- We had a chance to test drive hyundai ioniq hybrid 2020. It’s a facelift version that has new exterior and interior design updates. Hyundai claims new ioniq can travel up to 1,000km (620miles) with a full tank. That is quite impressive. Now let’s meet the new guy!
1.6L gasoline: 105hp@5,700rpm
32kW motor: 43.5hp
Total System: 141hp
6-speed DCT

competition: Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt, Ford C-max
Love how calm you are when talking but drive like a hooligan. 😂

I’m Canadian but this guy is my favourite. Love the accent, love the ‘new guy’ in reference to the car.
Thank you James tuning in and watching our Hyundai Ioniq hybrid test drive. Happy New Year! And we will keep it coming!
I feel like #Hyundai keeps making better looking cars for their line up 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
But messed up big time with the new Elantra design 🤦♂️
Glad you like it Jorge.
For real
@@AsianPetrolhead Please do test drive 2019 Kia Optima & Optima Hybrid and 2020 Kia Niro PHEV. Thanx.
I hate hate hate when manufacturers go all touch controls, forces you to look at the buttons when a dial and physical ones are easier to operate.
I don't even like the gear selector dial on these new cars.
@@barneystn7521 the gear selector don't bother me if the saved space is used properly.
Yes, agree!
Completely agree. It's the reason I hate the integration of touch screen controls. You HAVE to take your eyes off the road to use them. Give me physical buttons any day.
Ha! Like having an old phone with keyboard buttons aka a flip-phone.
My husband and I ordered the 2020 Hyundai ionic battery car last week. No complaints about Hyundai motor cars as our last 4 have been this make. Very reliable and roomy.
Thank you Bronwyn for tuning in glad you like Hyundai. Please do support us by subscribing to our channel.
Have you already been able to order the Electric variant? When will delivery be? And what price where you told?
@@shaddowminer we have been told approx costing to 56000 for the premuim and it will be delivered around Feburary 2020

Welcome, glad i can be a help. Thank you for enjoying the Hyundai IONIQ review!
I’m planing to buy a used 2020
too, can you give me some feedbacks after 6 months please?
Finally, someone who really drives this car... we have just ordered one and cannot wait
Thank you for enjoying the Hyundai IONIQ hybrid review!
Great, got the 2018 and I am very satisfied! The handling is very well and I have 4.2 l / 100km.
Thank you Alex for tuning in and please do support us by subscribing, thank you.
me too 4,3L/100km
Dude your drive by shots always remind me of the old 60's Batmobile screaming toward the bat cave. 😂
You make no sense please stop being a child and grow up
@@Yondaily that's not an insult, and if you don't understand what I'm talking about, ask your grandma.
^^ thanks Peter.
Peter That’s it!! I always love the quick drive by shots and couldn’t remember what they reminded me of....now I remember. :)
Hahaha...I wonder if he sped them up too. Remember, they were sped up to make it seem like the Batmobile went faster with that, supposedly, jet engine shooting out flames from the back.
Diamond grill is vey nice! ANYTHING that ioniq shares with Genesis is fantastic! GREAT CARS!!!
Thank you Curtis.
Best and most complete review of the Ioniq I've found on RUclips. Agree about the touch controls as well, not sure about them but I'm pretty sure I can live with it. Top of my list for my next car in 2020 :)
Thank you Martin for tuning in. Glad you like our reviews. Thank you. And please do support us by subscribing. Thank you.
@@AsianPetrolhead Definitely, subscribed already. Big fan of Asian cars and - in my youth - motorbikes. It's between the Niro and the Ioniq for my next car as sick of Nissan Qashqais and diesel especially. Want something that is economical, eco friendly, packed with tech (gadget head) and fun to drive. Think the Premium SE with leather front seats, a nice metallic paint job and all the extras is the one for me. And to think, there was once a time when Korean cars were not taken seriously, and now they get the value/performance balance perfect. Much better than Toyota and all the Japanese car makers even.
Good and detailed review. Gonna buy mine tomorrow, which I actually mean literally!
@@StanLibuda23 how is it?
@@TopBoi93 it's great! Very comfortable and efficient. I managed to get 3.6L/100 in urban traffic and 3.9L/100 on the highway at around 110 km/h.
Is that guy on the run? He was driving like he stole it...
Borrowed it. thank you Andreas
this is the getaway car for a high tech robbery when you want a quiet escape!

Good review Charlie! I totally agree with you about the lack of physical buttons. I won't even look at the new Audi models because they have no buttons. Until we have fully autonomous cars, I think we need buttons.
Thank yo John.
What a lovely review. 👍🤗😘
I have watched a few reviews and yours is clearly upper class. From switching on the headlamps to honking, and revealing the reason for naming this automobile, Ioniq. From driving crazy to showing braking ability. You showcased almost every aspect of my dream car. Thank you very much.😘
I have been fortunate to own a white 2020 Ioniq Hybrid for the past 3 weeks. And I am loving every minute behind the wheel. And beating the famed Toyota Prius at its own game(record mpg), has brought me to love my Snowwhite. I noticed a range of 1030km on a full tank. Awesome!
For the record, recently I reluctantly parted ways with my 5yo Hyundai Elantra at the dealership.😭
Thank you, Asian Petrolhead, for an outstanding review. I have subscribed.😊

Love your reviews. Came across this channel last week and I am sold. Very clear and practical review.
Thank you Carla
Really well done refresh on this 2020 Ioniq Hybrid!...Hyundai IMO, has the best formula for ALT' POWERED VEHICLE'S, with the mix of hybrid, plug-in hybrid ,& hydrogen fuel cell with the Nexo!
Thank you Tucson!
Looking at cars right now and your video came up. Really great review! Loved your thoroughness and camera angles in the review. Highway speed surprised me most. Rear view being second. Thanks much!!
Thank you for enjoying the Hyundai IONIQ review.
I got car sick watching those turns! If that car can handle that kind of driving without launching itself into a ditch, it handles great. :) Love the review though. I'm going to be bringing home my 2020 Ioniq in two days. I can't wait!

It looks nice. Hyundai/ Kia is doing great things these days. It's amazing for a being a such a young company there products and quality is so much better than Ford/ Gm, companies that have been around for over a hundred years.
Thanks B B. I know Hyundai and Kia seems to be working hard lately.
I have, in the past, worked with Korean business and manufacturing reps... they were always very polite, respectful, and conscientious about the products that they were selling, which gives me a lot of confidence in buying a car from Hyundai
Hyundai will become no 1 brand in the world.
Big complement
It's True
Another great review. It looks much better than previous year as well as the current Elantra. I especially love the headlights and DRL. Reminds me of Peugeot. The rear is a bit plain. I'd love to see this face and Elantra rear.
Also, I just figured why I love your review. Other than the nice Korean street scene, you are the fastest journalist when testing those vehicles. I love to know the extreme handling of my car so I know its limit and being able to avoid danger. Keep up the good work.
Yes, so we do the handling part after getting to know the car.
I love the front design
I love the grill
Yes, small but good changes.
I have it! It is a great car I wish I could close/open the trunk electric!
Woah! Looks like he just drove this ioniq across and around his country! God, I need this sportly eco friendly car! Especially the way he droved it! 😄

This is what the new Elantra front-end should've look like!
I fully agree.
Elantra becomes more and more pathetic since 2015. Last pleasant model was MD.
This is awesome, I love it. Can't wait to buy one.
Yes, it's nice. change.
I dont understand why manufacturers are moving away from physical buttons. It makes more sense to have quality tactile response especially while paying attention to driving... is it because of tesla?
not sure, maybe its for the design.
9:48 "You don't drive this car for speed. You drive this car for efficiency." I find that statement to be so ironic coming from you 😂😂
Anyway, thank you very much for the review. Waiting for the Sonata Hybrid next 😁
^^
Better looking car than Prius in ten thousand times.
Just subscribed! You guys should do a series on KDMs or cars you can only get in Korea. I would love to see KIA's Korean Light Tactical Vehicle to start off the series and expand to talking about the history of the Korean car industry by examining old car such as Hyundai Pony, Retona, Galloper, and the ill-fated Spirra, Korea's first "supercar" to name just a few.
Thank you for subscribing! It means a lot to us.
You can trust your car to this guy.
Thank you Noorullah for trusting me. And enjoying the Hyundai IONIQ review.
Wish you give more depth about the option feature Green Zone???.
I miss the live steam....
Yes, i wish we had more time to show you the Green zone.
That's something new, the tooting of the horn. It's a nice addition.
Yes, toothing. LOL
I've learned about the name of the car because of you !
May I suggest Asian Petrolhead to introduce long term reviews of different Korean rides in future? As to judge the reliability and maintenance of engine (e.g. Carbon build up for GDi, etc), gearbox (e.g. Dual clutches, etc), interior parts and build, to show how the rides stand the test of time. Thank you.
Yes, we are working on it. I think we will be getting a Palisade as a long term. for the first time. thanks Ian.
1. Thanks for the video
2. You are tall AF!
3. I would like to see the All EV version please.
I know you have a lot on your plate but the EV is what I am looking for.
Thanks.
Thank you William, yes i will try to book EV one. Thanks for tuning in and please do support us by subscribing! thanks
i also look forward to the EV version :)
I really agree on your opinion of having physical buttons where they switched to touch sensitive buttons here. Having the physical feedback from actual buttons is just not the same with touch sensitive. 10:57 Careful there! :)
Thank you Steven we will be careful.
I like the overall styling inside and out but what I don't like are those plastic hub caps ? They really cheapen the looks of the car.
I like the look of the front fascia as well as the rear of the New Ionic, it’s an improvement over the old one. Although I wish it would come with a spare tire. The inflator kit will actually damage the interior of the tire, including the pressure monitor. If I were to choose a hybrid I would only consider the Ioniq. The Prius looks like it tries too hard to look hyper modern but it results looking over-designed, plus it doesn’t come with either Apple Car Play or Android Auto like Hyundai.
Prius hybrid battery warranty expires @ 150K whereas Ioniq has a lifetime warranty!!
you don’t need a spare when you have complementary roadside assistance
@@frailmachinemeen4288 Thats great if youre near a city but what happens if youre on a roadtrip in the middle of nowhere or you just live in the country? Youd be fucked for hours! I dont want to put all my eggs into one basket like that. I put my reliance into myself 1st and foremost, I learned long ago trust in others is fragile at best.
Finally someone talking about the paddle shifter and their modes - nobody else showed them... i tried to find some info about it for weeks😭
Glad I can be helpful. Thank you T3Cabon.

How do you enable both DLRs (the bottom and the upper ones in the headlights) ? In other videos online i only see the bottom ones turned on.
Maybe it's only for the Korean spec model, I just turned on the DRL and both turned on. Thank you for enjoying the Hyundai IONIQ hybrid review.
Nice Test, greetings from Germany
Thank you M C
Hi! I just started looking into these('22-'23s). You look VERY much taller than the car. How easy is it for you to get in+out? I'm older, have a bad back, have a Mazda3, which is a pain in the neck to get in+ out.
The center console with touch bottons makes it look so cheap compared to the old.
The interior of the original Ioniq was one reason I would not buy it. This new grille and interior will make more buyers choose this as their new ride.
It looks a lot better front, back, and inside. Korea rules the auto industry!
Glad you like it Chris. thank you.
I like it. It reminds me of the old Saab 9000

Well, it is still much better than competition, so take a look for a test drive. thanks Kurt.
Agreed. I prefer the physical buttons and integrated screen of the older model
@@mra682 If you actually don't go for the top trim then a lot of these buttons are physical.
And how long does the circulator option stay on?

I have the 2019 Ioniq Blue model, I definitely prefer buttons and knobs.
I like it, but for just me...so if I needed more room or were to be transporting others, I would get a Soul hybrid, even if not...so we need to get back to the boxy cars for compact roominess.
yes, how about Niro.
@@AsianPetrolhead the Niro EV is a top choice, but the styling isn't up to my liking, yet, I believe it will soon get a great restyle.

This model doesn't have any room or provision for a small spare tire, only a foam canister. I would be interested in this vehicle but not having a spare tire is a deal breaker for me. Can the storage area be rigged to place a donut tire in the lower area of the trunk?
Well i am not sure when you are watching from but Hyundai and Kia does offer spare tires depending countries especially US and North American markets. Thanks.
Pretty much, all cars with tire repair kits are placed in a foam tray that covers the usual spot where a spare tire goes. Simply remove the foam tray and it will reveal the space where the spare tire is screwed into place. I have to assume, they do this to reduce the weight of the vehicle. The spare donuts are not too expensive.
is there any rpm indicator for this model...?
Thank you for the comprehensive review, Charlie. Nice refresh for the Hyundai Ioniq which truly is a fascinating car. Per mentioned at 6:05, I say that touch sensor buttons are ergonomically hazardous & distracting for the driver to activate; kind of like cellphone texting to request climate control changes or windshield defogging. Oh well, otherwise it still appears to be a fine car.
Yes, John. I like the physical buttons the way they are now. Don't need to change good things. i think.
