Thank you, Brandon, you answered all of my questions enough along with the video to justify my waiting for the full frame version to go on sale, unless of course, they were practically giving the APSC versions away. The flare may be fine for an establishing shot, but it is bothersome for anything else. Thank you for the video and the explanation. I always enjoy your work.
So glad you just showed footage. Really tired of everyone just regurgitating the bullet points. We know the bullet points already, that’s why we came here. We just wanna see it put to use! Lol You def did this lens justice. Now it’s just this & the Aivascope on my radar!
This is beyond what I expected out of a run and gun test footage video. I loved your approach to the subjects. This is better than anything I've seen from this lens/camera combo. Keep it up! I would love to see your narrative work with this setup.
I got the Sirui 35mm for my next short film that I'll post on my channel. It'll be with the BMPCC4K instead, but I'm too excited for the results! Sirui feels like Hollywood on a budget.
You have made this lens sing! Lovely work!! I have had mine for months and only just started using it because I was a bit daunted by the workflow. I’m using it more and more though because the results are beautiful and clients notice…
You worked this lens hard. Best of the videos I’ve seen yet. I preordered this lens to compare against my Vazen 50mm T2.1with 1.8 squeeze factor. I have to admit to being a bit disappointed with most of the footage I have seen up until now. Good work! Keep it up brother!
Thank you for posting. Yeah I agree on the flares and their color. The original lenses had too much blue. This one is less annoying with a more subtle green color. But still way too prominent. And I wish the flares were white or yellow/warm-ish. Because if you’re not filming something with some neo/tech/sci-fi vibes, but rather something more traditional and narrative or even commercial, then you can’t have blue or green flares in your shots. The rest of it looks really nice, love the kinds of videos you’re making lately, really stepping up that already amazing game!
I actually love the flare at 0:21 that this lens gives, it gives the audience an out of this world feeling. But if that is not what you are going for then I understand it's not for everyone.
Thank you for posting the video and writing down your thoughts an impressions for us. Seems like the edges of how big a "small" anamorphic lens can be and still work on current generation gimbals is being defined. MFT for the win!
By the way, you're test footage of this lens is epic. Makes me want to go out and buy this just based on this video. This company should be paying you.
I like when you present the lens characteristics in beautiful and inspiring images without the overwhelming bla bla around its technical details .. its useful piece to be used as reference. bien joué !
From all the footage I've seen from this lens, they've all been on the warmer side, sometimes with a tinge of green cast in the image, and some of the flares are green. I personally think green flares are unnatural and brings a bit of uneasiness to it. Blue and Amber flares seem the most natural to me.
Nice video mate, makes me tempted to buy one. I too live in HK (Sai Kung) and often go out filming in Mong Kok with a friend. I’m sure I’ll bump into you one day when you’re out filming too!😆
Did you crop the image? If you Film with a 16:9 sensor the image should be more narrow which looks even more cinematic in my opinion. By the way this lense works perfectly with Zhiyun weebill 2 and the Focus Motor. Review and cinematic footage from Switzerland will follow 😁
Did you have to turn off in camera IBIS completely? I'm noticing on my footage that I can see the IBIS (the mirror titling and trying to adjust) which is making some of my footage look warpy.
Could you shoot some tests with added diffusion filtration? I think it's quite good that this lens finally isn't what alle the makeshift anamorphics are: Barely usable. But still a tad to crisp for my liking. Would you have some sort of diffusion-filtration around, doesn't matter if it is Tiffen/Schneider/PrismLensFX - just to show what it looks like with a little detuning?
Brandon, you are a great shooter, no doubt. In terms of the lens, positives: a workable focal length, good price. Weakness: seems soft, color shift to green, flares are not my cup of tea. I will probably pick one up though, considering the cost and my soft spot for anamorphic.
luckly weaknesses in anamorphic can be seen as character for the right job! :) I hope the other future lenses match, even with the "weaknesses". I too am going to get one lol.
Hello Brandon. Beautiful video full of feeling and emotion. inspiring so much. And I really really like the music especially the first piece. I try to find the piece at Upbeat but without any luck. do you think you could and tell me the name of the piece. thanks so much. Best Mr Soren
I read what gear was used, but I got to ask, how difficult was it to frame things without a monitor? I'd like to use this combo minus the gimbal for a compact-travel-run-and-gun setup.
Hey Brandon, when you say that you're cropping your footage in post, do you mean that you're scaling up-- assuming you're conforming the pixels to 1.33 aspect ratio via interpreting the footage in your project? Appreciate any tips you have with this! I've got the exact same set up as you. Thanks :)
Great colors and look! Affordable full frame anamorphic is a new era -- maybe fake anamorphic is what's next for the iPhone... Do you think you'll use this with clients?
2:02-2:08 Now this was a great example cause I been looking at lens like these and light flaring, cause this was amazing to watch but something like that would throw me off cause its right on the subject. But this was still amazing
Cant wait to see the updated version as the flare is way out there but the overall look of the image is fantastic. I hope they release a bundle for the set once they are all released. Looks soooo good
Another stunning lens test. Thanks for the demo, Brandon! At T2.9, what ISO did you shoot the night interiors on? Impressed that there’s no noise, are you using de-noiser for these shots too?
Hi, Brandon! I like your work quite a lot. Thanks for putting it out there. I was wondering how you went about de-squeezing the image on this one. A 1.6X anamorphic lens on a 16x9 sensor camera should result in a 2.8:1 aspect ratio. Did you crop it or did you resize it to fit a 2.39:1 frame? I did some tests on my setup, which is the same as yours here, and I sort of like the slightly squeezed frame. Curious about your solution. Oh, and one last thing: did you use any diffusion on this? Thanks again!
I wrote a lot of thoughts about the lens in the video description. And technical details of my shooting and editing gear. Check it out!
Am I the only one that read this as if Brandon was talking out loud?🤣🤣🤣

Came here to see how a lens worked. Left inspired. Absolutely gorgeous work.
Best one I’ve seen yet, beautifully done. Hats off to you man, seriously!
You have made this lens sing! Lovely work!! I have had mine for months and only just started using it because I was a bit daunted by the workflow. I’m using it more and more though because the results are beautiful and clients notice…
Incredible footage, man. Really love the taste of this lens.
Magnificent video. I wanted to ask you if you can recommend an anamorphic lens for the Blackmagic 4K cinema camera. Thank you.
Great video, always trying to check if you have posted a video when video lenses are coming for the Sony E-Mount systems.

Your work is just so pleasant to watch. I wish more of this calm and interesting viewing was presented in cinema these days. I love it.
These shots are absolutely gorgeous! They look almost futuristic in a way! 💯✔️🔥

Agreed.
Hello, I just wanted to tell that I bought severals courses, especially french filmmakers courses, and yours is the best I bought.
I actually love the flare at 0:21 that this lens gives, it gives the audience an out of this world feeling. But if that is not what you are going for then I understand it's not for everyone.
yeah. that's really nice. But once it gets dark and we have the multiple light sources, say at 2:00, it gets really distracting.
@@makanimike Yes, for sure it can be overdone.
Wow 🤩 love how you interact with people. Not only pro but legend!

Crazy!! My home is here!!! Great clip here!!!they finally have RF mount now....really want to try that!!
By the way, you're test footage of this lens is epic. Makes me want to go out and buy this just based on this video. This company should be paying you.

Amber flares all the way for me. Green is a novelty flare.
Amber Flares are the best for me. Blue Flares remind me of Transformers and Music videos now lol. Green Reminds me of the iPhone haha.
Beyond rad, thanks for making!
Nice video mate, makes me tempted to buy one. I too live in HK (Sai Kung) and often go out filming in Mong Kok with a friend. I’m sure I’ll bump into you one day when you’re out filming too!😆
Wow when u shot it with city background, the flares make it look like it's a futuristic city
this is insanely beautiful.
Gorgeous shots. Why arent the bokeh balls as oval as other 1,6x times squeezed anamorphs? Is it only because it doesn't open up more than f2,8?
It’s a wider lens, and only f2.8. So you won’t see extreme bokeh unless you’re near minimum focus.
It's T2.8 which is different than f stops, so it's actually around 2.4 f stop.
@@bluenightsky more like F2.7
I agree. This looks less squeeze than even their 1.33x line. Nothing close to aivascaope which is 1.5x.
omg this is cinematic af.. bro amazing work and gear
These shots are so good! Wow
Awesome Color grading! Looks so cinematic!
Did you crop the image? If you Film with a 16:9 sensor the image should be more narrow which looks even more cinematic in my opinion. By the way this lense works perfectly with Zhiyun weebill 2 and the Focus Motor. Review and cinematic footage from Switzerland will follow 😁
I loved the flare for these subjects, but I agree it would get overpowering, thanks.
Man, the footage you shoot of Hong Kong. Spent 4 years there, and this footage makes me miss every bit of it.
wow... is just amazing shots, Brandon. The lens is amazing as well.
Did you have to turn off in camera IBIS completely? I'm noticing on my footage that I can see the IBIS (the mirror titling and trying to adjust) which is making some of my footage look warpy.
What a nice lens it is! Furthermore, very nice camera work you did!
Damn your film makes me cry.. a scene to perfection. Makes me wanna make more. Very inspired today

the greens are graded. If you see different youtubers, they have a pure blue streaks
I really like the softness, flares not so much though but that's the anamorphic staple. Maybe a smidge sharper on the focus point
Geez. Amazing grade bro!
Just great man! So powerful, well done. As always.
Beautiful!!
Awesome stuff. Thanks
Amazing job mr. Brandon.
Beautiful Bandon!
Epic video! Which ND filter you use on Sirui 50 mm? Thanx for answer in advance🙏
The lens flares look epic at times, but at night scenes (2:06) they look super distracting.
Great Video! Thank You For The Information On Your Training.
I am so amazed about the quality
Wonderful. Mine is on the way
AMAZING!
The Lens that ive been waiting for so long, I hope we'll get the 24mm or 35mm also
You are too talented!!!
Amazing work - well done!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Footage looks really good. A7sIII is an awesome camera. 👌
Great job 📽 Look in the night is amazing 🔥
Wow, ur work is Gorgeous
Anyone know what name of music song from 0:07 and onwards? Love the music vibes here. Great work as usual!
Awesome. Like a movie!
Love your content!
llve for those kinds of shots. ty
Finally 50mm anamorphic lens on E mount 😁
Excelent like ever
Christ, this looks amazing!
The flares on this lens look more like a streak filter, and are way too aggressive in color and texture. Great shots tho!
it's gonna be reduced on the final product. A lot people have told Sirui that the lens got flared too easily.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one that thinks this! I really hope they dial it down a lot because then I would be totally sold on these.
This is inspiring to watch! Where did you get the music from?
Beautiful work. Was this shot 8bit or 10bit 4:2:2? The colours are lovely
It is so great video to me! I have a question about this video ratio and resolution? How did you setting this video? Can you teach me? :) please~
what's your desqueeze method? I like the more cropped aspect ratio here
Great production :)
Damn, that colors at the beginning. You could show how to achieve it in Davinci, please... Many thanks.
Very cinematic look! Love it.
Stunnnnnning ✨✨✨✨

Another stunning lens test. Thanks for the demo, Brandon! At T2.9, what ISO did you shoot the night interiors on? Impressed that there’s no noise, are you using de-noiser for these shots too?
Thanks, I used a mix of iso from 640 to 12800 with denoising in the low base iso shots.
@@BrandonLiUnscripted Curious what your go-to de-noiser is, Resolve or Neat Video?
That’s crispy!
What resolution did you set for rendering? I want to update a video taken with the Shirui lens, but the video keeps getting cropped when I update it.
what is the equivalent FOV for 50mm anamorphic on a ff or s35? since the desqueeze is so wide, 50mm would end up being a "wide lens" right?
congratulations, fantastic colors!
in addition to color grading, did you use a lut?
Thanks, no grading or lut. Just basic cc and color space transform
@@BrandonLiUnscriptedtrust me, it doesn't seem basic at all!
@@BrandonLiUnscripted looks pretty amazing! slog3 to rec709 in resolve?
Awsomme work bro... Inspiring
I could be totally wrong, but it doesn't look like it's fully desqueezing, esp in those earlier shots.
The squeeze isn’t constant depending on focus so I was kind of guessing
