Good luck to both James and Paul in their quest for Tour cards. Ryder Cup is another boys club event, but it’s been that way forever as it is in other sports when you have the chance to pick who’s in or out. Enjoyed the show, always good to see the two of you on camera together. Cheers.
Enjoying this so far boys. I totally agree Meronk over Rose was the right choice. So excited to watch Aberg, what a player. I just hope the pressure doesn't suffocate him.
I think Meronk should have made it but I also think that Rose will bring the old head experience with him and the absence of Garcia, Westwood and Poulter it would be too much to lose them all in one go. I think it’d be interesting to look at how the chosen players caddies RC appearances stack up in comparison. The experience they bring can be game changing too and could be an aspect he’s thought of when making his picks. Good to hear about Paul. Hopefully he and James will do it this year.
The show is shaping up well and I would really like to see that match between the European and USA captains and vice captains. Best wishes to both Paul and James; wouldn't it be exciting to see them gain their tour cards?
Good job again. Get Lester to put his hands in his pockets he doesn't know what to do with them😅 Meronk in for Lowry Glover in for Thomas in my opinion. Best wishes to James and Paul in their quest for Tour cards.🤞
As the Ryder Cup is match play and automatic qualifying is based on singles tournaments, it only makes sense that there be more picks. It also gives more importance to the role of the Captain. The Captain of a Ryder Cup team is a distinguished golfer and not just some random veteran so his personality and strategy should be allowed some space to surface.
Tony Jacklin captained 4 times, 1983-1989. I'm sure Bernard Gallagher did 2 back to back as well. It does seem to now be a one off now for some reason.
Biggest omission for Captaincy was Mr Alexander Lyle. Agree with longer term for captains. Go back to 10 qualify by right, 2 Captains picks, that takes away the “Old Boys Club” feeling.
I would not say it's an old boys club. But there are many historically great players who never get the opportunity due to the fact it is one captain every two years. Remember Lester, coaches pick every player in a football team.
Info for Paul - I have just spent the last 2 weeks down in Moliets, life long family holiday spot, you guys should 100% take a trip down there and play Moliets, Seignosse, Hossegor and Chiberta. World Class courses! However as much as it pains me to say, Moliets course is in dreadful condition and there's no way it will get upto tour standard in the next couple of weeks. Greens have just been sanded etc and they are so slow and bobbly. Fairways are patchy like a dalmation dog with weeds and missing grass. So expect lots of plugging, very little run, dodgy lies from all over the course, very slow and bobbly greens. I don't think the Tour organisers will be very happy with the condition of the place. But best of luck to Paul and I hope he sees this and bears it in mind when preparing!
I am still surprised that players like Meronk, who has already won on the course, and Yannik Paul, who is playing a very good season and only just missed out in the rankings, were not nominated. Even though the young Swede surely has a great future and Hojgaard played a great Hero Cup, I don't understand the nomination. In Hojgaard's case, I assume that Bjorn put the Ryder Cup captain in a headlock to get his compatriot into the team.
For me on the European side, 6 picks is right. Given how a lot of the players (better players) play on the PGA Tour its right that there is the opportunity to pick better players who don't play on the DP World Tour that much. This is about the best European players forging a team that is going to win the Ryder Cup. The more flexibility the captain has on selection is a good thing in my book. Too many times in the past a top player, focused on the PGA Tour has missed out.
I don't agree with you boys about Justin Rose. He's played consistently well this year and he will be superb for the new boys. Great news about Paul & James. I went to Carden Park the other week when they played in the PGA Fourball and got roped into being the score recorder. I got a close up view of how good they both are.
The top 10 players on the world points list are in the team plus 2 genuine wildcard picks which have surely been made with an eye on the future - I don’t get what all the fuss is about…
Considering the course being played and the need for accurate drives, Bradley and Glover would have been better choices over Thomas and Spieth. May be in the minority on Jordan, but he hasn't played or putted that well of late. Part of his value was as a partner for Thomas, and vice versa.
Bernie,as much as I love him,can shoot him self in the foot sometimes 😂,speaking of feet, what’s going on with dans shoes.Have you just finished cutting the grass mate 😂
I don't disagree with much of your comments fellas. I did think when it was announced that Rosey and Shane were a bit lucky. Great players no doubt but not great form right now. Obviously Lowry had a good finish at the K Club. I think Meronk is rightfully upset to miss out.
I think meronk got the short end of the stick he should have been picked and I would have like to seen min woo Lee another younger player with a lot of fire and going to be one heck of a player
Meronk should be in full stop. Bit harsh on Lowry, all you arguments for Thomas apply to Lowry, he is a great personality to have in the team and always digs deep. I question Straka, does not play in Europe at all. All subjective and I hope that Donald proves us all wrong, I do think that he believes that he has the right team 🤞🏻
Why does the European Team play under the flag of the EU (which following Brexit, has no relevance for some of the players in the team)? Surely if the qualification criteria is to be playing the European (DP World Tour) then the flag etc should be a representation of the Tour?
If there’s controversy over picks, why have so many, just make it the top 12 from whatever tours qualify, top 6 from pga and top 6 from do world etc and no arguments, everyone there on merit.
Hojgaard has nicked Meronk’s space for some reason… and that’s plainly unfair. Rose is questionable despite a very decent season in the US, but I can understand the need to blend experience with youth so justifiable. Lowry has had a very iffy year by his standards so is a strange pick for some. That said, he won’t be phased by any of the US players and has plenty of heart for RC. Straka has won in the US this year, is playing well and would be dead handy if there’s a fight in the car park after the matches 👌
Don’t think there should be any picks you should have the leading players on the list that play on the Ryder cup, then you manage those players . Only changes allowed would be injuries or exceptional circumstances otherwise all these picks are meaningless when other guys have done well over the year and made the top of the list
Slightly contradictory to say Thomas is a good pick for America but Rose is a poor choice for Europe. Also a little odd for people to complain about captains picks when they pick someone further down the rankings than someone else. If that's a problem then do away with captains picks altogether and just have the highest ranked 12 players on the team. A lot of considerations will go into selecting a team but Luke Donald isn't going to pick his mate if it weakens the team and reduces the chances of winning.
Sepp Straka hasn’t played any DPWT events in last 2 years apart from majors and the WGC. How he has been picked over players who have supported DPWT events… Even Arberg came over and played 2 regular events and won one…. If he was serious and keen he could have played 2-3 events in Europe as Lowry, Rose and even Mcilroy have
Justin Thomas hasn't been playing well enough to be selected. I would have picked Meronk and another over both Lowry and Rose. I think Rose has had his day and Lowry is vastly over weight and I don't think he's fit enough for 3 days of intense golf. I also think that more European based players should be selected who actually know the course that the Ryder cup is being played on. Meronk being the ideal man for the job. I also think that McIlroy has far to much of a say in things these days.
JT had a poor year by his standards for sure, but saying he didn’t make a cut all year is a little off the mark to say the least? As to Bryson… he’s 123rd on OWGR, but then LIV players aren’t awarded points apart from when playing in the majors. He had a few decent results in the majors this year including 4th at the PGA. He also won a LIV event and shot 58 whilst doing it. I’m not a fan of his by any means but he’s still a high level player regardless.
You've got to be more controversial....no fence riding, there are so many obvious issues with both teams, there is no way everyone tin he US team deserves to be there is a big starter.
Fingers crossed for Paul and James looking forward. I'm with Bernie on captain longevity.
Great show, fellas. Best of luck for Paul and James going forward, they both have the talent to get through.
Great chat , easy listening , you 2 make me smile , interesting opinions on Ryder Cup picks , great news on James and Paul .

Good show, and subject matter. Very slick.
Talk us through the funky backdrop! 👍🏻
Great show guys. Love the format.
Audio sorted well done Jordan!
Maybe they could have picked Guido Migliozzi who would have made the crowds in Rome go nuclear ! Very interesting chat guys 🎉
Like that
Good effort James, good luck in the remaining rounds
Justin Thomas ranked 120-140s in most stats. Bloody lucky to get a pick after missing 5 of last 10 cuts
Really hope James and Paul do well!! I’m sure you will but keep us posted please.
The show is shaping up well and I would really like to see that match between the European and USA captains and vice captains. Best wishes to both Paul and James; wouldn't it be exciting to see them gain their tour cards?
Top 12 players on each side in the points standings deserves to be on the teams period.
I've only just had a notification for this 🤷♂️
Love the new background. Who did it?
Good job again. Get Lester to put his hands in his pockets he doesn't know what to do with them😅
Meronk in for Lowry
Glover in for Thomas in my opinion.
Best wishes to James and Paul in their quest for Tour cards.🤞
BTW why don't we have a Captains match ? It would be quality😂😂😂

Liking this format, Sunday show but with 100% less ramblings…….. 100% is golf RUclipsrs favourite and most used phrase 😂

Rose is a must pick, we need a balance in the team experience /rookies, but Lowry, no chance!!

Do you think you you film Pauls Q schoo or James next qualifier.? Doesn't need to be every shot with magnificent production...
It would be great but unfortunately the expense of travelling to film them far outweighs the income from the views
Your views on non televised tournements pick up good viewing numbers, sack off some other stuff to free up the budget, please...
Surprised you picked Rory 😂

Bobby Mac was lucky to qualify, played almost every event to get his points ahead of Yannick Paul & Meronk
It would be Meronk for me, over Rose.

Justin Thomas is the US version of Ian Poulter.
Aberg is actually Åberg😁 Think Meronk deserved a spot! Lowry wouldn't have been picked without friendship to McIlroy in my opinion.

Whats happened to the "Sunday morning" show on the Hendriksen channel ? None for 2 weeks now.
On break Jon 👍

He is getting back into golf I think but not spoken to him for a while

2-Balls between them?

Look at Watson 59 years old and should have won the open
Justin Rose nice lad, but should no where near the Ryder cup team

I know Shane Lowery is a prime player but as far as playing this year not too good
I think Lester needs a microphone. If may stop him fidgeting with his hair and face like a 15 year old school girl.
Cheers keep up the good work.

J tThomas has not a cut all season. As for Bryson 120 in the world he would never get into that team on his golf.
