Our head grower Brett is attempting to create a new Philodendron hybrid by cross pollinating a Philodendron radiatum with a Philodendron ligulatum var. heraclioanum!
Thank you so much for this video! I do have experience with anthurium pollination, but not with philos! I learned a lot from you today! Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻💚
So exciting! I never even thought about the fact that one can breed new hybrid species without having a laboratory. I mean picking the best traits from the crossing the same species was known to me, obviously, but crossing *different* species from the same family seem kinda crazy to me! Would love an update where the babies are there!
Can you please tell me how old these 2 plants are? How long does it take for a philo to get inflos? 🤔 I'm very interested . Can you make a video talking about How old these 2 plants are , How long it took to get these inflos?
How long does it take for the berries to form? Ps: Absolutely in love with this channel, I wish you nothing but success! I’ve already shared along to plant loving friends 🧚♀️❤️
If successfully pollinated the berries can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 12 months to develop depending on the genus and species. Anthurium berries seem to develop fastest, philodendron berries a few months, whereas our monstera berries took a year to fully ripen!
This is amazing. I was doing this in the early 2000s with cannabis. I’ve left that industry and now playing with philos . The ideas of hybrids are ends. Question, do hours of light produce Inflorescence or plant maturity?
I would love to see the whole process of collecting and sewing these seeds
We will add this to the list!
Yes I was just going to comment that!
@@GabriellaPlantsOnline Did anything grow yet? 👀 Did berries develop? I'm so curious omg

It really is. I had no idea about all of this.
Does resin precede pollen release? Or, can you explain the collection of pollen relative to resin exudation?

So how do you know the no little critters or insects have pollinated it before you got a chance to?
Their native pollinators are not native to Florida.
Update?
Failed pollination
