I disagree about trading Arenado and Helsley. From outward appearances, the elder Nolan hasn't been a net benefit to the clubhouse for the past two seasons, and the team is hardly starved of serviceable 3B (Gorman, Donovan, Fermín, Saggese). Is he going to help younger players improve in 2025? Will he perform well enough to justify his salary (minus the Rockies' contributions) in 2026-27? I don't think either of those things will be true. Don't let him go for nothing, but several rich teams are looking for a 3B this off-season (e.g., NYY, HOU, TOR), so a justifiable return is plausible. As for Helsley, he's under contract for just one more year and would likely go to a 2025 contender for an attractive trade package after his NL Reliever of the Year season. Relievers are not good long-term investments; their performance tends to be quite volatile. Besides, a pitcher throwing a 100-mph fastball and breaking balls with 2400-2500 RPMs is a Tommy John surgery waiting to happen. Don't extend Helsley; trade him now while his value is at its peak. Who's going to close next year? Romero, King, and Fernandez all have arguments in their favor based on 2024 performance. None of them were as good as Helsley was, but the '25 closer doesn't need to be. By 2026, a new closer will have emerged in STL, or Bloom will find another pitcher we've never heard of (like Kittredge and Fernandez) who turns out to be great. Ultimately, the Cardinals need the prospects that these players can yield in a trade more than they need these players for the remainder of their contracts.
I think everything their doing with Contreras makes sense. I also think they should trade helsley he's not that young. He's 29 and relievers are volatile. You could get a high upside reliever for not very much.
If the dodgers sign saroka or whatever from Japan I’d try to move Helsley and Arenado for Ryan River+Bobby Miller or Phillies for Painter.. if Orioles were willing to give up holiday even better but I don’t see any of that
Cards let Pujols walk after a WS so I disagree with moving Arenado and it affecting the team for years.. the guy doesn’t truly want to be here for this rebuild
I think they wanted to shed as much money as they could but Wilson and Gray wanting to stay forced their hand ... trading Arenado make sense in a "youth movement but be competitive" scenario. Cuz having 3rd base open gives the youth more opportunity. Trading Helsley makes sense. Fernandez or Libertore can step up ... trading Fedde makes sense based off what you could get for him ... BUT trading Gray would only be a money move. Not a youth movement move. And it obvious they want to trade him.
They aren’t trading Fedde as he is cheap.. Arenado being moved is big youth movement.. but Saggase weatherholt coukd be ready soon and are blocked it’s sad
Honestly I’d like to see Noot for an arm.. Arenado if dodgers sign Sasaki.. try for Ryan River or Bobby Miller and eat money.. (doubt it) Helsley for top prospect to a contender Holiday doubt Painter doubt it but you have to try.. those moves free up space for young guys coming up.. if and big IF Weatherholt and Saggase suddenly become ready where do they play.. Mcgreevy needs to be in rotation.. Libby maybe new closer idk.. give another shot.. pallante locked in… Mathews and Hence imo should be called up soon.. Graceffo.. needs to step up as well… but again this isn’t a team to look out for imo till start of 2026!
Bro.. you can’t say Cardinals don’t care.. maybe to a point from FO.. but they just can’t compete.. Dodgers Phillies Padres Atlanta(when healthy) Mets(will spend) and Arizona once they retool… those teams aren’t going anywhere for at least 5 years… not to mention the Brewers are a complete thorn in their side.. and just wait till the Reds really figure it out… they will be a problem bank on it… there is absolutely imo no path for them anywhere!
Arenado didnt sign for a rebuild and his lack of hustle cant be overlooked, Miles and Steven shouldnt be allowed on a big league mound, they have plenty of room to do a reliever by committee until someone steps forward, we have to see what these young arms can do imstead of hoard them these guys arent babies anymore they are 22 and 23 and need their arms stretched out in the big leagues, Baker should get atleast 3 AB's a game, they need to get out of Jordan's head but get into Gormans head, VS should be leading off because Wynn has shown to be a pretty good contact man ( a little hit and run ), but above all Oli is a lame duck coach so they need to move on
With Willie at 1B now I don’t see baker getting any AB’s… with still a crowded outfield… maybe if they move on from Noot.. idk.. he’s good but never healthy
You talk all of that stuff about your reasons for jordan walker's struggles, the reason why these guys don't reach their potential is because the Cardinals don't know how to let them develop! They need to get whatever they can for these players! Trade them!
Trading Helsey is a great move his value us the most now and relievers flame out
Bro, im so tuned out with the Cardinals, and I've been fan for over 55 years. I'm still a fan, but please dont waste my time Cardinals
ACE!
It will be wasted even more this season
The state of the St. Louis Cardinals is Missouri. Lol 😅😂
Misery I tell people that all the time

My worries for next year is they said we won 10 to 15 more games this year so what will next year will be

well said, Keith!

@@boschlosser10ok DH, him plus Willie's gonna DH a few games too, the Key is Gorman
The cardinals aren’t an AL team they aren’t DHing him like that.. key problem is Mo and continues to be Mo
@boschlosser10 AL ? You better look at lineups around baseball

This is the time to get rid of all those players! Arenado ,😅Gray, Mikolas and all of them other over paid players
Forget all this stuff. Get this man some new batteries for his smoke detector so it quits beeping through the whole video
c’mon!
