Small tip from me: I noticed that this soeaker lacks bass if you set Speaker Volume to maximum and you change volume on your phone. It is different when you set your phone to max volume and you change volume via the speaker. Then low frequencies are clearly audible even when the speaker plays quietly.

Alan, Tribit states that the updated version of the storm box pro can now be used with the tribit app. Witch means you can adjust the equalizer. Have you tried that yet?

I've gone through quite a few Bluetooth speakers, and I will say of its size: nothing beats the lower-end bass of the Stormbox Pro. It's got that nice deep rumble. The only thing I don't like are the sound of some beats which don't have smooth "thump", but more of a tight "pop" of that makes any sense. Other than that, I'm extremely happy with it and considering buying another.
my stormbox pro has no low end rumble, its appalling to be quite honest. to say nothing beats its low end for its size would have to mean yours sounds nothing like mine.

Update: I have owned the Soundcore Motion+ for 2 years. It WAS the speaker to beat. The Dreamwave Rockstar Mini is ALMOST perfect in design and volume, but lack of aptX makes the audio stumble on RARE occasion (usually on initial connect); however, it produces the best sound I've ever heard from any small Bluetooth speaker hands down to the point where I'll be buying a second unit. I've owned DOZENS of Bluetooth speakers dating back to the Jabra Solemate, and yes, even the much lauded Minirig 3 can't compete. Honestly, the Rockstar Mini doesn't even need aptX, and man would I love a teardown to see how they do the audio processing so well. The Tribit Stormbox Pro, it didn't make it 24 hours in my house. Same identical conclusion as you.
I have been wondering what he was referring to in the videos on the tribit pro, I then realised my phone has an eq set for my earbuds, this must be applying it to the tribit to, the sound on mine is great. Ok the windows don't vibrate but for the size of it the bass is pretty good, better than flip 5, Bose, marshal, lg that I listened to in Curry's.
haha told you they messed up the tuning this time ... no dsp fault going on here ... I saw a teardown of the pro where the rads and bass drivers were moving reasonably ... so yeah I was sure about that ... but anyway the small bass driver was quite beefy 24 watt sub hahaha ( my 20 watt old sony tv sub can handle 35 hz just fine ) ... I think it could have gone in a different direction like the motion boom ... but damn deep bass isn't present on the pro ... I liked the design of this ... there is a big round bump in the mids so mids good or sounds off in the pro ...?

I watch many channels but you and Oluv have been the only ones I trust when buying a new speaker. I think I'll be able to add Snow Queen's Tech to that short list as well on future purchases. No doubt Oluv is honest but I much prefer your reviews. Personality, style, and detail. Your the total package and I hope you continue reviewing for a long, long time.
I do watch flossy sometimes for the entertainment value but I'm not going to make a purchase decision based on his recommendation. I like to watch Antwan Richardson as well (aka Just doin life). He's pretty funny too and seems like a really likeable guy but he will say up front he's not a spec guy. But, like I said, I think you're the best of all worlds.

Hey Alan, I'm strongly considering buying a pair of boosts at some point (probably the next time there's a sale). I'm also considering the charge 5. I know the boosts are obviously better value even before any sale but, regardless of price, which would you rather listen to? 2 boosts or 1 charge 5?
when we look at size, anker motion plus still is the best. Unfortunately, the tribit has gone downhill and I do not know if it will bounce back, because the Anker products are starting to outgrow the competition. An additional advantage of the anker is precisely the application that allows you to create your own favorite speaker tone and improve it yourself. Tribit not enough that he made the worst their playing speaker probably in history, there is no way to improve it yet.

The only true budget 2.1 portable bluetooth speaker I know of that has true active deep bass woofer is the old Doss Soundbox XL. Hope you can review it and compare to newer models with deep bass.

I know this speaker is amid heavy nightmare but it's currently on sale and it's one of the only few speakers which has a big ass Loop and aptx. I'm hoping I can EQ it well enough. Honestly, I just want ADAM to come out with a portable speaker. Gimme dat AMT.

It is obviously trying to mimic the form factor. Any chance you can compare the two and see. I actually chose to get the StormBox Pro over the Motion Boom. For 2 reasons. 1st being the form factor. I’m not a fan of the Boom aesthetically. Also, I wanted a speaker that was multidirectional and loud so I could bring on picnics and/or the beach. 2nd reason was the price. I was able to cop the SBP for $70, which I thought was good deal. With all that said I was slightly disappointed with the sound coming SBP. First Tribit speaker to do that and I have all their speakers. I guess I should’ve copped the Motion Boom after all 😕
Confused between stormbox pro and maxsound plus. Price isn’t an issue but I’d surely like bang for a buck! My use case would be mostly indoors, maybe 2 house parties a year. Only use outdoors would be new year’s at my terrace with a gathering of 20 odd people. I’d like to hear good sound, please suggest! Getting maxsound plus at 52 USD, stormbox pro at 100 USD.
It really looks like the DSP is doing absolutely nothing (if it has a DSP in the first place), the very round frequency response is proof of that since that's the natural frequency shape drivers have (that then the DSP reshapes to make it flatter). What a shame

Hello Alan, great review as always. I sadly I have to return Motion Boom because there isn't enough clear highs (e.g Hi-Hat and cymbals) for me even with EQ tunning. But for background music or party this speaker is awesome. I want to buy Aiwa Exos-9 which should be the best sound quality speaker with strong bass under 360$. I know it's price of 3-3,5x Motiom Boom. Do you know this speaker please? I am finding the best value for price speaker with clear highs+mids and strong+deep bass (max 6kg.)

But I am using Aiwa only outdoors and the more I listen Aiwa the more I am missing that great deep bass from JBL Partybox 100 I had before Aiwa,Charge4 and Motion Boom. I am currently decided to sell my Aiwa and buy Partybox 110 which has enhanced treble quality (possible to better even than Aiwa but not tested yet). I received also response from JBL team that they are working on bass boost 1 issue and trying to adjust bass according to PB100 (decrease mid-bass and upper-bass which masks sub-bass and sounds boomy). After that PB110 will be really killer speaker and far the best speaker on the market for me.
I can't find the Pro on Tribit's website anymore. It's really too bad about the sound because everything else about it is very nice. The build is great, battery great. Very low latency. I mean it doesn't sound "terrible", but it's not nearly as good as several other speakers around it's price or lower even. ***this would actually likely be a great speaker if you are wanting something for listening to podcasts or E books or for watching youtube vids (nice low latency)

i would suggest minirig mk3 with its sub. if size is not an issue maybe soundcore trance. on my android these had low latency but also give the option of aux input.
The tribit is a good 360 speaker for outside and a really good sound for me. In your test you compare the soundcore with eq on top... OK but I think the storm pro is good too eventually, with some app android equalizer to control the lack of bass. I know this out of the box it's not as we need "but" the fact is you can have a good bass and pure sound whatever. Excuse for my English... 🤣
Its so strange that these speaker houses do well with some models and miss the mark with others....Tribitt hit a home run with the Blast...and the stormbox 2 (small one NOT the stormbox blast 2) is a great also...but this one missed its mark bigtime...they need to revisit the design and/or technology for the pro its not living up to the standard of their other models
@@alanrossreviews most definitely. I've compared it back and forth with the motion boom for at least 5 different people, and all of them thought the X10 sounded much better. Most commented that it was either clearer sounding or Fuller. None of these people are audiophiles obviously, but represent the average buyer.

Anyways I have a Taga Harmony system paired with a Yamaha HTR 3072 for home audio so I guess portable speakers are intended to be played outdoors. I would really appreciate it if you could consider recording sound outdoors as well. Also, in India the Stormbox pro is cheaper and mostly available as compared to Motion Plus. yes earbud eq would boost bass. my pro is awful.

Not on the newer firmware but it can be flaky and do that. 95% of the time its fine. Just keep screenshots of your eq 👍

its hard to know what to make of the pro! not just the average sound but the over the top marketing and yet some people clearly love this speaker.

Motion + isn't "bass heavy" but it has pretty good bass. But with it's nifty EQ app you can juice up the mids and highs to your hearts content...

The only true budget 2.1 portable bluetooth speaker I know of that has true active deep bass woofer is the old Doss Soundbox XL. Hope you can review it and compare to newer models with deep bass.

Here in the US is still been waiting for a coupon so I don’t have to pay full price on the soundcore products I’ve only been looking for a few months.
I know this speaker is amid heavy nightmare but it's currently on sale and it's one of the only few speakers which has a big ass Loop and aptx. I'm hoping I can EQ it well enough.

It is obviously trying to mimic the form factor. Any chance you can compare the two and see. I know the Bose Revolve+ is a much older speaker (5 years maybe) but it is still a fantastic speaker - I would love to know how they compare as I am sure would others. Any thoughts?

I actually chose to get the StormBox Pro over the Motion Boom. For 2 reasons. 1st being the form factor. I’m not a fan of the Boom aesthetically. Also, I wanted a speaker that was multidirectional and loud so I could bring on picnics and/or the beach. 2nd reason was the price. I was able to cop the SBP for $70, which I thought was good deal. With all that said I was slightly disappointed with the sound coming SBP. First Tribit speaker to do that and I have all their speakers. I guess I should’ve copped the Motion Boom after all 😕
BTW, supposedly the upgraded The Tribit MaxSound Plus will be coming out mid summer 😊

Confused between stormbox pro and maxsound plus. Price isn’t an issue but I’d surely like bang for a buck!
My use case would be mostly indoors, maybe 2 house parties a year. Only use outdoors would be new year’s at my terrace with a gathering of 20 odd people.

Getting maxsound plus at 52 USD, stormbox pro at 100 USD.
Neither of these will be good for a party, consider the motion plus or motion boom for deeper bass

It really looks like the DSP is doing absolutely nothing (if it has a DSP in the first place), the very round frequency response is proof of that since that's the natural frequency shape drivers have (that then the DSP reshapes to make it flatter). What a shame

It needs to challenge the charge 5 (more sub-bass). Motion boom is too big

I sadly I have to return Motion Boom because there isn't enough clear highs (e.g Hi-Hat and cymbals) for me even with EQ tunning. But for background music or party this speaker is awesome. I want to buy Aiwa Exos-9 which should be the best sound quality speaker with strong bass under 360$. I know it's price of 3-3,5x Motiom Boom. Do you know this speaker please? I am finding the best value for price speaker with clear highs+mids and strong+deep bass (max 6kg.)

I own Exos 9 and recommend it strongly. A fantastic sounding speaker.
I own an exos 9 myself and it's a very good speaker. I haven't heard many compare unless you get in the 500 or more range.
@@justingalasso1850Hello, I bought Aiwa 3 months ago and can confirm that sound quality is excellent. But I am using Aiwa only outdoors and the more I listen Aiwa the more I am missing that great deep bass from JBL Partybox 100 I had before Aiwa,Charge4 and Motion Boom.
I am currently decided to sell my Aiwa and buy Partybox 110 which has enhanced treble quality (possible to better even than Aiwa but not tested yet). I received also response from JBL team that they are working on bass boost 1 issue and trying to adjust bass according to PB100 (decrease mid-bass and upper-bass which masks sub-bass and sounds boomy).
After that PB110 will be really killer speaker and far the best speaker on the market for me.
I can't find the Pro on Tribit's website anymore. It's really too bad about the sound because everything else about it is very nice. The build is great, battery great. Very low latency. I mean it doesn't sound "terrible", but it's not nearly as good as several other speakers around it's price or lower even.
***this would actually likely be a great speaker if you are wanting something for listening to podcasts or E books or for watching youtube vids (nice low latency)

But I do sometimes like having a speaker like this for listening to that sort of thing that I can move from room to room with me. Although at full price it's not a good value for that certainly. The micro is great for that too...

i would suggest minirig mk3 with its sub. if size is not an issue maybe soundcore trance. on my android these had low latency but also give the option of aux input.
The tribit is a good 360 speaker for outside and a really good sound for me. In your test you compare the soundcore with eq on top... OK but I think the storm pro is good too eventually, with some app android equalizer to control the lack of bass. I know this out of the box it's not as we need "but" the fact is you can have a good bass and pure sound whatever. Excuse for my English... 🤣

Its so strange that these speaker houses do well with some models and miss the mark with others....Tribitt hit a home run with the Blast...and the stormbox 2 (small one NOT the stormbox blast 2) is a great also...but this one missed its mark bigtime...they need to revisit the design and/or technology for the pro its not living up to the standard of their other models

@@alanrossreviews most definitely. I've compared it back and forth with the motion boom for at least 5 different people, and all of them thought the X10 sounded much better. Most commented that it was either clearer sounding or Fuller. None of these people are audiophiles obviously, but represent the average buyer.

My brother purchased a pair of Soundcore motion plus and it is just so perfect for home audio, it was just perfect.
I tried playing them outside and they started to lose steam. I watched many of your videos, especially this one many times and decided to buy myself a pair of Stormbox pro. It is as if you're playing a concert setup outdoors.
Anyways I have a Taga Harmony system paired with a Yamaha HTR 3072 for home audio so I guess portable speakers are intended to be played outdoors. I would really appreciate it if you could consider recording sound outdoors as well.
Also, in India the Stormbox pro is cheaper and mostly available as compared to Motion Plus.
