Well yah it’s in the name, the Gundam is the frame itself, the Armor is just Armor, a gundam could have graze Armor and it would still be a gundam, the frame is what makes it a gundam, if a graze frame had gundam Armor it would still be just a graze with flashy Armor
I really like the whole RG duel colour scheme they had going with this kit. I wasn't expecting it at all when I ordered the kit and was pleasantly surprised while I was building it. I hope its something we can expect to see in the S2 line as well.
Though it isn't explicitly stated, I like to think that the Kimaris Trooper is the ground type version designed to operate under gravity -hence the giant vertical thruster rear skirt. The standard Kimaris being designed to operate in space ideally.
Worth mentioning that this kit takes up A LOT of shelf space. Especially if you intend to have it in trooper mode. Seriously, that lance is absurdly long. Its about as tall as my MG Unicorn in destroy mode!
MrFlunkorg can I please tell me how tall this kit is? from the bottom to the head(not including the head crest) I wanna know because I'm going to buy this soon and I haven't found any info about it ;)
Little fun fact: The mechanical designer of the kimaris trooper released a drawing of the kimaris with its chest reactors activated and showed what they did. They are actually energy nukes that can devastate a battlefield. It releases all the energy from its ahab reactors basically nuking anything in front of it while simultaneously cooling the machine down. Heres the pic i.4cdn.org/m/1474569433376.jpg
Coming here 6 years later to report; Turns out this assertion is wrong. The “multi-slot accelerators” in the Kimaris Trooper’s chest are just compression cooling vents. If you’re looking for “nukes” (lol)/high-yield explosives, *_mines_* are stored within the Kimaris Trooper’s back-skirt armor.
4 month old update! got the kit yesterday, you can snap the left claw on the shield at the part where it plugs onto the arm. It allows the K. Trooper to dual wield the lance and meat cleaver/sword
Got it for 37.00. It looks good overall; but the bottom vents in the chest are actually painful to try to get in there, the lance is hard to pose as the sub arm is too stiff straight out of the box, the pieces are placed on the runners oddly and it makes it hard to cut the nubs without cutting yourself or gouging, and I had a problem with some of the sandwich inner frame pieces not wanting to stay together when the peg was placed for the shoulder or knee. I agree that the back skirt is the worst part, it feels cheap and I am afraid I'm going to break it at some point. For less than 40 I think it's a good deal and most of its problems can be fixed with a little extra work and some painting, but I wouldn't pay more than 50 for it unless Kimaris is one of your favorites. At least it's better than the HG.
From the NoGrades I own the Schwalbe, the Graze Standard, Barbatos IV, Grimgerde and now the Kimaris Trooper. Grimgerde is pretty much Number #1, due to being a flawless affordable kit; but the Kimaris Trooper is on a very close second place. Details are very nice and the joints are very, very stable (close to being stiff). Though one point of criticism goes to to hatches in the chest which are very loose and tend to fall out or into the chest piece once you try to manipulate them. :( But beyond that it's a very cool model, which was a joy to build. :D And that Destroyer-Lance is HUGE!
So, the second sub-arm for the shield, it's maybe not great for gunpla uses, but in-series you'd use it to hide the saber in the left hand during a charge with the lance. Charge right in, firing volleys from the cannons, orient yourself so the enemy''ll be on your left, block whatever they throw at you, and immediately counter with the blade after they've committed to their attack. Really hoping the Kimaris makes a comeback in S2, the design is just too good. And hopefully not as that ugly rapier thing Bandai's been promoting.
When the Kimaris Trooper rescues the Graze Ritter, the shield is held by the sub-arm and the Ritter is held under the arm. That is probably my favorite scene in the series next to the final fight.
From the design and colors, this looks like a hybrid between the Gyan and the Qubeley (with the Gyan design being far more dominant). ....................Le Ding indeed
hey zack did you see the info on the new inner frames for the ibo 1/100 kits? Apparently the will be more articulated as well as more detailed. price went up 1000 ¥
I prefer this over the booster type Kimaris, I might get this in the future and its really hard to resist most of the 1/100 IBO line. I might start with this and then the two Barbatos kits.
Hmmm I wonder what it would look like with a Hi-Nu color scheme. Looks good I really liked the Tropper as opposed to the original. Can't wait to get mine!
@@kashmerlangston545 If we ever get the others, they'll be an instant buy for me. But I'm having some doubts any will come out besides the main protagonist casts suits like Flauros and Gusion rebake...
I think it is weird that Mindfenix's stocks at their website are not as updated as the kits they provide you. :/ Last time I checked, they don't even have this kit at their website.
Combination of bad economy in Japan and being unsure if the design will sell at all. With no grades and RE 1/100s it's usually a mix of both but cheaper for both sides.
My No grade 00 raiser looks similar to the MG 00 raiser so if they do made MG of these kits i think it'll looks the same and it'll be a waste of plastic
I believe this was just used because the regular Kimaris was not able to capitalize with its leg boosters and mobility under gravity, so this is just a different setup specifically for land battles. Of course, they should have probably had that mentioned, even in a throwaway sentence. Either way, yeah, his family had this alternate armor already, this is an heirloom, the mobile suit.
YEP but the overall design even the head was changed too. Almost like it got destroyed and rebuild. Haha. Its like how gundam in 00 changed from season 1 to season 2 but that one is totally different gundam tho. If you know what i mean.
That's nothing, my MG Sinanju ver Ka. That I dropped 100$ US on, the waist connection twisted off when simply trying to remove it. I have no idea how to repair it while salvaging some mobility.
Well yah it’s in the name, the Gundam is the frame itself, the Armor is just Armor, a gundam could have graze Armor and it would still be a gundam, the frame is what makes it a gundam, if a graze frame had gundam Armor it would still be just a graze with flashy Armor
I wonder if you could somehow kitbash the sub-arms of this kit onto the Barbatos Lupus Rex, so it can actually hold up that damn mace.
This is probably one of my favorite designs that has come out of ibo, I'll be getting this, and once again, thanks for the review
Leroy Tan you're welcome! Yeah, I don't care so much for the trooper-mode, but the Gundam design is nice!
All the time you're showing the accessories the Kimaris is hitting that dab.
hehe ;)

i love the design of the kimaris trooper, i have the HG but im thinking i should get the 1/100 as well. great review as always!

Yeah,it is a ground type. It's stated on the Gundam Wiki.
7:02 Kimaris is doing a dab
Oh hey, this 1/100 version is pretty cool, I'll be getting it fo sure!
Worth mentioning that this kit takes up A LOT of shelf space. Especially if you intend to have it in trooper mode.

About 8 1/2 Ft standing with out the base attached.
Oh, thanks you sooo much, great help ;)

would you have this image full-res or a link to it? I love his work but haven't seen this particular drawing anywhere.

Team purple!
hell yeah!

ZakuAurelius Well I have the regular Kimaris and just got the Kimaris Trooper. Might just get around to building it soon.
team frieza

Im diggin these IBO kits i will get both Kimaris kits soon but paneling in purple

I do want to get this kit but I would really like the 1/100 Kimaris vidar which looks amazing
Is the kimaris backpack compatible with this version?
Did you make it do the DAB? you absolutely madman
lol, what? no~ I wouldn't do that! ;)
+ZakuAurelius nice.
that dab @6:55
;)

5:39 Your kimaris trooper is dabbing
Ah I want this, but Mindfenix only have 1 IBO 1/100 kit available atm :(
Are all the 1/100 IBO kit frames all the same? It seems as if the frame parts that are visible are REALLY similar to the 1/100 Barbotos also.
not exactly the same, there are usually a few parts that are changed. but mostly the same!
Kimaris shoulder armor looks death star. :)
I guest Mika learned how to counter the normal Kimaris
just realize, is that kimaris doing dab?
We need actual MG IBO kits
We got one. Time for the others.
@@kashmerlangston545 If we ever get the others, they'll be an instant buy for me. But I'm having some doubts any will come out besides the main protagonist casts suits like Flauros and Gusion rebake...
@@vx345 FUCK! Ah well.

My physical kits don't come directly from them. They fund me to obtain the kits locally here in Korea, faster and cheaper.
Why did bandai not make them Mastergrades...
they are basically Master-Grades
+ZakuAurelius I thought they were Non grade
Combination of bad economy in Japan and being unsure if the design will sell at all. With no grades and RE 1/100s it's usually a mix of both but cheaper for both sides.

Does it come with that stand??
Yes
@0:40 shhhhhhh you're making people question things that can only be described as............
"To sell Toys"
Where I live this guy and all of the Graze variants are the cheapest which is kinda strange
they rebuilt the Kimaris because Mikazuki figured out how to defend against the original Kimaris' lance.
Jango The Blue Fox no, this kimaris was equipped with armor for ground combat, whereas the other was equipped for space combat
Bit of both really.
If Mika didn't leave the fight, who do you think would've won? Barbatos 6th form or Kimaris Trooper?
The only MS equipped with its very own toilet seat.
Kinda wondering why they went with the Hi-Res Model when they can profit more on an MG (even if only Barbatos was available)
Maybe its a test
To profit more.
I just noticed that Kimaris Trooper's head kinda looks like the head of a halberd.
*Mind Blown*
A true knight until the end...
Damnit zack.... I will NEVER unsee that goofy face in the chest now...
That suit really looks like Squid Adler from Megaman X5.
I'm late but kimaris in demonology is actually a strong demon on a black Horse. FYI
Stephen Tay yo I noticed that to. I just got mine today and I feel that this version of the gundam is far more superior.
I think it just changed forms to be better equipped for earth combat and travel.
yes, but so fast and no mention of it on screen. Just kinda sloppy storytelling.
YEP but the overall design even the head was changed too. Almost like it got destroyed and rebuild. Haha. Its like how gundam in 00 changed from season 1 to season 2 but that one is totally different gundam tho. If you know what i mean.
+ZakuAurelius True
Hmmm...Never ending story? Morla or something...that giant turtle
this ibo 1/100 is totally at the same level as an older mg I build older mg freedom gundam totally the same minus the articulated finger.
ZAKU MY CHESTPLATE FOR MY GUNDAM THE ORIGIN JUST BROKE IN HALF.. FFFFFFUUUU
That's a bummer man. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement to the rescue!
+ZakuAurelius NOPE NOTHING IS WORKIN' NOOOO
That's nothing, my MG Sinanju ver Ka. That I dropped 100$ US on, the waist connection twisted off when simply trying to remove it. I have no idea how to repair it while salvaging some mobility.
Well atleast yours has the whole chest right?
+Rowlet yeah but I effectively have a top and bottom with no way to finish the kit. :( I share the pain.
The left mechanical arm can hold the sword ;)
sure enough!
9:26
my graze and kimaris both fall apart at the waist jouint. I'm not a fan of the ibo line in hg or mg.
MrGrandure add a lil' bit of paint or a few piece of paper on the joints, it helped with mine a lot ;)
the face looks like Sun Wukong haha
The kimarises feel like those hot wheel bad guys with the same colour scheme
His head looks like Squidward
the legs look really thick :/
That's one of the things I love about the 1/100 line compared to their HG counterparts.
For me it's a little bit to thick, but that only my opinion.
