No one seems to talk about her at 6 years old. First time in a Studio. The power of her singing the words from a sheet of paper. Yet that power she puts out. And right timings. ( I Who Have Nothing) And two other songs.
I think the most impressive thing about 'I Put A Spell On You was the the arrangement that a 9 year old had the capability to do such an excellent job is truly amazing. Thanks very much for this great overall look at the path of Angelina's progression in her music and singing

"I'm A Fool To Want You" just showed, what Angelina is about. Her versatility, her voice improved, got more full, low register got stronger and her runs got perfect. But the essence of her was shown in the mentioned acapella performance.
I'm a Fool to Want You on NGT was my introduction to Angelina Jordan. I was surfing You Tube looking for another singer when l caught a glimpse of this little ragamuffin with one tooth in a long white dress with crazy long hair. I stopped in my tracks just to see what this little girl was about. I had no idea it was a talent show and wasn't in the habit of watching them. I saw Billie Holiday come back to earth through this child and l was totally stunned. I have watched and listen to this miracle to me everyday since. She brings me great peace and joy.

Angelina has said that if she hadn't discovered and started listening to Billie Holiday at a very young age, then she wouldn't be the Angelina we see on stage today. Other early influences include Dinah Washington and Whitney Houston. 👍

I am so glad that you started with I’m a Fool to Want You. Her tone, range, pacing, pitch, and colorings are astounding. Many point to her NGT Summertime performance or I Put Spell on You as her early accomplishments. But her cover of I’m a Fool… displays all of the roots of her talent. It is beautiful on its own for any singer let alone a 7 year old. And her sweetness and humility show at then end when she says thanks and walks away.
"I'm a fool to want you" will ever be my favourite performance by Angelina at Norway's Got Talent. Not only for the purity of her voice and her confidence in taking on such s legendary song but the fact that she sang so convincingly. It was easy to think that she had actually experienced the anguish and feeling of desolation as a result of a broken relationship.
There are three singers who does not need auto tune. First take is (almost) always pitch perfect. They are Beyoncè Knowles, Sam Smith and Angelina Jordan Astar.
Neither does Dimash Kudaibergen.

Es increible lo de AJ. Yo me enganché a su voz desde el minuto 0. Algo que me flipa es la capacidad para conmover, cuando ni siquiera entiendo lo que dice, pero la musicalidad de su voz me emociona, me perfora, me toca muy dentro, se me eriza la piel, vamos... podéis añadir todo lo que queráis en esta línea, porque he llorado emocionado, me he respigado de arriba a abajo, uff. Esa voz, esa interpretación, esa sensibilidad creo que no las había llegado a experimentas en nadie más (salvo mis eternos Dire Straits pero en otra onda). Gracias Ceci por tus reacciones. Y con sus composiciones, una vez traducidas las letras, más emoción todavía. Es como cuando escuchas una gran obra clásica, que da igual que entiendas o que no, te conmueve, un Lacrimosa o un Dies Irae del Requiem de Mozart, un Aleluya del Mesías... Que maravilla de voz.

Another thing I appreciate is how she decides to let us hear the in breathes, just another emphasis in the song...thanks to Ceci yet again!
She seems to incorporate everything available. I suspect her after "I'll be there" she even added voice cracking to her tool suite. I believe thats partly because she's (mostly I would say) an autodidact I we can believe what she said in an interview after NGT.
@@yves2932 To a great extent this is right, but the influence of voice teachers is evident in some clips that are part of interviews. And the only time I saw a bit of breath technique was a moment near the end of NGT Summertime...

Very nicely done Ceci. We are so fortunate that all of these steps in her evolution have been shared with us. It's not only her voice, it's the interpretation she can bring, the reinvention of old songs and the making of new ones. Here, with I put a spell on you, she took a theatrical performance by Jay Hawkins and extracted a song, it still told the story, but gave it new voice, with passion and conviction. She has an empathy that gives her such an insight into the human condition, I really can't find the words to explain. I'm just like Omer after Gloomy Sunday...
I enjoy your excellent analysis of Angelina Jordan’s beautiful voice. Especially noting how she doesn’t have to rely on the usual vocal tricks of the most popular divas of our time. Her choices speak directly to our hearts and our souls. She only uses what is required to evoke a song’s meaning and emotion.

Ceci, I don't know how I missed hearing this reaction to Angelina progressing from age 7 through age 14. I always look for your reactions to Angelina because they are always so insightful and revealing.
What strikes me after viewing this video is each performance of hers shows such talent by themselves, but when taken in a progression like this its obvious that her musical instincts are growing as well as her voice. As she has grown older there is a warmth, depth and resonance that wasn't there when she performed Summertime. The only time I have seen her voice and support strained is when she sang "I Have Nothing". Angelina's voice is so distinct that when she covers a song it is like there is Angelina's version and the original is almost like another song.

We all know her singing is otherworldly.... but it's so much more than that... she has healing qualities that I didn't know humans pocessed... I was not in a great place 2 years ago when one day I found Angelina.... or maybe she found me.... and I shutter to think where I would be now without her in my life... without any judgement Angelina gently touched my heart and soul and with delicate softness made me self aware of all my qualities good and bad... I am now and continue to improve on being a better person... funny I used to help people to selfishly feel good about myself.... now I help people and join in their joyous feeling of being helped with no self gratification needed... all this and more learned from this earth angel child that continues to unconditionally give whilst never asking for anything in return.... a true gift to a world that can do with a helping hand atm.... my dream is to one day meet AJ and simply say thankyou... and see her live concert of course... Thankyou Ceci for this wonderful re-reaction and for the love you have for Angie...

Para mí es la mejor voz de la década ,y eso que yo he escuchado a muchas cantantes buenas ,cómo por ejemplo la Diana Ankinova ,ella canta muy bien ,pero no me transmite nada.
En cambio Angelina ,se me eriza la piel ,su voz es adictiva , y te produce mucha paz en el corazón
Es una voz que te transporta a los años 40 , 50 ,60 de los cantantes de color.

Great collection of song that shows the genuis of Angelina from a early childhood to think that she could speak those languages and arrange the music and sing it almost pitch perfect just shows that her mind operates differently than others people when it comes to music. So much appreciate your including Yellow Brick Road as a step in Angelina's development. I had the impression that the judges didn't know what to say when they heard her sing that; I felt it was too sophisticated for them somehow. Of course there was in that moment the awkward dilemma of her not having agreed to become their merchandise, so perhaps that too was part of what tempered their responses. She included in that performance so many embellishments that few singers if any would think of, let alone be able to deliver flawlessly. And she continues to become even more remarkable. We are blessed. And your reactions to her performance really do help us notice what she is doing so effortlessly. Thanks for helping us hear AJ.

Ceci what gets me is that she did her audition (I’m A Fool) A CAPELLA with PERFECT pitch. I don’t know why more people don’t say something about that. Un saludo Doña Ceci, y un agradecimiento por el análisis técnico sobre las interpretaciones de AJ, a quien la escucho desde que ganó el Go Talent en su país, con la canción Gloomy Sunday, sobre el que menciona pero no lo analiza, no soy músico, pero tengo alguna formación sobre apreciación musical, y realmente quedé impresionado por la conexión anímica de la niña de 7 años y el tema, además de la calidad con la que cantó, este tema tiene una historia que creo le da contexto a la personalidad con la que canta, es un tema triste, muy depresivo, que es una característica del género musical que adopta AJ, ojalá lo analice, a UD. La sigo desde el 2021, y gracias nuevamente por orientación técnica sobre el canto en general.

Hi CECI I couldn't help but feel you were thinking about the first time you heard her when you played Summertime. Maybe play some of her stuff for your son for inspiration. The one thing that stands out for me when I hear her is she never fails to put a smile on my face. In these times it can almost be life saving for some people.
