- My first Run of Lies of P was an absolute blast. I used a Motivity (Strength) Build and mained a lot of cool heavy weapons throughout the playthrough. I believe i only missed a single bossfight near the beginning of the game and ended up getting an ending with an extra boss. Lies of P was one of those games that gives me an experience I long for, where I can't wait to get home and play. When it's one of the only things on my mind. I feel like I only ever get a game like it every like 2 years. But this year has been very good. Final Fantasy 16 was a super good time, then Lies of P, and now I have Lords of the Fallen. Finally, a stacked year.

This game was by far one of my favorites. it’s up there with elden ring and ds3. Already have 65+ hrs on it
I feel the same way. I'd put it above DS3, and just below Elden Ring. It's so unbelievably good.

This is like my #3 or #4 all time favorite game. My first playthrough was really enjoyable, but I actually prefer the way they do NG+ to what I've seen in the FromSoft games...so even after beating it on NG it GREW on me after I beat it. I had LOTF preordered but I'm so addicted to Lies of P I put that on hold for now.

I did a capacity build w/ Tyrant Slaying dagger and the salamander handle. I tried to keep my weight in the "light" category. Super fun, along with never ending stamina.
For others trying this, NG++ has a P-organ skill that lowers your weight category, down by 1. If you're slightly heavy, you will receive no penalty and at average(below 60%) you will be considered light, giving you access to a lot of the heavier weapons, armor and amulet.

@@chriswihulu The more I think about it, it's the 7th tier. I agree that's very fair. Plus they put the Auto Charging Legion perk in like the 5th or 4th tier and that one is crazy good too lol
@@SugarRayD yep, think the Seventh phase also has another "regain legion on enemy kill" so I can literally pull an enemy towards me and get full Legion Bar back, without extra step or wait.
Bosses are still tough as heck and while it hurts to admit, I have spammed throwables to win more than once.

Lies of P is the closest youre gonna get to an authentic Souls experience. Its done so well it almost feels like FromSoft worked on it.
LotF on the other hand feels like someone played DS2 and thought "how can I make this even more frustrating to play?" It does some cool things but ultimately the ridiculous amount of enemies that never deaggro, among many other things, make it a chore to play.
Not to mention the terrible lazy names they gave the bosses
This is so hypocritical. This is an issue this game suffers from as well and they had to fix it. On the demo and release, enemies would chase you half across the map. LotF is patching the number of enemies and their aggro range, boasts a way larger amount of weapons/armors/spells and has a way more interesting world to explore. Not to mention it's own unique elements, like the Umbral world. LoP is just a cheap copycat of Fromsoft and brought nothing new to the genre.
Game has no build variety or replay value.

I had a feeling this was going to be good but it just blew my expectations away. Such an incredible game and is gonna probably join ER, DS1 and Bloodborne in my replay/ng+ rotation of games. Im playing lords of the fallen now but im still here watching lies of p content lol.
I feel like some people in here act like everything FromSoft makes is perfect gold across the board and doesn’t have its own bad levels, bad bosses, and frustrating/meh gameplay. I love FS but y’all got rose-tinted glasses. Lies of P is notable because it arguably has a better ratio of hits with those components than a lot of FS’s catalogue.
Right? Like Dark Souls I for instance, is great in its first half, and then is literal ass in its second half with shitty areas, exceptionally shitty bosses, reused bosses (some even 3 times) etc.
People need to grow up and realize that other games that use the same formula can in fact be better than FromSoftware's older games

Every level in Lies of P is so linear that I count all of them as really bad or DS1 endgame level in quality. Getting lost and finding crazy ways to loop back to hub areas is my thing in these games.

It isnt the best Soulslike, because IMO it is in a category somewhere between "Soulslike" and "Actually Miyazaki". It is better than the best Soulslike. Almost a peer to actual DS/BB/ER/Sekiro, maybe.
Lords of The Fallen is a contender in the Soulslike category, certainly a worthwhile endeavor to check it out..... but it isnt in the same league as LoP, since nothing else exists in the category.
I'm around 235 hours into NG+2, exploring the hidden depths of Weapon Assembly, and finding the secrets around the maps, of which there are many and almost all super hard to find.
I despise dark souls one with a burning passion every annoying thing about souls anything games is found in ds1 I enjoyed this about the same as ds3

Lies Of P got me completely uninterested into the story and world.
Lying felt like it had no real affect until i heard something along the line "it changes an encounter in the game" or something (correct me if im wrong), but if its just 1 encounter id still see it as a pointless mechanic for a game literally called "Lies Of P".
The bosses are cool ill hand it that but i got so bored playing this game im probably half way done, the story matters to me as a player because it makes the world for a lack of better words "noticable". Without a good story the world building and details put in it is invisible.
Lords Of The Fallen in comparison feels like a great souls-like, with amazing world details but also map layout that got me searching for hours, every little corners in both axiom and Umbral. Lies of P failed to give me that want to search for items and armors. The mechanics and combat, and progression after beating a boss never hit that spot that many other souls-like like Steelrising gave me.
Idk what else i can say but I truly did not enjoy the game but im glad many other people do. Its still a reallybeautiful game with intricate designs and memorable bosses. It was simply not for me but im looking forward to Speedruns and GDQ's charity runs too.

The NPC greeting dialogue gets repetitive quick but I’ve been impressed with pretty much every script so far with a couple exceptions.

Watching this for the first time. Most deaths in this KOP/Romeo fight are because you run away. People, this game will not let you run away. Find another way

like i said before, im VERY happy with the soulsborne series copy cat games. usually copycat games suck but these have been on par with soulsborne. in difficulty and lore. if theres one series i want more games of, its def soulsborne.

You're not missing out on lords of the fallen. The frame drops and bugs still out of hand. Should have spent another 6 months in the oven and a demo would have helped too. Feels like they literally just ripped everything from all the souls games and combined it in a more janky way. Lies of p has its own identity. They used the souls formula but everything seems pretty unique. Music in this game is very good, lotf easily forgotten

Finally bought this today. The praise for it from everyone overwhelmed my initial dislike for the emo boy protagonist. Lets see how it goes.
Not only is it the best soulslike, I also think it is better than the souls games.
A couple of things didn't sit right with me, like the linear level design and fury attacks, but overall Lies of P is fantastic. It really understand that Fromsoft style games are about more than just difficulty. They're about atmosphere, artistry, and communicating themes. Lies of P really nails this, especially with the records
Skimming thru this video was painful then the ending was like 🤔 This dude talking so much and not paying attention to the games dialogs or cutscenes is why he didnt understand what Gep said when he was talking about his dead son Carlo.
I'm sorry, but the game is nowhere close to DS1. DS1 is over a decades old and still contains more weapons and builds than LoP, including actual ranged options and magic systems. It has the covenant system, co-op and PVP. A world that is non linear and levels that everyone copies (LoP included) to this day. A far greater enemy variety and most importantly a balance around every build.
LoP is an ok game, but it just copies what Fromsoft has done all these years. Perfect blocking and staggering like Sekiro, rally health system and dodging like Bloodborne (even the weapons are a copy of the trick ones) and it's more linear than DS2, with just as many cheap ambushes.
It can very well sit at the top of other games, but as a souls like it's just a cheap knock off and an embarrassment for the studio. Cool visuals and cutscenes guys, but you had no soul in your game.
So, u complaining bcuz they didnt add ranged options, magic, more weapons, balance (wth… DS’s doesnt have balance, look at the one shot builds) tell em the truth, ur just bad at the game and u want magic options 😂

love this game! i play with the easy mod installed bc the parry timing is way too tight for me in the regular version. luckily the mod doesn't make it ridiculously easy to play, though, so I still get a real challenge
I'm an old guy with arthritis, so I'm not great at that either. This game's leveling system is easy though, and some of the tools and abilities they give you late game and NG+/++ help a lot. I made they game enjoyable for myself without using mods, just leveling and getting all of the upgrades, plus of course spectors. On NG +2, I decided to try Laxia without a summon and got her 3rd try anyway, and could have gotten her 1st and 2nd but was fumbling with my items so I cut the junk out of there then got her. (the same way I do for the harder souls bosses I simplify my loadout to avoid that) This is why the game is constantly climbing my all time favorite list....you can make it really hard or just slightly difficult within the game itself.
I never parry and I'm doing just fine.
For those claiming GOTY, Lies of P won’t even be nominated for GOTY, not everyone can play this game and it only sold 1 million copies, most likely GOTY will be Boulders Gate at 5.6 million copies, let’s face it, Lies of P is probably the best looking game to date, story is fantastic, but they screwed up by making the perfect parry essential to beating a boss, yes you can use throwable’s but you won’t have enough for both phases of a boss.

@bradenbean9178 not true at all, bloodborne is still talked about and played heavily by dedicated fans. Multi-player exists in it, but almost nobody plays Multi-player in it. I know numerous people who played lies of P, and they will all tell you it's good, but definitely not the "greatest souls like ever". Your opinion is solely subjective, and frankly, will be obsolete in due time.

What I notice people not deduce is that you can press the block button to initiate the first perfect guard and then only release it to press it again right when you need to attempt the next perfect guard. If that fails, you will still block the attack and not get hit outright. If you're tapping the button to perfect guard and then releasing it immediately, you're always going to be unguarded. It is entirely possible and viable to parry numerous fast attacks in succession this way and not take any direct damage. I have just noticed that not a lot of people attempt to play that way.
I loved the story of the game and how it unfolded, soundtrack was unforgettable and the gameplay is refined if anything. Amazing game highly recommend, also all the endings are sad

It won’t make GOTY because only select people can actually play it, in normal English, it’s too damn hard and not many are going to practice for hours just to learn how to perfect parry each boss.
You're joking, right? I played demo, and it's just horrible. It's very clumsy, combat feels awkward, enemy positions don't make sense, bosses are made hard just by increasing their HP, map is confusing. It makes you appreciate From Software ten times more
@@BigChiken44 It's incredibly polished all around. Nothing I'd consider clumsy, great, satisfying combat system, boss quality on par with some of Fromsoft's work. The map is maybe a bit too linear for my taste but that's only a minor a gripe and essentially the opposite of what you said so I just can't understand that sentiment.

My rating is a 9.5/10
I had very few critisisms regarding the game and they were mostly minor. Its a really high quality, well polished, well executed Souls game. It really is. And it brings good innovations to the table like weapon assembly system, the health regain system. And succesfully adapting a fairytale narrative may make other Soulslikes do the same moving forward.

Hello everyone, Lies Of P destroyed me from start to the endgame but after losing to all the boss many times i played now at max difficulty on NG+7 to get a true challenge with all boss i fight them all without sumon. (4 me it' a very good souls like 😇) I play also DS1, DS2, DS3, ELDEN, AT NG+7. I KNOW U ARE A TRUE MASTER IN ALL FROMSOFTWARE GAMES BECAUSE U ARE DOING THE NO HIT RUN. LEVEL 1 RUN. AND GOD RUN ALL GAMES IN A ROW. U are an amazing player to watch and your knowledge is extremely good.Wish U all the best 4 the future.See U soon😇
It's certainly the best "Souls-like" game not made by Fromsoft. And it's definitely better than DS2. And subjectively, I also like it better than DS1. I don't think it is as good as Sekiro or Bloodborne, the games it most closely resembles. But it does combine many of the best traits of each, while throwing in some really good ideas of its own. For the studio's first attempt at the genre, it is astoundingly good.
My only major complaint is how linear it is. There's one path, straight through the whole game. No branching paths and very little exploration. If you get stuck on something, you can't go anywhere else, except backwards. So you just have to bang your head against it until you succeed.

My GAME OF THE YEAR SO FAR! I didn't like the demo. So I'm very surprised. I've finished the game twice so far. It's amazing game .

It was alright! Visuals and art design are cool, despite being derivative. But feels way too clunky, everything feels like it has 60 frames of input delay and 300 recovery frames.
For me it's not the best souls game but one of my favourite souls game, heck I even like this more than Nioh 2 or Surge 2 lol.. The gameplay mechanics shows how much they care on the souls genre.. Tried it expecting another disappointing code vein lol.. My only gripe is the short tight dodge and lack of hyper armor.. And I love that you can customize weapon handles to make strength weapons hit faster then p.organ to further upgrade your character.. Just about to finish my 1st playthrough and love it so far
Since sekiro is one of the few games I gave platinum, lies of p was sadly a little too easy. Either way I couldn’t put it down 😊
I spent like 2 hours on Manus and then immediately went and beat Nameless Puppet in one go. Using the wrench head and handle the whole game on my first playthrough lol I thought it was so damn funny. Really enjoyed blasting through the game over the first couple of days it was out. Haven't touched it since but I'm feeling a big hankering to run a ng+ or two in order to get all the achievements and play around with other weapons
I have 3 +10 Big Pipe Wrench heads lol. (different handles so I can change quickly in the heat of battle) I enjoy a few other weapons, but even on NG+3 it is my go to and always fun! Favorite so far is combining it with the Exploding Pix Axe handle.
It felt like a knockoff., Some of the animations are copied from dark souls

This game man... It surprised me big time. I just randomly had it recommended and it blew me away. Pure fun from start to finish. One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is seeing the significant difference in play styles from one person to the next. I played a certain way utilizing dodges/shielding and playing more cautiously with light weapons and chipping away while squilla is leveraging heavy attack staggers and perfect guards while being far more aggressive. It just allows for so much personality through the way you like to play and every style is viable given you master that style. How they pulled off the viability of all the different play styles and weapons is amazing. Take notes other developers, this is how you do it.... and the weapon mod system is the chefs kiss on top. 9/10, probably the best souls-like in existence.
Imagine the internet explosion that would have transpired if there was even just one "Puppet Lives Matter" sign in the game. Especially with the reaction to the "All Puppets Are Bastards" reference in the promotional trailers that they removed...

We had kind of a similar first playthrough, up until Archbishop Andreas. Then i got out classed. You are good, streamer.
seeing you get wreked by Puppet King makes me feel a little better about the 500+ tries it took me lmao. Such a stamina battle.

Best I can describe the core gameplay: game ties you to a chair, points a gun at your head and politely asks you to learn how to "Perfect Guard". Additionally sheer length of some combos, the giant mix bag of varied attack timings with some being so fast - no way you're reacting to that, damage enemies do and your only actually valid defensive option being aforementioned "Perfect Guard" whole thing turns into "learn parry timing on 80% enemy moves or get pummeled" and "slightest misstep while balancing on tightrope you'll get got by flamethrowers on the sides, sharks below or pummeled by enemy in front".
While some-freaking-how all the major bossfights took me 5 tries or less (so it's not like it's super hard or anything) the intense rage-inducing frustration from the experience definitely is there.
Mix it with all the good features, like decent QOL, good visuals, music, etc, the overall polish and amusing crafting system - it's a good game I like it, but it's asking from you as if it's a best game ever, so prepare yourself.
Lords of The Fallen another mix bag of great and "wtf were you thinking!?" ideas. While visuals, music and decently responsive controls are great, performance in 9 patches (at time of comment) hasn't improved, for me actually got worse.
Continuing on combat and mixed bags: great exploration experience bogged down by controversial "enemy quantity over quality" (didn't have much problem myself almost liked the enemy quantity even, but I would prefer having less but better); nice fast attacks, attack cancels etc, but massive forward motion on attacks feels off (off a cliff...); there's decent variety of weapon classes, but each class weapons have exactly same animations, you can seamlessly dual-wield any weapons, but moveset is mostly horizontal swipes...
If you want to play: make sure to use all your weight limit staying below "heavy", focus on one damage stat and HP, so you get them to 25+ early, move around - stamina is tweaked for that and explore.
Can't say I can freely recommend either game at base asking price, but I've enjoyed both, although between the Lies of P and Lords of The Fallen - former is more linear and polished experience.
I have never parried or guarded and I'm doing just fine.

@@pillagius Okay, I guess you are correct. I have tried it a few times at some points but I always get my ass kicked when I do so I stopped trying. I typically don't block or parry in any soulslike games. I use the button for fable arts and have been hit while holding it down I suppose. However, blocking and parrying are not required to play this game. Doesn't matter if you don't believe me. I can honestly say that I have beaten every boss so far with out blocking or parrying them once. With the exception of the eldest bunny boy who I tried it on for several fights before giving up and using throwables. My point is that you do not need it.
Armored core 6 is still my choice for goty, with lords of the fallen close behind, but lies of p is the next best soulslike tied with thymesia

It's just doesn't feel satisfying. The combat system is clumsy, the rolls feel slower than actual running. It's just not fun.
For example, the first miniboss in Life of P, if after death you try to run to him, to try to fight him again, several enemies will actually follow you there and won't allow you to fight the miniboss normally. No, Nioh is the best still. Lies of P is too linear and favours only few, if not one Playstyle.
Nah, nioh is barley a souls like. Lords of the fallen is the most true to form and easily the best yet outside of the real ones

What do you mean by only one playstyle? I agree it's more far linear than dark souls, and you can't do a mage/faith build or anything like that obviously. That's why people compare it more to sekiro and bloodborne I guess.

This game was mid af. Combat sucks, devs clearly didn't understand the downsides of making a conglomerate of all Fromsoft combat ideas or how to implement them in a cohesive way. Last 3rd of LoP was an absolute slog poorly paced and bad bosses. Bleh.
LotF is drastically better in everyway and for sure the best non FS souls game. Maybe LoP devs will learn from their mistakes but I doubt it since it's seemed to have attracted a bunch of people new to souls and have no idea how to compare it
