Dime was a master with riffs, no argument about it. He was perfect with his playing and writing, never missed a note. Same with his solos My favorite album was The Great Southern Trendkill
I love it, you completely captured the pantera vibe that makes their songs so insanely intense. This is a job job awesomely done dude. This album holds a special place in my heart as it was one of the album that got me into the harscher metal genres and cowboy from hell is still one of my favourite songs ever
Least acclaimed, but Great Southern Trendkill is my fav. Looks like you had a dimebucker and a 59 in the neck. Sounds killer on a Schecter. Keep slaying those tasty licks
I hated it when it came out. Then after just some 10 years or so later I listened to it again and thought "why did I hate this?" A great album, no doubt about that. But not as good as Vulgar.
@@anttikettunen8601 I'm surprised it was even made. It was during Phil's battle with heroin addiction when it was recorded. Phil did all the vocals in a separate studio than the rest of the band.
War Nerve/ Sandblasted Skin is one of the most epic things they ever recorded. Living through me is the shit! I love Reinventing the Steel too though. Its tough cause unlike Metallica and Megadeth, Pantera never made a bad album.
Vulgar Display of Power for me, my boy. But Cowboys is my second favorite. Also, I take great pride in being from the state as Dime and Pantera. Texas for the win!
Nice dude! I struggle with choosing favourites for anything, but I think my personal favourite riff on that album is the breakdown on Message in Blood. Brutal and groovy at the same time!
+10 points for upstroking the cfh riff +10 points for playing PCS in drop d tuning +10 points so they can lick my sac +10000000 points for playing the pinch harmonics section of Cemetery Gates correctly when not even Petrucci can fucking do it right +10 points for nailing every riff in this video -10 points because you forgot The Sleep, and it's underrated and deserves some love and attention
I am 100% with you on this one.Cowboys was the album that changed my life as a metalhead, I decided to start playing guitar after lisyening to Dimebag.BTW, congrats on your riffs, you nailed them!!!!
Thank you!! Yes tone is a big part but for bands with only one guitar there's usually alot of little nuances you have to nail to make it come across. And ya he killed it.
Solid chops, man! 2,700 views, 375 likes, and 0 dislikes. Everyone showing respect to Uncle Darrell. Proud Dallas, Texan to see the love for him all around the world. Getchapull brother! 🤘🤠
Damn dude!!! The shred has exactly the tone and timing of the album. I had found this tape in a Goodwill at 20 yrs old (35 yrs I am now) and HAD been jamming it off and on since. Now I jam the CD in my truck to work---and you nail the tone and timing! Awesome album----terrible loss, but, AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENTS!
The Great Southern Trendkill Maybe it's coz of the year I was born in but that low C range tone really does fit Dimes play style. Also the riffs especially on that album are just orgasmic.
Oh fuck did i just find my chane!? Dude u got a sub now for not only 1 vid but 2 about pantera and dime 👏 👏👏👏thank you and looking forward to more vids.
I agree my brotha , I remember seeing pycho Holliday for the first time that had came out on head bangers ball , back in 1990, when I use to vcr record every 3 hours of the show so I could watch them all week till the next show , and man they totally blew my fucking head of , I had at the time never seen a more energetic explosive band and dime at, who was called diamond darrell back then completely opened my eyes wide open man!!! I had just started playing the guitar and taking lessons from my brother for life and teacher Jr west who was a senior at my highschool and brought his charvel reverse neck super strat blood red ebony board guitar to school everyday and would practice at break times between classes and at lunch , and had all the chicks vibbin on him hard bro!!! I was blown away and instantly became friends and when I found out he only stayed like 3 miles from my house on the same highway it was a no brainer that we had to do this man!!! Me and him both were completely booked on dime man, before meeting him and seeing Pantera I was drawn in by the hair bands of the 80s like poison and , la guns and skid row, and when I seen dime it changed me and opened me up to the heaviness and I instantly became a searcher for the really metal , harder and heavier, slayer, Metallica, Megadeth,. Anthrax , then it was my favorite band of all time, MORBID ANGEL, and obituary, and death, and then it was deicide and cannibal corpse and so on and so on man!!!! And I agree without cowboys man I wouldn't have become the player I am today !!!! R. I. P. DIME AND VINNE!!!!
Awesome job dude i like the dime pack for amplitube plug in also you got a great tone as well ...the albums.... cbfh is an all time favorite metal album i always thought vulgar display of power was my favorite far beyond is killer too the first 3 albums are my favs
This was awesome! Couldn’t stop head banging throughout the whole video. Dimebag Darrel and Pantera are killer! My favorite song from Cowboys is Domination. My favorite album is Vulgar Display Of Power. Love the vids and keep up the good work Jamie!
Message in Blood is probably my favorite for riffage on the album, Psycho Holiday would be next, then Clash with Reality. Three absolute master classes in metal riffing.
I would say: Trendkill and Vulgar - Far Beyond Driven - CFH - Reinventing The Steel (I don't know the pre-CFH albums). Anyway, a CFH riffs compilation without "The art of shredding"? NO WAY, PUNK
I don't know if anybody else has commented but i notice that you have the Dimebag humbuckers on your schecter c1....that's sweet i have that same setup on an epiphone goth sg
I honestly like all of the albums. But, I'd say my favorite is the great southern trendkill. Because, drag the waters, 10s, suicide note part 1, 13 steps to nowhere, and last but certainly not least, floods. Which probably is the best solo on the entire album
Great vid Jamie and such an incredible tone man damn! Should have done an all killer no filler video for Pantera albums lol can't name a fave album but it's a 3 way tie between Cowboys Vulgar and Trendkill. I love all their music even back from their power metal days, but Reinventing the Steel I i Like more than FBD. Please do a nu-metal origin video with Korn's self-titled album!!!
@Jamie Slays, once again a great video, well done sir! Which preset did you use for Primal Concrete Sledge? Or did you make your own preset? Each preset is very subtle in the eq, so I haven't found the right one yet....
I can’t pick a favorite, honestly. Some days I throw on Vulgar and will listen to it for a few days, then suddenly I’m in love with TGST again. All of their albums are amazing. True masters of metal
Sick vid and tones! My personal favorite would be Vulgar display of power! All of the Pantera albums are great but Vulgar was the one that introduced me to Pantera 🤘
Hell yeah, cowboys from Hell was also my favorite, I love their groove metal stuff, but there’s just something about the thrashiness that makes it better for me
Favorite song from this album is Medicine Man which I definitely thought you were going to play😂but this was awesome! I like Far Beyond the Driven right behind this album, Cowboys from Hell is my favorite👍🏻
Far beyond driven is my favorite Pantera album
nice profile pic, m8! My favorite is Vulgar Display but Far Beyond Driven comes so close
Definitely far beyond.... The Tones!!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Far Beyond 2nd to Steel
Alter Bridge bro! YEAAAAAAAH!
Especially the song Five Minutes Alone
anyone else start singing the lyrics in their heads while watching this?
That tone is actually pretty stellar
Mitchell Bruce it's Dimebags soo.. It's awesome my dude
@@gummiwummi5828 Thats why I said it lol
Lol have a good one Rest In piece Dime and Vinny.
Need to add “The Art Of Shredding” to this list...One of the best songs on the album!
They are all the best, except, maybe, medicine man
I'm gonna have to say DOMINATION it's all about domination and power and control
Art of shredding is for sure the pinnacle of the album. The bridge riff alone is worthy of mention
Yes...
I was really hoping he’d bust out the bridge of this one
Dime was a master with riffs, no argument about it. He was perfect with his playing and writing, never missed a note. Same with his solos
My favorite album was The Great Southern Trendkill
Drag the waters is fucking great man
Mine is Far Beyond Driven
i dont have a favorite i find them all to be amazing
Me at the start: "Ahh, the classic search for Dime's tone"
Me at the drop of first song: "Oh FUCK"
I love it, you completely captured the pantera vibe that makes their songs so insanely intense. This is a job job awesomely done dude. This album holds a special place in my heart as it was one of the album that got me into the harscher metal genres and cowboy from hell is still one of my favourite songs ever
it also shows how much of later pantera was already there on CFH
Least acclaimed, but Great Southern Trendkill is my fav. Looks like you had a dimebucker and a 59 in the neck. Sounds killer on a Schecter. Keep slaying those tasty licks

It is so much better than anything they've done. Cowboys is up there but not quite the same level.
@@mikesbadopinions9671 apart from the first 5, most of Vulgar, all of Driven bar too songs and all of Steel, you're correct.
Domination till this day is my Favorite song and solo!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 great video!!
that tone is fire brother.....so good
Reinventing The Goddamn Steel
Is their most underappreciated album
Vulgar Display of Power for me, my boy. But Cowboys is my second favorite. Also, I take great pride in being from the state as Dime and Pantera. Texas for the win!
Oh shit!! That’s so cool! Lone 🌟 state 🤠
@@JamieSlays *Lone Star State
Maverick McFarlane I put a star emoji lol
I lived in Dallas a few years, not too far from where Dime and Vinnie are buried. You could feel that heavy metal energy I swear.
Man, I think all of us texans are proud. The metal heads just have that much more of a reason to be.
For me trendkill is my favorite but Cowboys is amazing
same
You know he uses the exact same amp and set up for trendkill as he did on CFH. A lot of people don't know that
I agree. I feel like dimes rhythm riffs were at there prime during that album. Super heavy, super awesome.
I like the song immortally insane
Iv been waiting for this Jamie love it RIP dime and vin we love and miss you both 🤘
The Sleep is my favorite song on Cowboys from Hell. You dominate everything you play, dude. Good shit.
He nailed the hell out of those riffs - flawless riffage!
Uploaded December 9th. Well played Mr. Slays
Also, your tones are fucking amazing now. Truly some top of the line quality content.
Aw thanks bro! Appreciate it 🙇♂️
Thanks so much for all the love in the chat bro!
You omitted The Sleep! Great record.
That album above all else is what got me playing the guitar - iconic and setting the standard for metal !
Nice dude! I struggle with choosing favourites for anything, but I think my personal favourite riff on that album is the breakdown on Message in Blood. Brutal and groovy at the same time!

-10 points because you forgot The Sleep, and it's underrated and deserves some love and attention
Regardless, I liked and subbed.
You now have a new worshiper.
I am 100% with you on this one.Cowboys was the album that changed my life as a metalhead, I decided to start playing guitar after lisyening to Dimebag.BTW, congrats on your riffs, you nailed them!!!!
My main one is cowboys from hell to. Message in blood, heresy, and domination are awesome. And so are you. Keep up the great work
I absolutely love that little lead bit in primal concrete sledge.
riffing is all about understanding the dynamics. you nail everything.
Thank you!! Yes tone is a big part but for bands with only one guitar there's usually alot of little nuances you have to nail to make it come across. And ya he killed it.
Primal Concrete Sledge will always be my favorite song on Cowboys!
Don't forget to do one for Chuck as well :')
if you're a real Pantera fan, name a song other than Last Resort. R.I.P James Owen Sullivan, a.k.a The Rev, best bassist ever

Ohio is for lovers by Pantera 🤘

My favorites go in this order
Vulgar display of power
Far beyond driven
Cowboys from hell
The great southern trendkill

What I think is so great about CFH is how it blends that 90s heavy Pantera sound with the 70s-80s Judas Priest high notes and fast sound.
