Can’t thank you enough. I have a Motif XS8 as well and I have had keys replaced lots of times paying the tech fees. This time I followed your directions and got it done for $12 for just the key. You’re the man! If you are ever in Los Angeles hit me up. I owe you drinks!!!
Thank you so much... My Yamaha cp50 is now back to life. Had it for years and 2 of the keys were slow reponse on the action. Now its like it just left Samash Music store where I bought it. THANK YOU
I have to replace my volume control slider as its cuts-out it the low volume position unless I wiggle it left to right. I needed to see what screws to remove to open the unit. Thanks for taking the time to shoot and post this, now I know how to replace a key if I ever need to also! I was impressed Yamaha had the hinges for the front panel on the inside for convenient servicing, thats Yamaha quality for you :-) But man! thats a lot of screws!!
I had to remove a key from a Clavinova witch was broken at the turning-end (good that all Yamaha keyboards seem to have the same mechanical key-system) . Thanks to your video I figured out how to remove it - thanx a lot! I restore pianos and grands, but you have to try sometimes something different ;)
Thank you!! My sticky key wasn't because of a broken key, but because cat hair (!!!) had gotten between the metal weight and the keyboard's rear frame piece. Once completely cleared (and my bottom A, too!), the action returned to normal. I think the key thing (PUNNY!) to notice is whether or not your key is off-center.
Hello. I have MOXF6 Yamaha keyboard. Are the keys placed the same way as Motif in your video? and for replacing the bad key do I need to use the same procedures ?
are motif es8/xs8/xf8 keys wearability only involves by user replaceable broken keys? is there other key wearability that might occur? a wearability that can only be treated by the store? aren't each key is also padded by some material? if yes, can these pads wear out? can they also be replaced by user? i'm concerned about the reliability of the models i mentioned cause i want to buy one and i really beat out my keyboard a lot! i'm a fraid of frequent travel to the store and i don't have a car.
hello sir, my Eb3, Db3 and Eb2 keys feel loose and srcatchy and make an annoying squeaky sound. They are not popped up as a broken key would or stay down as a broken key would and the working. From your experience knowing the makeup of this board, what could be the problem? I bought it brand new for over a year ago, its a board i use daily in the studio and have not traveled on the road with it. Looking forward to a response from you..
Hey, thanks a lot for sharing this video, I got a Motif XS, but my problem is that one key just dont work, it is not broken, my guess I need to open it up and clean up the contact point? any advice on this? Thanks!
the keyboard that i have is an xs8 the person in nashvile said it would cost me $350 to replace the keys and check the key return flat spring on every key that needed to be replaced it has ten keys that need replacing and i started looking on here to see if there was any videos on how to fix this issue and it seems pretty simple it will just take some time out of my day to get the keys replaced myself instead of paying someone to fix it i just saved myself $350
in stead of moving keys forward that bottom plate will come off easy also. it only has bout 5 tiny screws holding it and that way you don't have to take the big screws out and move keys forward and risk messin up a wire.
you wouldnt know if you have a bad key sensor it would basically knock out all power to yer keyboard?? i bought a used one online (stupid...)_ soon as i got it didnt last 3 minutes it would either reboot or black out and you bump towards the key area it would reboot. if you played very easy it wouldnt krap out. finally it just went and now wont power up. i removed the silicone switches/blew out all the garbage. cant find any crax in the circuit panels under the keys.wonder if its the sensor?
Thats cool that you showed me how to do a motif keyboard . . . but that was the white keys. What about the BLACK KEYS. ???? anything different on how to pull out ?

Thanks for taking the time to do this. You saved me some cash.
Great tutorial, I have about 3 keys to replace.
do you still need to remove the back screws to push the entire keyboard back if you are only replacing a BLACK key (Bb)..??

Thanks a lot, my yamaha s08 is now fully functional again!

Hola amigo te pregunto el korg triton studio88 son las mismas teclas del yamaha motif xs8
are es8/xf8 work the same as with your xs8 in terms of key replacement? does these website ship internationally? i'm from Israel.
Great video. Easy to understand. Thank you!
If I wanted to make the keys harder to depress (increase touchweight) on a yamaha dramatically, would that be possible?

Great video...thanx... I have a slightly sticky key... now I know I can fix it.

I need the plate containing the integrated keys, usually comes under the keys to the right end of the piano, where I can get it
Well done, thanks a lot!
