Another spin off channel in the works? Toy Galaxy: Holiday Decor. “Hi I’m Dan Larson, and this is the history of bubble lights. Bubble lights were a favorite fire hazard of the late 70s and early 80s consisting of that rare combination of electricity and liquid...”
I remember watching it in The Sci-Fi Channel back when they actually showed classic sci-fi. Ready Player One fans are familiar with it, as it's mentioned in the book as one of the shows that Wade has on his personal OASIS TV channel. I honestly think this show would be prime for a reboot that can work nowadays.
I would actually like this to happen. Keep their powers the same, if only to keep things interesting. Seeing as they're not quite like Comic Book Superheroes.
If they reboot this show, you know as well as I do that it would be wokened beyond recognition... EVERY straight white men being either dumb or evil, every positive characters being persons of color, LGBT and/or "disabled" in a way or another, the main character obviously gender and/or raceswapped... Every storylines would be an excuse for race or gender politics instead of entertainment... The usual woke bastardisation !
It could work, and Courtney Cox could come back as a cameo, or Gail's mother. Especially if the reboot played up the "alien or not" angle of her father.
Thank you for this. I loved this show as a kid, but nobody I ever talked to about it even knew it even existed. And I was not aware that there was a DVD Set of the show, so thanks again for the tip. I ordered it the minute this video was over. :D

Only October 1st and Dan has ALL the jack o' lanterns.
Thank Mrs Toy Galaxy!
@@TheBertLocker I'd watch it.
@@SecretGalaxyTV Thank You Mrs Toy Galaxy.
Finally. Airwolf!!!! ..... Wait a second. This isn't Airwolf at all. Damn you Daniel Tiberius Larson.
I loved this show when I was a kid! Think about it every now and then. I could see a reboot with new characters and actors.
Set it in the 80s and I'm in.
It could work, and Courtney Cox could come back as a cameo, or Gail's mother. Especially if the reboot played up the "alien or not" angle of her father.
Man, this episode went from silly and fun, to dark and tragic, to hopeful and uplifting in the span of a few minutes.
Thank you for this.
I loved this show as a kid, but nobody I ever talked to about it even knew it even existed.
And I was not aware that there was a DVD Set of the show, so thanks again for the tip. I ordered it the minute this video was over. :D
You're very welcome!
I loved this show. I have thought of it numerous times over the years. The characters drew me in back in the day.
I'm sure this show is terrible, but I loved it when I was 9. Same thing with "Sledge Hammer" that same year. There was a real dearth of decent television back then.
I literally cut the word "dearth" out of this script because I didn't think anyone knew that word existed.
Sledge Hammer was a riot, and the theme music was amazing.
Just added Sledge Hammer to the media server this week!
Sledge Hammer was basically an updated Police Squad if Frank Drebin had Dirty Harry overtones. I approve.
@@SecretGalaxyTV Next time, don't cut it out. We're SUPPOSED to look up words we don't recognize, and anyone who complains is clearly grouchy from missing nap time.
I may have been only 5 years old when this show was aired, but I've never forgotten it and loved the HELL out of it. I think it popped up on Sci-Fi a couple years ago. I wish it was on a streaming service.
thanks for covering this one! I LOVED this show!
I was a fan of this show back in the day.. Never realised that 'L' was played by Kevin Peter Hall!
He was also on 227. He married Rose.
I totally didn't know about this show. As you recapped it I was more and more interested in it! in the area of streaming i think a reboot of this show would really work.
I was born and raised in Dallas, and my first and middle initials are J.R. But my parents never watched Dallas for some reason, leaving me to belatedly discover this amazing show that totally captured my kid imagination. I was unreasonably excited to see the new episodes on Friday nights, until they just stopped showing up. I was gutted to learn it was gone and not coming back. For years I would tell people about it, but nobody I ever mentioned it to had ever seen it.
thank you for covering this. i'm crying. i love this show to this day! i was a kid back then and wanted to be just like gloria. had a huge crush on Bman.. gosh i can't believe you covered this show. no one i ever met knows about this show and i really began wondering if anyone but me and my mom even watched it. i wish it ran longer, but i am thankful for it existing in the first place.
i would love to have the shirts and jackets they wore in the show. real merchandise would be awesome!
does anyone else think evan peters looks like johnny? maybe we should start a petition for a reboot lol
I loved this show!
I thought I was the only one who remembered it!
Yes! I remember watching the pilot for this show back in the 80s, and I’ve been trying to find out what it was called! Thanks for this video! 🤗
Loved this show. I think about it every time the Universal Studios tour tram went through the avalanche tunnel (Beef froze a spillway or tunnel or something so the Misfits could escape.
I'll never forget my first year at Washington Junior High School (7th grade) and coming home from school every day to watch this on TV, Man, I'll be 51 in 5 days...and I really miss the 80s.............\m/
5:40 I just wanted to comment on the fact that El shrunk and stepped out of the pile of clothes left behind... wearing the same clothes :D
He could have at least been shirtless with Hulk shorts
Actually, Billy gave him doll clothes that were just kind of similar in the scene. It was just cut short in the summary of characters.
I remember one episode when the doll clothes his friend was carrying were an Michael Jackson '80's costume, complete with red zipper-laden jacket and one sparkly glove.
@@CJ-ef4tg yeeeesssss i remember that tooo
This was one of my favorite shows at the time. It was more or less lost to the mists of time. No one remembers it beyond the basic Courtney Cox trivia. Thanks for this validation of my childhood memories. Misfits of Science NEEDS a reboot!!! (this and Greatest American Hero...)
I really liked "Misfits of Science" and I was part of that niche audience!
I loved this show so much! I wanted all their powers. I loved the music, I loved all the characters and the stylistics of the show had finesse and charm. I was crushed when it was cancelled.
I loved this show. Hows about Airwolf, Sledgehammer, or Wizards and Warriors next?
As a kid in the 80s we didn't watch Dallas so my parents showed us these on the main TV of two in the house. I remember us all enjoying these shows like Misfits of Science, Street Hawk and Voyagers, etc. It shows cheesiness but could totally work today. So many involved were on their way but were struck with such tragedy. RIP Misfits. 😇
I wasn’t born til the late 80s but still I’ve heard of most 80s series and watched a lot of them. Cannot believe I have never heard about this. Sounds like a neat concept. I could totally see it making a comeback if it was done correctly today
I think the remake would be called "Alpha's"... which also got the axe before its time.
Among my favorite shows! I love you did this one!
Thought I was one of only three people who watched this show. Cool seeing Courteney Cox before she became a "friend"
Also He-man.
God i was soooo in love with her in that show :D
RSProduxx She was gorgeous! I was a huge fan of the show, too.
My clearest memory of her on the show is telekinetically suspending two jerks over the griddle at her "Burger Barn" job when they gave tainted meat to seniors as a joke.
Me too, thought I was the only one that liked this show.
I’m so happy I ran into this!! Not long ago I was desperately trying to remember the name of this show. I LOVED this show as a child. I was so sad that it didn’t come back the next season. It was great reliving my childhood through this. Thanks for the video!
I love how you're covering all these shows. My favourite shows in the '80s were cancelled quickly due to being too niche: Misfits of Science (TV version of X-Men + Ghostbusters), Whiz Kids (TV version of War Games), Highwayman (TV version of Mad Max, sorta)...
The music for the opening "history of" segments makes me so happy, every single time!
This show was wonderful! More character growth in one season than some shows have for their entire run!
Ohhh!! I asked for this video in either the manimal or automan video. U are the absolute greatest channel and host EVER!! This was my show as a youngin'. Thank you. Didn't realize this came after Ghostbusters.
Loved the rockin' opening theme song. Cool show for its time.
Thanks Dan been trying to remember the name of this show for years
In Ireland it was known as... Misfits of science.
@@Norvik_-ug3ge absolutely was shown on RTE. I've no idea if it was on ITV. BBC was ( and still is, I think) very limited in what non-british shows it was even allowed to broadcast
Darn Ireland and their incomprehensible show titles!
@@Norvik_-ug3ge Weirdly the BBC operates under a Royal Charter, completely unlike any other TV producer. It has to show British programs, made in Britain as Britishly as possible. The Charter is reviewed every 10 years, usually with some changes. Previous versions of the charter completely banned it from playing commercially produced series.
@@Norvik_-ug3ge I'm no expert, I'm basically making it up as I go.!
How do you pronounce that?
🤔
I loved this show as a kid and was crushed when it was cancelled. I even got my mom's help to write a letter to NBC, begging them to bring it back.
Yes, yes,yes. Thanks!
Watched it when it first aired and loved it, still do. Too bad so many of the cast have passed on, but this might be one of the few shows I'd enjoy seeing rebooted, if done with the same attitude. Great review and long live the 80s.
"Why he's got more juice in him than OJ Simpson!"
Oh goddddd RichEvans.jpg
excessmaterial At least it wasn’t “more magic than Magic Johnson”!
Rich Evans PBUH
This is the episode I've been waiting for!
That's a lot of deaths from one show! Kinda sad actually.
Approaching Babylon 5 levels of cast death :-(
I loved this show as a kid. Awesome to see it getting some coverage! This channel rocks!
This show aired when I was 12 and I remember watching it when my mom wasn’t watching Dallas. Consequently I only saw a few episodes, but I thought Johnny B was the coolest, and my 12 year old mind wondered why he needed the rest of the team as it seemed like he could do anything. Not realizing at the time that not all problems could be solved with lightning bolts and super speed.
"... not all problems could be solved with lightning bolts and super speed.
"
Blasphemy!
This show was the Shhiiiiiiiiiiit!!!! I loved when Johnny was charging himself up on some power thing and blasting the military. Awesome intro song too 👍👊✊
I remember that. He was singing Johnny B Good while blasting them
@@joeparrigen4982 yeah man!! As a kid that scene was badass 👊👍👌
I remember the show me and my cousin would argue who was the guy that shot the bolts from his hands
I am SO glad you got around to this series! They used to show Misfits of Science in my country on channel RPN-9.
I always considered Alphas as the spiritual successor to Misfits. WE had two tvs back then, but I didnt control either. I could only watch, when Dallas was a rerun.
I remember watching this show when I was a kid. I couldn’t never remember the name of this show. Thank you so much for doing a video on it. Every time I was try to describe this show nobody knew what I was talking about
Please cover "V". I'd love to know about the small release of toys they made to do with the series as I've never seen any in the wild.
@@brainlock72 nah, that was Michael Ironsides. Beef played his side kick though!
i always made sure i was home for Knight Rider, then Misfits of Science right behind it on Friday nights on NBC
Holy crap, I was just yesterday watching through the series. It was the perfect blend of cheesiness and greatness, especially the covers of popular songs that they used. And that THEME music, holy shit was that something truly special. Also, I need more super strong Ray Walston in my life.
Loved this show as a kid. Haven't thought about it in ages!
I remember when Friends first came on and thinking that's the woman from Misfits of Science!
And Ferris Bueller's sister from that awful show, Jennifer Aniston. You've got to be on some awful stuff before you hit it big, most of the time.
Surely you knew her from the Springsteen video too?
@@RyanMichero That was 1984. MTV wasn't available in a lot of bigger cities because the cable fights were brutal there. I'm already sick of it as I watch too much of MTV Classic.
@@scottsmartky don't forget, she was also from "Leprechaun", starring Warwick Davis. And she was a NutriSystem spokesmodel, who subsequently found herself on the Howard Stern show in her early days.
You are my HERO Dan! I loved this series in 7th Grade! Thank You, Thank You!
Perhaps a reboot where Courtney Cox's character is now the leader of a new team of Misfits?
She would have to be desperate because she has publicly stated that she hates the show. Interviewers aren't even allowed to ask her about it.
Whoooooa
I loooooooved this show as a child yet had completely forgotten about it.
Thanks for this hit of nostalgia as well as the info!
Their logo was He-Man's font (at least in that commercial). Courteney Cox was in the He-Man movie.
Nice! I was looking for someone to point this out.
Thank you for covering all these old kooky shows from my childhood that I completely forgot about. Soon as I saw this it brought back memories!
New vid !! Sweet !!
I loved this show! Grew up loving this every Friday. So glad we had 2 TVs in the house.
I remember when tartakov. Passed almost every show he had a hand in mourning him and his cameos were funny
Omg i love this channel. Its brought back child memories of all my favorite cartoon shows. From 1983 to 1995 were the best years for cartoons. From 1983 to 1990 were the best but I added the extra 5 years because of the marvel and dc comincs
