really great review of the mighty lite bt i just got mine i bought it mostly for its portability and the drum machine to use to practice my originals and stay in temple although i'm not impressed by the amps drum sounds, the metronome is quite sufficient, the option to use their app to hook up to their jam tracks or u tube or to play back my original via the bt is a great extra learning tool for this little practice amp one again great tutorial peace out
That sounds great! Not sure if it's more of an advertisement for the awesome Shure mic tho ;) But for that money and considering the fact, that you can also use it as a Bluetooth speaker that amp is really nicd
Thanks! My friend runs a studio and he recommended SM7b to me as a great do-it-all mic, which it definitely is. It's not cheap but it can do vocals, guitars, guitar amps, snare etc. And I agree, for the money the amp is really good!
Just tried out this amp in the shop and I was impressed with the sound. It's not just that it sounds good, but that it is really easy to dial in good tones on all three channels, regardless of which pickup configuration I was using. I didn't know you could also get modulation effects using the app. That kind of seals the deal for me. The only thing that disappointed me was that it fell a bit flat when used as a bluetooth speaker. Not downright awful, but I was hoping for better. Kinda heavy in the low-mids, lacking punch in the upper register. Well, one amp can't do everything. But it will get me by until I have the money to buy real speakers for my computer. And powering it with the same cord I use to charge my phone? Amazing. And that adds to the portability, because I don't have to pack an extra cable when making a trip. Compare that to the proprietary Roland and Blackstar cables that cost $20-$30. I really want to like the Blackstar Fly 3, and I even think it sounds slightly better, but the additional features and convenience of the NUX might push it over the top for me.
Hey, did you get the chance to play a different audio file, like even a youtube music video and play at the same time? I'm wondering if this is possible?? Or are you stuck playing the jam tracks that are on the app?
Thanks for a great comment! There's actually an new version of this amp coming out very soon called Mighty Lite Air. Kind of the same thing but it's a dual speaker amp with rechargeable battery and a wireless plug that you put into your guitar and you can play wirelessly. I had a lot of fun playing that thing today and I think it's a significant improvement over this model (I have a unit for demo). Even tried is a bluetooth speaker and was positively surprised. It might not be one of those JBL tubes but it sounded good. My guess is that this thing will be a bit pricier but based on my first few days with it it's definitely worth it.
Hey Brendon, just saw your comment. The answer is yes, you can stream stuff via Bluetooth and also play. At least on my iPhone the way you do it is to connect to the ‘streaming’ part of the amp by going to phone’s Bluetooth settings and connect to the amp from there. Then from the Nux app you connect to the amp side of things. I did thins exact thing today with the Nux Mighty Lite Air.
I went out and bought the Nu-x. The extra effects and convenience of using common power supplies sold me. I just want to clarify for everyone that when running off your android charger, you won't get as much volume out of the amp. Makes sense since my android charger is only 4.5V, not 9V. Still loud enough for practice, but you can't get the high gain tones. Some crunchy breakup, but that's it. Still, it is a great feature to help you travel light. And I think the bluetooth music playback is a little better than I reported. I compared it to a Roland Cube Lite and honestly the Nu-x sounded way better (both as an amp and for music playback), despite not being stereo and not having a bass port. The amp performance is not a surprise given the Roland is 7-8 years old now, but the music playback surprised me, since I always assumed based on appearance that the Roland Cube Lite was meant to be a pretty good computer speaker. Oh, and I checked out the projected price on the Nu-x Mighty Air, which will have a lot more effects, wireless guitar hookup, and stereo playback, but at $250 it will be more than I am looking to pay right now. The Mighty Lite comes in under $100. Amazing!
Yup. "Thresold" is a typo. It's as you said, "threshold" with an "H". :) It's forgivable though. Nux seems to have gotten most things right and at the price point it's a no-brainer. Just the jam tracks portion is well worth the money. Great review, as always. I really appreciate the humble honesty of the part where you play the wrong notes. Keeping that while retaking thrice because the screen capture of your iPhone lagged says a lot. Weighing in the general quality of your videos and your obvious skills as a musician, it amounts to something quite unique in the youtuber community. You never see "the big ones" do that unless it's a blooper reel or such. So, again, a big thumbs up! :D One thing I'm always missing in reviews of modeling amps, though, no matter who does them, is dynamic range (does it clean up if I roll off on the volume?) and how they handle pedals. Admittedly, I might not be the typical buyer, but I could imagine sticking one of these things at the end of my pedalboard for a totally portable "bedroom practice rig" and maybe even as a monitor for band practice and small gigs. Thing is, I've only tried a couple of similar amps so far one broke up with ugly digital clipping as soon as I hit the front of it with anything other than the guitar itself but the other one behaved more like an analog amp. There is obviously more than one way to roll a taco, so to say. So, if you could find the time to include just a small part about those things in future reviews you would make this old swede really happy and it would probably make you stand out from the rest of the YT'er crowd even more that you already do, which might be a win win. :) Kind regards!
Thanks Patrik, you had some really great feedback there. Appreciate it! I think your suggestion about dynamic range is great. I sometimes include that but I also forget to say anything about it too many times. I’ll try to have that stuff in from now on!
Thank you for your very good video. Awesome toy. It can be very easily opened wit a screwdriver to make tweaks. The basic a non-invasive tweak that I made right away was to damp the vibrations of the box with blue-tack, in order to decrease its plastic timbre. The second will be to replace the loudspeaker with a better one. P.S. The company NUX states that its correct pronunciation is "new X".
Thanks for a great comment, I did think there had to be an easy way to damp the vibrations. Didn't think blue tack would be enough. And I guess I need to start calling then "New X" just to stop people from commenting on that all the time... :D
I didn't, not sure how good it would sound since it always has amp modelling on. I might work great on the clean channel, but unfortunately I don't have the amp anymore so I can't test that.

Hey J.R. when do you think you'll be traded from the Cavs? Sorry for the NBA joke. To answer your question I have to say that I don't know. Haven't tried the Blackstar Fly series at all. I'd imagine both sound just fine for practice purposes.

There are no backing tracks on the amp itself, you play them from your phone. Whatever you can play on your phone through iTunes, Spotify and any other music app, you can have those sounds come out of the amp as well via bluetooth.
