A very enjoyable interview indeed. I've had the pleasure of sharing the stage with John at Monday Magic. To say the least, he owned the stage with his unique blend of humor and likable personality. His "come-backs" were priceless and littered throughout his routine, not to mention his Superman reveal at the end. If the audience is paying to be entertained then anytime John is on the stage they more than got their money worth. The Great Throwdini

I’ve seen John consistently blow audiences away, and having read his book, he really gives EVERYTHING away. Nothing is held back. This is a great interview and John’s warmth and humor shine through.

So great to talk to you (again!), Steve. I feel like I am talking to a friend I've known for years. Love your RUclips channel, and thanks for the opportunity to be a part of it.

Hi John (and/or Steve), I really enjoyed this interview, thanks to both of you for doing it. I was wondering if you would recommend your book to someone who is just starting out and is focused more on the mentalism side of things rather than the magic side?
      Many thanks again,
      Jay

@@jayplays568 Hey Jay! I can honestly say...YES! Although focusing mainly on magic, the principles are interchangeable with mentalism, as far as structure and connecting with your audience. If you do pick it up, I hope you enjoy it!

@@johngrahammagic Thanks John, appreciate the response. I should say, I am just getting into the hobby so I don't even have a list of mentalism tricks I could perform. I'm not sure if that would change your answer, but I wanted to mention it just in case!

@@jayplays568 Still the same, Jay. And I wish you the best of luck in your journey!

Great interview. Great book. I remember the catalog illustrations too. Ed Mishell, Francis B. Martineau, Nelson Hahne. They were as influential as the tricks they advertised. I always wanted to perform in those sophisticated nightclubs those guys in the pictures were working in.
It is interesting to hear John talk about the “death of the live show”. I don’t think audiences are as conditioned to live performances as they once were. They literally have to be taught how to react within the performance.
I totally agree with the discussion on making sure the venue is arranged to the performer’s specifications. God is in the details.

Until I saw a write-up about this book, I was unaware of John. Since its release I've watched a boatload of his videos--he definitely knows how to routine, present and stage a show. I'll be getting this book. BTW, Steve, I love your comments about 'fails' on stage (actually, I laughed). If YOU ever do a book, consider titling it: 'Nobody died' :)
