How could anyone thumbs down this video. 37 yrs of Neon Glassblowing. Had bad accident my legs got crushed. But I have a lamp work shop my Scientific glassblower gave me. Love videos. My legs I can’t stand anymore. Happy just to be in the fire 🔥 again learning. Neon glassblowing gave me a great career. It’s weird to me the glass heats up so much different. Neon has a lot of lead in it. Just need air and propane. Can you imagine learning all over again. I thought 💭 I already payed my dues lol. Thx Bry.
Boro brother I’m sorry to hear you had such an extreme life altering accident 😢. I send out serious respect that you went back to the flame anyway and that you worked your way back into the flow and beyond. NEVER STOP! 37 years I can’t even imagine 🤯. I got knocked out of the game from disabilities too but only 8 years in and I have a whole new appreciation and admit I was not the most humble when I got back behind the torch but it forced me to get real humble. I had all my equipment stolen but I have a little bit and it’s just making me learn even more. Definitely hard adjusting to a small torch but the challenge and reward is such a spiritual gift and sacred experience generally already.
Still working on my blowtube connections, they pop off a bunch. I’m getting very good on pulling points so that’s what has been working the best for me so far. Still learning though.
What torch are you using? I’ve just started flame working and love how you can just switch between low flame and big flame! Where did you learn and i would love any tips/advice! I’m working with boro for flame working but use 104? With my college’s actual glass blowing section. This is my first video but am 1000% continuing to watch!!
What was the scribe tool you showed briefly. What size tube will it accommodate? I know you mentioned that the first tubes you showed being fire polished were boro-silicate. Was the larger tube also Borosil? I also wondered about your torch controls. I noted that you had multiple presets for your torch. Interested in doing this with our hydrogen-torch.

Beau, great tutorial - excellent insights, very educative and much appreciated.
Really great tutorial! You've got steady hands! One question for you or anyone. Why do you put that layer of carbon onto them towards the end??
