  • One of the highlights of your visit to this desert oasis is the short walk to the cabin made from railroad ties. It is reportedly the only original structure remaining from the first functioning ranch that is now under the management of the Fish and Wildlife Service. Located 20 miles from the center of Las Vegas, Nevada the visitor center can be easily reached via Highway 95 North. The center offers a history of the area and covers the main aims of the refuge: preserving the habitat of the desert bighorn sheep. For those more adventurous, there are several hiking trails and backcountry areas to explore.
