i was working on morning shift for security at St Kilda Acland st, sometime in 1999, finished 3pm & waiting the Tram to take me to the city, long story short I heard two people one with the guitar and the lady singing this song sitting on close to me but on top, then I started listening, the tram left it was Sunday and had to wait for next one about another half an hour it worth it I never forget.
This song reminds me of my husband I lost to drugs. I lost the fight against his demons and his mother. I will never understand why he chose the lifestyle he has. I still love him when I’m sleeping. He comes to me in my dreams. I wish I could forget about him. Bitter sweet.
No offence, but you're better off without a drug addict. He may have been a good person, but drugs will completely obliterate a person, and addicts would quite often harm those closest to them for their next "fix"
It can be so hard to let go, but a step in the right direction is knowing that it’s not your fault. Believing it isn’t enough, you must know it. You’re obviously a good soul, and I wish you the very best on your path to recovery ❤
In 1998, I can remember driving away from a toxic relationship in a beautifully idyllic tourist town in which I had moved for a few years. I was crying, sobbing and thinking about staying but I knew what I had just been through was really unhealthy. I can remember crying with this song playing. It brings me right back to that feeling of a new start ❤🎉
This song is an absolute marvel. The songwriting and adoring vocals are brilliant. I always felt this song was underrated but I just looked it up, it was nominated for Best Single at the 97 ARIA'S, but snagged by Truely Madly Deeply (predictably). It did collect Song of the Year at the APRA's though. Incredible that it hasn't been covered by an international superstar yet
