice still developing is almost scary. What will she develop into in the next 15 years, right ? We're here for it. All of it.

Again, Angelina chooses to cover a song that is universally identified with the original artist. With Bohemian Rhapsody, or California Dreamin, or just recently, Heal the World, we kind of worry that maybe she should leave that one alone. But, no worries. You always hear Angelina’s respect for the original even when she gives us something completely different. And, like Billie Jean today, we get very jazzy, bluesy vocals with riffs, runs, and a lot of humming and vocalizations-but we understand the lyrics much more cleanly. This one was particularly interesting because Angelina can’t change the lyrics to a female perspective, as we’ve heard her do with other covers. But, of course, it doesn’t matter because we’re immediately hooked by how she’s decided to deliver this song we thought was untouchable.
So far, I think her decision to go with Republic Records has proved to be a great choice. We’re definitely seeing an expanded palette of music, but the Angelina we’ve loved for years and years is still there, leaning on her blues and jazz influences in different ways. (I’m waiting for some covers of Janis Joplin.)

Angelina has become even more audacious and creative, using her mastery of jazz techniques to show the world that iconic songs like Billlie Jean , can be flipped on its head whilst still paying respect to the originality of the song.
Nice reaction! Appreciate your comments. There are a few people out there who are criticizing her for even trying to "cover" this song. I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan, but I think she did one heck of a job changing it up and making it her own. Unfortunately, some people can't accept anyone trying to cover any classics. These so-called purists are a little too rigid and have a hard time opening up their minds to changes. Heck, she did her own version of Bohemian Rhapsody and Queen thought she did a wonderful job on her take of the song! Talk about high praise! Anyways, keep up the good work on your reactions!
