Thank you for the valuable video. As an outcome, it can be understood, that if someone has bad ralations with manager he probably will not get any promotion.

If every associate engineer in my team 'proactively' started executing 'senior' engineer's assigned activities just for their self-interest; I would have a a lot to manage on my plate and it definitely would disrupt the plan, capacity and expected quality. I believe proactiveness in asking for more responsibility is a good thing whether or not that responsibility is actually assigned should be a management decision because there are various factors involved. Managing people is the 2nd toughest job in certain industries, esp. Tech and therefore there is no 1 right/best way.

This is absolutely true, of course nobody should just do stuff without management approval. But if the associate engineers would give there best to finish their tasks with the quality of senior engineers this also would help the team overall, do you agree?

@@fleitnerfischer Quality wise yes I agree. Usually associate engineers struggle with edge cases & most importantly communication in terms of clarifying and basically just asking 'why' before jumping into 'how' and 'done'.

On a side note, thank you for sharing your views. There is a huge gap of senior/lead/mgmt videos and such videos help a lot in thinking about it, engaging in discussion and improving upon it.

Prof. Florian, thanks for your videos. I am a mechatronics engineering student currently in first year and I have great interest in embedded software. Can I work as an embedded software engineer with a mechatronics qualification? vielen Dank.

That’s hard to tell without knowing details about your study program, but if you get the chance the take a specialization in software / computer science lectures in your degree I would say yes.
