there are, but for bigger boats the current isn't strong enough to do any damage, so its considered safe to be in the water with them!

I lived by the ocean for nearly 30 years, fished clear out to the Farallons, SCUBA dived up and down the coast, but have never seen a whirlpool and I hope I never do, although I do know how to get out of one if I got sucked in! I can't imagine being in a boat and being drawn towards one, time to reverse and get the hell out of Dodge! That's a scary situation!
So, how does one get out?
@@completelymindfucked A strong whirlpool is going to suck you down into the swirling water. The width of it can make a difference but if you are in the water and get sucked down, you swim strongly to the side of it until you no longer feel the eddy and then surface. Of course, avoiding one is best, get out of the water of you see it swirling anywhere!
