- The newest mountain bike trail that is currently open is called West Gate. Brown County state park is also working on another downhill trail called Gnawbone.
Brown county has some of the best mountain bike trails in Indiana and maybe all of the midwest.
If you haven't ever been to BCSP, then you are missing out!

Just rode here for the first time the week of the 4th of July 2024 & holey crap what an AWESOME park. The trails are absolutely fantastic. Even the green & blue trails. Hobbs Hallow is an absolute blast...will DEF be back
I do love hitting that trail and sending off to weedpatch. What a fun ride. I’ll park at the tower and pedal up to west gate.
Either I’ll ride Hobbs and go all around to green valley to Aynes. Then the bobcat connector back to weed patch then to my truck. Such a fun park.
I’ve always camped when I go there to ride, so I always start at Limekiln.
@@MichianaMadman I’m here right now on a travel assignment until February. So cool. Luckily I love mountain biking because there isn’t much else to do around here. That being said. I love brown county state park.
@@MichianaMadman I rode weed patch today as well starting from west gate.
That sure beats riding the road!
You aren’t wrong about that!
You should totally come down this weekend (October 7,8&9 2022) for the EPIC! I think there are still slots available. My kids and I will be volunteering Saturday and will be getting some laps in when we can on Friday evening and Sunday. The camping should be pretty amazing with a food truck, live music and a beer tent (i thought I heard that mentioned last trail maintenance day). Brown County Bikes has kids demos out on Sunday and some skills areas set-up. I wish I had time to get to one of the downhill skills sessions they are coaching on Friday but the women’s ride on Friday is starting near Pine Loop and should be a blast!
I really wanted to go this weekend but unfortunately I am stuck working!
Have some fun for me though!
I’m planning on coming down soon and trying to catch the tree leaves changing and hitting Gnawbone.
@@MichianaMadman sorry to hear! I look forward to a video on Gnawbone though when you do make it out again!
Another quality trail added to the list!
I’m looking forward to the new one opening up.
"It did indeed split off" lol
I kinda rode Hesitation Point for a minute.
I wish all these new trails weren't all machine-built.
I don’t necessarily disagree but then you ride Bobcat or Walnut and then the perspective changes a bit.
Looks like a fun trail. How’s the new bike riding? Thanks for another quality video.
I’m loving the new bike! Thanks for watching.
Why don’t they make it one way that sounds so lame.
Can't believe its a two way!!! The worst. Sorry to dis. But......
It is still a lot of fun!
It’s two way because it connects several trails allowing riders to create their own routes between loops. Gnawbone will be one way like Hobbs and Limekiln. A few of the loops could be one direction but the connectors like this one, bobcat connector, north gate connector and even weedpatch (much easier to tell who is going up on that one 😂) and Walnut are very helpful as two directional because of how it allows riders to connect trails and create some pretty epic riding days. Overall I think the trails best suited for opening up are set-up for one way leaving a lot of option to also go out and create the ride people want. I have thought about it and talked to other riders/volunteers when doing trail work and while one way trails have their appeal the fun element of being able to create the ride you want would be a huge loss here. It is definitely a hard balance. Glad to see a video on that short connector trail it is pretty epic, and the views 😍
Love this reply!
BCSP is my favorite place to ride and it always feels new because of being able to mix up the trail order, like you said.
