I'm from India, and I used to do meditation in school and at home. But I stopped doing it as time went on. Two years ago, I diaognised with ADHD. Since then, I've been trying to meditate again, but it's hard for me to focus, even though I know different techniques. Can you share what kind of meditation do you do? I'd like to hear about my fellow Adhder' s experiences too for meditation. Also, This learning journey video is so good, I can totally relate to it. Thanks for sharing information!
Hey! I do a mixture of pranayam, vipassina, yoga nidra and even some mantra. There's SO much to choose from and you're in the perfect place to explore them!
My psychologist recommended Yoga Nidra which is a sort of active meditation where you are constantly guided thus don’t have the opportunity to think about your grocery list 😅 it works great for me.
That’s funny. My Senior year my parents encouraged me to try Cosmetology. That was 1984. I finally had something I really had a passion for besides Swimming, and teaching children how to swim. I loved it.I ended up working in shops that were for right out of cosmetology school for a while. I got Married and started having kids. Well my hubby ended up cheating on me, and I ended up a single parent. So I had to change that career into something with insurance. I then got a bachelors in Education, and then a Masters in Special Education. That really helped me. I had a career that I could be legit passionate about. The passion about things seems to always lead my decisions and what I pay total attention to.
I was a bad student and figured out decades later that the basic school curriculum is not for the ADHD BRAIN ALL ALL. Math was terrible I figured out that people are my numbers and that I prefer to study them.
Paused the video and unsubscribed to all of the makeup influencers I follow on RUclips. Brilliant tip - I wish I had done this before I ordered that red light mask.😳
I think the only thing that will work for me is the meds, I have tried everything from coaching to natural supplements, and it put me in the worst place of my life.... unfortunately I have no subjects or content that interests me, it bothers me that I am not passionate about anything in life.
@@CarenMagill I get bored quickly, I hold interest for a few weeks and then get extremely bored and jump to something else. It was always the case, the only thing that held my interest for a long time was heavy metal music, but eventually I saw patterns and similarities then got bored... Even in movies that people go crazy for such as the marvel movies, I find them extremely tedious, predictable and can see the same recycled formula with each movie.
Hi, I think I understand a little of what you mean. If someone asked me what I love to do or what I am interested in I wouldn't be able to tell them but if I have a reason to do something(a picture for a room or making a gift for a birthday) or a brief interest in the moment then I am interested in that thing at that time. Nothing that ties me to anything in particular. Its a bit crushing because it is an empty feeling.
This entire video resonated with me! I recently just got reevaluated for my ADHD as it’s been showing up way different in my adult life, and when I was a child. But this video made me feel comfortable with my reevaluation and now I can set new goals and standards for myself, and I feel good about it.
Shopping was huge for me, midnight shopping, I would buy things twice as by the morning I would forger I ordered them.
Yep, I've done that.

I enjoy bringing people together and figuring out why people do what they do.

Yoga Nidra is probably the best meditation I’ve tried. There is continuous coach on what to relax and it’s harder to drift away from it
Yoga nidra is fantastic! I follow a few folks on insight timer who do YN.
I’m finding meditation is making a big difference. 😊🧘🏼♀️
me too!
Anything that relaxes the ADHD brain can be used as meditation.
Thanks for being so informative and inspiring!!

Very insightful, I couldn’t agree more ❤
Thank you Caren this really resonates with me.
You are so welcome
I am very Intune with my inner self. Maybe due to my personality type

What about things that interested you as a child?
Actually, I think your mindset might be what holds you back the most. I cannot believe you have zero interests as a human being.

@@JTVSydney it was mostly Saturday morning cartoons and videos games, but I started getting bored of them by the time I turned 12.
