My older sister brought home Paranoid a day or 2 after it’s release. I was 9 years old and was listening to the Monkee’s and the Banana Splits..! To say that album was an inspiration on me is By far, an understatement ! I started drumming professionally 7 years later and at 61.., I’m still out there.., but when Sabbath
“Snubbed” Bill Ward on this tour ? I’ll never forgive them..!

    • @markyouwishyouknew6211

Sabbath didn't snubb Bill on that tour, BW said he didn't want to do it because the management didn't offer him enough money, glad I saw the last incarnation in 1999

If you'd of watched any documentaries or even read the lyrics on Sabatage you would know that their management totally ripped them off esp on the first 4 albums , hole in the sky .................whachouttttttttttttttttttt

Back in the late 70's I was at a Sabbath show Tony , Geezer , and Ozzy were so wasted that the 3 just stood on stage and stared out into the crowd . Then Bill started to pound on his sticks and counted 1. 2 3 4....and proceeded to carry the band most of set until the three started to sober up. I too miss Bill Ward but I have scene him in Huntington Beach a few times.

As a drummer myself, I can see that Tommy's kit is a homage to the huge Ludwig kits and heavily influenced by Bill's drum setups during his era of sabbath and the 1970s era drum kits when it comes to concert toms and octobans.. but I've looked at numerous pictures of Tommy's kit during this tour and I'm still trying to figure out why he put a China cymbal infront of his two octobons as you can see from the video angle thats above his concert tom set up.. it doesn't make sense because with that China infront of it he is unable to hit or even play the octobons at all. Some things drummers add to their is mostly for aesthetics rather than playability.. but I don't get why drummers do stuff like that lol. Ive never drummed for a big band like sabbath but every touring act I have played for, everything Ive added to my personal kit for the band im playing for I actually play and if I'm not playing it or find no use for it.. it's not on my drum rack.

It's a fact of life that with age it gets difficult for drummers to play like they once did and have the stamina for a long concert. It's much easier for old guys to stand there and play guitar, sometimes even better than they did when younger. It's a shame they could'nt do their final tour with Bill, because he was awesome and perfect on the early Sabbath stuff. However, Clufetos is also an awesome drummer and did a terrific job for the guys and made the final gigs great!

I've always liked Bill Ward as one of the top drummers, but this has just cemented my belief that he has to be in the top 5 of drummers!!

No Bill no Black Sabbath, the other 3 farked Bill over. Once my absolute favourite band diminished by greed.

See him at Black Sabbaths Sydney concert. Could easily be the new drummer for the Foo Fighters

He must be an Eric Carr fan, half his solo was a rip off from Erics solo. Tommy Aldridge was in there too.

When Alan White's health let him down for various reasons Yes still brought him out to play the encores Black sabbath didn't have that same amount of respect for Bill Ward.

Bill is partly to blame also. It was his drinking and drug use that caused a lot of problems. Rock drummers have been know to be the biggest partiers in rock bands. Kieth Moon...John Bonham...The Rev from Avenge 7 Fold. ..Steve Adler G n R and so on

@@agro2612 Bill had drink and drug problems years ago - but has been clean and sober for decades. The reason why they didn’t want him in the reunion is because he got old and fat - whereas the rest if them are all still youthful and really healthy (🙄)…
Trouble is the drummer needs to work really hard, they can’t stand and twiddle a few fingers like the bass player and guitarist….

@@SAHBfan when Sabbath got with Ronnie James Dio and made there 1st album together it was Dio who wanted Vinnie Appice on drums but prior Bill was having problems with Geezer and Tony about contract issues. Plus Bill was having issues with health and age. I just didn't feel that the band should had cut him off like they did but I understand that Bill was part of the problem. I don't even know if Bill even went into the hall of Fame with Sabbath.

For those actually critiquing this drum solo, how about cooling it just a bit, ok? If Ozzy handed you a pair sticks can any of you do any better? I saw him do this solo live at MSG that same month. I was not totally impressed musically either at the time, but then again its a Heavy Metal DRUM SOLO. The man is working hard and doing his job. I will agree there were probably too many ** dead-stop** -slow-to-fast -- audience participation sections (1 or 2 is enough) . Otherwise a great show of stamina and bombastic heavy metal drumming.
    - - - @2:55 He breaks into a fast swing beat but stops 8 seconds later - probably thought, what the heck am I doing? this isn't jazz at the Philharmonic and I'm not Buddy Rich. Its a Black Sabbath farewell concert.
    - - - @3:32 the fill-combinations and shapes he starts throwing on the Toms are fantastic! Blazing fast and precise - right up there with best of them. And I'm sure guys like Tommy Aldridge and Todd Sucherman would agree.
    - - - @4:10 he goes straight into a blistering roll between the toms and bass drums. Looks like its alternating strokes between the hands and feet. ( R F L F ) really fast.
