The parking brake on my 68 d300 was rusted solid (the cable was). The cable housing was black.. I bought an nos replacement and the housing was green. The length of the housing was about the same length but the cable was shorter than my original. I made an extended bracket to make it work. I wonder if the green cable was for a half ton with a smaller bellhousing or something. (My parking brake is the drum type)
I guess that depends on what flavor of nightmare you’re getting into - sitting for a long time? Rusty? Electrical problems? Bed in pieces? I’ve got detailed electrical guides up if you run into that kind of stuff - which is common on these. If it’s been sitting for ages you can expect brakes and anything rubber to be pretty well shot I imagine. Go through the truck and make a list of stuff you can see. Attack it one bit at a time. Don’t blow the whole truck to pieces thinking you’re going to restore it… ask me how I learned that one. Haha. If you have any specific questions or problems feel free to comment again and I’ll help as well as I can!
@@DeadDodgeGarage absolute unit man! Thanks. And yeah it was running and yard driving a few months ago but recently developed an issue getting fuel to carb.

Fix the brakes and the steering than use it for a shop truck.
This is dope
Man if I tried driving that truck I'd be busted so fast
Another winner
You should lift that and use that as beater/mud truck
I like the way you think. Unfortunately it’s long gone now.
@@DeadDodgeGarage ah ya
That was funny!
Self fixing!! 👌

Already sold unfortunately. The guy is going ham on it too.
@@DeadDodgeGarage Bummer--- I have been looking for my SECOND 56 to restore-- this would have been a great starting point.
