I had an uncle who passed away at a hospital in Evansville just a few hours before the tornado hit. Wayne is a friend of mine and a good man. His storm track announcing over the years helped me when I did severe storm coverage in radio. I cut my teeth into his style, and had listeners compliment me, so I give him a lot of credit. I interviewed him a year ago and asked him if that tornado was ever spotted on that tower cam toward the river. He told me they went back and replayed it frame by frame and it wasn't observed. Thought that was interesting. I've played this several times. Still think of those affected.
Considering all that has happened in the 15 years since that fateful night,Wayne Hart should have gotten a medal for staying calm in the wake of the storms that hit Evansville and Newburgh...I am proud to be one of his weather people...well done,Wayne...well done
I remember this event, almost ten years ago, me and my family lived close to USI college, we first thought the tornado was going to hit us, so we hit for the basement, but as it moved away from us, I knew we were going to be okay, but for others that was still in it's path, I was not over yet. For anybody that reads this, please remember the victims that died by the F3 Tornado that struck the sw and se Vanderburgh County on Nov 6, 2005.
I remember that night quite vividly considering I had an argument with my dad about wanting to go to the bowling alley in Boonville which looking back the day later I'm glad we didn't! What's crazy is that we lived about 5 miles from Boonville and not a single breeze outside, whenever the tornado was tearing through Boonville my brother and I was outside jumping on the trampling
I was playing pool at Arc Lanes in Evansville with a buddy from high school when this happened. He lived in Evansville and I lived in Newburgh and it was about a cornfield’s distance away from my house.
Some friends and I went to the Garden of the Gods in Illinois that day because it was so nice outside. Standing on a cliff edge looking at the sunset with not a cloud in the sky. Went home grilled out and went to sleep. Friends mom called at 2 am to wake us up. We lived right next to Camp Brosend in Newburgh. It hit a block over from us. Liz Willem thank you for calling
Same here. We got direct hit by it and it levelled our neighborhood. I was 21 at the time. I've never seen the newscast until now and it gives me chills...
I'll never forget the sound of this tornado and will always remember this night like it was the last. They say tornados sound like trains but this one sounded comparable to the ones from the movie twister...literally had a growl to it mixed with a jet and an underwater bubbly noise...scariest moment of my life
am i the only one that thinks that a doppler radar should have a second dish inside like a dual sided ax? because you see how long it takes that scan bar to scan one rotation if there was a dual sided doppler that scan time would be half the time and data would become faster and so would warnings as well........why only a single dish jw
WILD GAMING a year or so later we started using the "dual doppler" at the time seem liked we had plenty of time to get in the safe spot. I was in the center of the house as soon as the storm track popped up. I'll never forget this night. This thing was about 3/4 a mile away from my house and it didn't sound like a train like people say, sounded more like a mixture of the the twin tornados under water and the F5 from the movie twister. Crazy to compare to the sound of a movie tornado but they nailed it on the head. I was out riding my motorcycle on the back roads with my shirt off that night so warm for a November night. Never thought the next day I'd get news of a friend getting killed from it.
This coverage really gave Wayne Hart the respect of the entire area
He was our weatherman and Louisville years ago, you all were indeed lucky to have him.

I absolutely agree. This fine Gentleman is the best of the best. So well spoken, and very, very professional!! All Respect to this man!!

"Get as many people between you and the tornado".

Was the part of Newburgh where Lincoln Avenue was under the tornado warning?

You were jumping on the trampoline at 2 in the morning? You were going to go bowling at 2 in the morning?

Why can't you show LIVE Doppler velocity from the station owned 250,000 watt EEC radar? It would have been alot faster updating than pre SAILS nexrad

How the time flies! Remember that day! Makes you feel old when you can remember a certain day in history, where has the time gone!

9:17 Giant Lightning
19:40 the yellow was probably a debris ball
