I bet this book will be very helpful to people. I like Rob Bell...I think he is a great Christian teacher and thinker. I think his books have helped many people...I know they've helped me.
For people who haven't written a book or script (like I have) would struggle to understand what Rob is trying to explain. Writing a book is like putting a puzzle together. Each idea is like a piece of the puzzle, till you sit down & start putting the pieces together all you have are pieces to a puzzle. It's our choice if we decide to put the puzzle together - if we don't then God will use someone who will. This is about the process of writing. It's about where God is and how God is in creation.
Yay. I was wondering what he has been up too. I don't have to agree with everything he says, but I certainly love the way he writes and isn't afraid to ask tough questions and engage in meaningful dialogue.
Ahhh, another enjoyable book of ideas from the mind of Rob Bell...can't wait...pre-ordered on Kindle! Will start reading at midnight when it comes through :-)

Yeah I'm sitting here watching the video and seeing these negative comments and don't get it. And after seeing the definition of heretic, I think it is safe to say lots of Christians are heretic without even knowing it. You're right, it is a shame.
He doesn't talk about Christ as much as you maybe, but He talks about Christ a whole bunch. And Christ is His driving force for picturing God, I'm sure of it. The cruciform love of Christ is who God is and God is the cruciform love of Christ.
Rob Bell has a lot of controversy surronding him. He's a universalist (he believes everyone goes to heaven, or gets more than one chance after death to choose God). It has nothing to do with jealousy, hypocricy, being a "heretic", being pathetic or not liking him personally. It has to do with the fact that his claims don't match up with what God says. He's amending the Gospel of Christ so it's palatable, and so all accountability is taken off of the people who listen to him.

Actually My version of God is based on the Bible, the scholars that came before me and the tradition of the church that has existed since it's inception. Rob Bell actually has never said Anything that hasn't been said before by past theologians. I particularly don't trust JUST myself to interpret scripture or a handful of Pastors. Particularly I went to Seminary and studied probably a lot more than most Christians sitting in a particular church setting has.
I find it truly sad at all the negative comments on here against Rob Bell. In fact the arrogance of how much people are so sure that they can judge someone as well as thinking they know sooo much about "who God is" makes me sad. Your version of God is so small.
