Love the Honda Element. It's the perfect car for anyone with a sense of adventure. My son was going to buy one years ago but he had a need to be able to fit three in the back, so the plastic center section unfortunately ruled it out. It's too bad they did that with the US version. He ended up getting a Scion XB. You're smart trying to preserve your Element for as long as you can. Even if it ever did return I don't think it would have the pillarless door opening anymore due to increased safety demands on vehicles these days. Toyota recently removed the swing out rear door on the Access Cab Tacoma pickup to achieve better crash test results and now it's just like the old extra cab that was difficult to get into the back. Pity. So take good care of that car. I'm sure it will last you a good long time still. It's well worth keeping it going.
Same here! I honestly feel like they wouldn't be able to make it the same or at least with all its features. I can see it come back as a electric car but I'm sure it would have a hefty price tag lol
Thanks man! This was very helpful. Subscribed. Just bought a 2004 AWD Honda Element EX a week ago. Love it. It's in mint condition. Looks new. Just exploring the different elements of it. I'll be watching some of your other videos.
I did a lot of the same mods. I keep the roof net, tailgate net, hood deflector, and I added a heavier rubber floor which makes it much quieter on the highway. Also did a dash cover, but did the backup cam style to keep it discrete.
I like your tip on the heavier rubber floor mat to make it quieter on the highways. How are you liking your dash cover and back up camera ? I've been wanting to get a dash cover.
Hey Stephen 👋 Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. I m bummed my wife and I can't make it to the camp out yall having. Definitely will try for the next one want to work more with you guys 😁
I still have my ‘08 SC, low miles, all stock OEM and i love it. Two things i don’t like: 1. Gas mileage sucks 2. It’s getting hard to find parts. Even Honda doesn’t make a lot of them anymore. I may have to sell my Element simply because i may not be able to maintain it if there are no replacement parts.
I feel you on that! We went to the American Honda Hall Collection and Honda heard us out by our concerns on lack of parts. Hopefully thry can consider making more parts.
@TimGowTV thank you so much! You have no idea how happy we get to hear messages like this. You know at one point we almost sold our element when I was financially struggling.
Mine is a 04’ EX in orange. Bought used with 140,000. I swapped out the stock gauge lights for LED in ice blue per Element Lifestyle. Big difference! Also the dome and map lights. Then I got all exterior LED lights. The headlamps are tricky not to be aimed too high. I got the Element seat covers, like yours, expensive, but nice. I had to buy an Amazon roof rack for my canoe, cheap, the rubber boots don’t fit perfect, but it’s solid and works fine. I removed the plastic roof garnish bits, underneath was full of pine needles and crap, gave it a wax and reinstalled. Even the skylight drain holes were plugged. I saw a video where the guy pulls out his rear seats, and swapped right for left and installed them to face backward, for lounging. Alex Kolipinski on RUclips. Fun cars, I can’t believe I didn’t buy one sooner. Cheers from Chicagoland!
Glad to know I'm not the only who thinks that way. Thanks for watching by the way we appreciate you taking the time out of your day to leave a comment it really helps us out.
Thank you for the tour of your element, I learned about how to lift up the rear seats you demonstrated. So much room back there,I have the same one you have . My husband wants me to sell it because it has reached over 250K miles. He recently replaced the transmission and the front/cv boot axle. The ac compressor has gone out too this is our 2nd year no ac. Also my catalytic converter got stolen in 2020 while I was in the grocery store in the daytime, it sounded like a Harley Davidson when I started it up.
Hi thank you for your kind comment. He's my delema with the element. I love our car but at times I find myself wanting to sell it for something else but then I always realize how much I will miss driving this car. It really is one of a kind.
@Brian Thompson I know hopefully soon we can plan something out again. We are kind of far from each other, otherwise I would detail your E all the time 😊
Love this info. I’m wanting to get seat covers for the front seats but don’t won’t to lose my back pockets and bungee cord area. Can you please let me know if those accessories can still be used if I get those seat covers you have installed? Thanks.
In 06 I bought a new ElementEXP. No I didn’t try to modify of live in it. It was always a Unh when ever I saw one. I guess I talked myself into it but I bought one. To me it was a SUV with a Civic trim level. Very basic. Get a light tap on the front bumperetts and the bracket will poke through the rubber. It had a very , yes very soft ride. Mileage was that of my 08’Caddy that I bought next. Very very basic interior, perhaps to basic for me. It is what it is.🏖️
Same it's nice for the space nothing special inside or out but has definitely been a reliable car. I think it's the better boxy car out there I'm my opinion.
@ReadySetElement We inherited a 2004 Honda Element with 130,O00 miles from my father in law. We always loved it. He alone drove it and more than half of the miles were highway. He was extremely good about maintenance. The only problem was a leak which he had silicone sealed around the roof antenna. We took it to a body shop to learn the entire roof and door panel were rusted inside where you can’t see it. Told it’s a manufactured flaw around the seal. I don’t really understand that as my husband spoke to the body shop man. Was told no parts are available. My husband wants to try to do something himself now that he’s retired. Do you know anything about this issue. We love the vehicle and want to pass it along to our grown daughter eventually.
I checked out the seat covers over on Amazon and saw this: "Cannot be used with seats with side airbags" Looking at your seats and where the covers sit, I don't see a problem using them. Can you comment on that please?
I've seen so many elements with these Seat covers. I don't think you should have an issue. Almost every element meet up I've been to I've seen people with these covers.
I got it when I was doing mobile detailing and it's perfect. The only thing is mpg isn't the greatest but it can be converted so easily for your needs.
We have this and a Toyota van. Donating our wonderful Honda van to an animal rescue group. Of the three, any would work for your business. You’d have more space in the mini van but the Element might work. I need to point out that parts are an issue with the Element. Parts are readily available for both of our vans. I believe our friend’s animal rescue will be better off with the Honda Odyssey for that reason, although the floor is carpeted. It can be covered. You need to consider that in your future use.
I ended up here as I was reminiscing about my previous cars including the 2005 Element and all the versatility. This video is just great, you seem like a great person and I enjoy how much you appreciate and love your car. Cheers!
One of the nicest comments I have ever received. Thank you I wanted to be honest and I am glad you enjoyed. I'm sure you had great adventures in your Honda Element.
The AVS brand was very easy to install in my opinion its definitely worth it. I wish I could of done it sooner. My poor Hood has so many dings from the road 😢
For travel I ditch the unused seats, and got an oversized rubber floor mat I trimmed to fit. Keeps things from sliding around and makes the cabin much quieter on long highway drives. Thinking about getting some 17's from an accord next to help the gearing a bit without a huge sidewall. I've slept in the back seats or on a foam mattress on top of em, or a blow up when the seats are out.
@@nobodynoone2500 Thank you for sharing, this is so helpful. I always wonder what other people do when traveling. I had bought some 17 inch wheels from a 2015 accord EX but had trouble with the fitting I had them on the element for a few months but the ride was more rough. I ended up going back to the 16's and got the wildpeaks instead. I should have gotten wider tires like a 235 instead of the 215s but they are still good.
I have a daughter who still needs a carseat. We make sure we all pack a bag each. Husband, my daughter and myself. To sleep we fold the seats up, put her car seat in the passenger seat with our bags on top. If any other big/bulky items need to be brought they go on top of the car as we have a rack. We have padded mats we lay down, then covers. We sleep comfortably.
Where the seat belts that were connected to the seats comfortable? I used to have an 06 element and the one thing I liked about the seatbelt on the door was that it had the height adjustment. And I didn't mind taking it off to let somebody out of the back I if I wasn't getting out myself.
Well then maybe that’s why I like it. Several inches under five feet. BUT my father in law was 6’5 and he and my 6’ husband like the high ceiling. Headroom is important to them. And there’s lots of adjustment for long legs or short ones!

Me too! Felt I needed it all! I pack 3 different ways for camping: car camping, climbing, backpacking. It’s a money pit for sure, but in a good way
I did a lot of the same mods. I keep the roof net, tailgate net, hood deflector, and I added a heavier rubber floor which makes it much quieter on the highway. Also did a dash cover, but did the backup cam style to keep it discrete.

What products did you end up using for your floor? I would love to quiet mine down!
If you fold the rear seats and push the front seats forward, you could put a twin mattress. I bet that is the reason you have the rear moon roof
We have put a twin mattress in the back and it fits perfectly lol 😆
Dude! Such a great video! Back to basics is where it's at. Nice to hear how much you enjoy your E and appreciate it for what it is!

Our 2004 Element is perfect for moving the kayak and other small boats and for taking dogs to the beach. Easy clean up inside.

Gasoline is not kinda expensive, it's unnecessarily HIGH...you know why.
Gas just went up in my area at $6.50
