The all new reference premiere gen II is here! We've got the whole line ready to do some unboxing, testing, and comparing. We've covered the RP-500M II, the RP-600M II, the RP-502S II, the RP-500C, the RP-504C, and the RP-500SA. At last...here we are with the 8000F II. Not only are we unboxing these but, with that new cabinet design, gotta take em apart and see the new internals as well. What's changed? What's the same? Let's see!

I bought a new rp II system around the RP 6000F2 since my theater is smaller with a low ceiling. Love the setup so much, including the ATMOS. I do wonder how different the 8000 would compare to the 6000. Regardless, I love the Rp II stuff.

Plastic auto trim tools are made for this kind of disassembly. They come in various shapes and sizes. Kits from Amazon are cheap if you plan to do this sort thing often. Much stronger than guitar picks but slim enough to fit.

I am somewhat excited about listening to it, I have gen 1.. Loudspeaker engineers do not recommend placing the port directly behind a bass/mid driver, especially not on a 2-way, due to piping sounds from the midrange through the port

Wonder if it is worth double the cost for the new ones, I may just go for the older ones because it seems to me all they really did is add the potential for dolby atmos.

@@salikali2 Not true at all. Several significant differences. Completely redesigned internal cabinet, added another port, additional bracing. Crossover is changed. Tweeter horn is changed for a wider stage. Woofer is redesigned to be tighter and punchier. External cabinet cosmetics are slightly changed. In no way is it the same as the gen 1 8000F. BTW - the gen 2 is on sale now. Less than $400 difference. Seems like a no brainer.
So looks like we currently we have the RP-280F for 349.00 each, RP-8000F for 429.00 each and the RP-8000F 2 for 899.00.
I am upgrading to the second generation! I am looking forward to your review of them
I heard them in a studio near me - and the difference between Gen I and Gen II was surprisingly big in my opinion

Pretty awesome and needed upgrades on this new line. It has me asking why they did everything and left the crossover as a 2-way? A 2.5 way design would be real nice.
Honestly can't speak to that not being inside the engineers minds. Can say they sound awesome as is though.

I cannot wait for your next upload anymore!! 😅 Any comparison between the last and new generation will be great, but what really keeps me awake: how does the shorter and closed 404c II compare? Are these changes so significant that one should rather buy the 504c II if you have the space it needs?
Thanks for watching! The plan as of right now is, a quick review of the system as a whole, followed by the 504 generational compare, then the 8000 generational compare.
As for your other question, I am a huge supporter of bigger is better in the center channels. While this isn't always true, in most cases it seems to be. If you have the space, go with the 504. If you are limited on space, the smaller units are a good compromise and are not a disappointment by any stretch of the word but...if you have the space...504 for the win!

The story began on 2015 when Klipsch broke the mold and launched the RP series; first I went with the 250s and loved how the high frequency brightness (typical in the R series) was not there, a year after I went for the 280s and, THANKS TO PADUCAH CHANNEL, I recently went for a major upgrade to the Forte IVs, I really wanted the Cornwalls but my listening room is only 11’6” so the Fortes fit a lot better; they sound amazing!

As usual great video, I agree the cabinet is an upgrade and they look cleaner too the binding is a nice touch too I don't believe in that kind of Atmos system I may be wrong but I believe that if you want sound coming from the sealing you need speakers up there just my opinion
Thanks for watching! As for the reflective atmos - *if* someone has the correct ceiling/placement/positioning, they actually do an amazing job. Had a set myself and rocked em for a couple of years. That said, when I moved, I had a different style ceiling and they were a not go. Had to sell em. They are for sure impressive but, again, you need the correct placement and structure.

@@TopShelfAudio they need specific seiling ,my seiling is not good for that, but it's really better than having the speaker up,my room is my bedroom so I had to tweak a lot because is small too but I did manage to get a 7.2.4 I pulled the bed out and used the smallest speakers satellites which I hate that kind of speakers M1s for the rear surround and I have them 4inc behind me and used the same a pair of m1s for in seiling like middle and DM 302 bookshelves as front heights tilted down and it came out quite good, there is a scene in the last episode of godless wind and dust it's like I'm there sound coming from everywhere
Hello I have a question is the only way I can get good information I told I got the RP 8000f I got them for 700€ each 1400 € a pair and 650€ the RP 504c and to swap just the new RP 8000 will maybe cost me 5 or 600 € more and scene I can't just go and hear them myself because here we have non of that here we buy blindly or find a good channel like yours and learn so the next best thing is to ask someone that Heard them himself so is it worth an extra 600€ to get the new RP 8000f 2 are that much better to justify getting them extra 600€,I was thinking to get the new 504 but I jus can't sorry for the long message

Honestly, I'm not sure yet. I have heard them independently but not side by side just yet. Hold out for one or two more weeks and we will be doing a side by side compare video between old and new gen. From there we will be giving our opinions on this. Stay tuned. I recently got a pair of used rp-280 fa speakers. Don’t know much about them. Where were they in the klipsch line up at the time they were made?
What did you use to take the speaker binding area out I tried Allen wrench no go that looks like a screw driver but the bolts don’t look like screws please help I have a loose positive biding post and I wanna see if I can fix it
The Atmos footprint should match the top of the Floorstanding speaker to give it a seamless look.
If you must have it on top then the FA Which comes with a 6inch woofer with a much cleaner look.
Appearance wise, yes, it tends to look better this way. Performance wise though, the toppers do great in most scenarios. It also adds a bit of flexibility setup wise, as well as budget wise because you can add later if desired.

Hi. With an amplifier which gives 140 watts rms at 8ohms, how to connect this tower speaker and Atmos. Can 140 watts drive both speakers as shown here. Please reply.

I have the RP-250 F. Why would they choose to place the logo at the bottom of the grills of these newer models?
Honestly, I like the new look. Personal preference will vary from person to person though. I can see why one would want the logos in the old location as well.

I want to run these along with the 504C series 2 for the front. Would you recommend more RP-8000's for the rear or the RP-600 bookshelf rear speakers?
Depends on you and your personal preference. I am of the bigger is better mindset personally but, as surrounds only, it's possible they won't ever be reaching their full potential. In most cases, as surrounds, the 600s will be perfect. That said, you also will never be left wanting more if you go with the 8000s. In the end though, your call. Both will perform great in almost any scenario.

Hi i have a yamaha tsr700/rx-v6a powering my current system with rp600m as my left and rights. Just wondering if i should think about upgrading my receiver if i upgrade to these new rp8000f v2’s
That receiver is great for your 600ms but I would consider upgrading with the 8000s. While it will work, you won't reach the 8000s full potential with that receiver.

I bought a pair of Klipsch RP-8000F II 3 days ago and when attaching to my amp with MIT cables broke the threaded part of the banded black post. I see you removed that post assembly and wonder how difficult it is to replace one of the posts. Also what size banana plugs would wocan be used to make it easier to attach? Thanks
Thanks for watching! You can actually pick up replacement posts online for fairly low cost. If you are uncomfortable replacing just the post, you can give Klipsch a call and they may have a replacement input cup available for purchase. It's not a huge undertaking if you are comfortable working on your own gear.

I'd make a bigger jump to the rf-7iii if possible but that's just me.
Any idea if the crossover network has been upgraded to configure the speaker as a 2.5 way design?
Honestly not sure. They haven't mentioned it being a 2.5 but, sometimes it is and it's not listed as such. If I hear more, I will get back to you but for now, have to assume its just a 2 way design as listed.

I have the RP 8000F II, since yesterday. I connected atmos speakers on top and they are working but the RP’s are not. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
The top channels will need a dedicated amp channel to them/two connected channels per speaker. Do you have a height channel connected to heights, as well as the main amp channels connected to the lower terminals on the back?

In your honest opinion would I need a Sub with these for metal music while running a vintage receiver for a 2.0 setup?
"need" is relative. They'll reproduce most everything in the recording, especially in a smaller room. However some bass heads enjoy separate subs due to the ability to run them like 6-8 db hot.
Can you please do a comparison between these and the rp280F speakers?
280f's are discontinued and are old, I don't really have any interest in hunting some down.
Can someone please put these on a Klippel lol, I'm really curious to see the results of the changes they've made. It appears the bookshelves were greatly improved so I imagine these are also, but the original 8000F was already very good, unlike the original 600m.
Improving on the already awesome! While we won't be pulling any official data on these right now, we will be doing a listening compare here shortly. Stay tuned for that and let us know what you think. :)

Thanks for watching! Sonically they will match great. The 64 is a bit beefier and you can push it a bit harder so, we see a lot of people upgrading the center first for dialog centric usage if they feel the 504 is lacking.

I am still waiting for Klipsch to send me a replacement 8000f woofer after mine somehow got a tiny but annoying dent in it; been waiting since March 2022 for them to send it; bad customer service from them. I have watched videos on taking out the woofer and seen everyone uses a screwdriver and cloth, have you ever tried to use a credit card instead? seems to me it might be less liable to damage the cabinet. If and when Klipsch send me my part, I will let you know how my disasembally went.
Thanks for watching! Having personally worked in Klipsch customer service several years back and still knowing much of the team there today I can say, it's not the customer service team that's bad. It's that the parts are genuinely unavailable. These last couple of years have been pretty messy for the supply chain. I'm sure they are doing the best they can to get you the part.
I have tried several options but never a credit card. conceptually it would be similar to the guitar pick others have suggested. Somewhat malleable plastic and should work well! I still recommend wrapping in a light cloth of some kind though as, it can still scratch the paint. Good luck with your replacement when it arrives! Hope if goes smoothly!

I contacted the secondary company that is supplying the place I bought from with the spare part, I got an email last week from Henley audio to say the part should be in the UK by the end of this month. I really hope so because 2 and a half months it wil be 12 months waiting. I will let you know how it went when I finally get the part and attempt to swap it over.

Enough to get em moving and sounding good, yeah. If you want them to really reach their full potential, you may want something a bit beefier or possibly a dedicated separate amp for your mains.

I have a question for anyone who might possibly know. Why don't speaker manufacturers make speaker towers with 10 inch drivers anymore?

How do I wire these if I have the Dolby Atmos speakers resting on top of these? There are three connections on the back and I have no idea where wires go and which ones connect to my amp. Please help :)
You'll connect your toppers to the top connector holes in the the 8000s using the supplied cables. On the bottom of the 8000, you'll then connect where it says "height" to the height/atmos channel on your amp. Where it says "main" on the 8000s, unless biamping, youll leave the jumpers in place and connect your amp to one of the positives and one of the negatives there. hope this helps!

Klipsch really has been banging it out of the park. Seems like these are working their way up to replace the older RF-7 line. Wish they would do 2 x 8 inch woofers, a 6.5 mid and then the tweeter. Glad that Klipsch is getting to a more neutral sound.
This new generation is super impressive! I'm finishing up my review of the system as a whole to launch this Saturday and, after a couple weeks of listening...really struggling to find anything negative to say. It's an awesome new system.

@@TopShelfAudio Excellent, I have put it on my calendar to look for it Sunday. Eager to hear it as My RP-280F still feel a little bright on the high end, although better than the RF-35 they replaced. I am holding off until later this year as I want to try and hear the new line, and am comparing them to the Martin Logan 40i and Polk R700
You can hear the driver basket ringing just by manipulating it in your hands

Love these comments. Yes...it makes a sound when you tap it with a screwdriver or swipe a hand on it. This is especially notable when leaning over top of it and the mic is only a few inches away. I'm sure if the basket were a different material, you could hit it with a hammer and it wouldn't make a noise.

Stamped steel drivers, yikes. They certainly focus on making them cheap!

@@TopShelfAudio buy once cry once, better to buy quality instead of cheap and have to upgrade later. I’m sure they sound ok but it’s not much more expensive to use quality parts, the vented spider and pole piece is a good design and it looks like a nice driver but you’ll have a resonance in the basket when it’s so thin, and it’ll be audible. They put all of that poly fill behind it to mask it but that will over dampen the cabinet (port velocity), just moving the problem from one area to another. The crossover looks better than the last one, but still super thin gauge on the inductors and sandcast resisters. The Polk r700 are better made for the price and probably do sound significantly better as a result. I haven’t heard the new klipsch but I have the old and I like them but for the money there are better options.
I am not sure how much it matters honestly. I used to think it really did and now I own speakers costing 5-6 times the price of these Klipsch and build much better too…. And when I hook the Klipsch up to my McIntosh gear and highpass them at 60hz they sound pretty good.
Compared to high dollar stuff I own I feel the RP8000F lacks bass definition (fixed by high passing subs as I do with everything anyway) and some mid range clarity. The highs are very good though.
I have a feeling the new crossover will fix some of the mid range clarity and the box bracing might clean up the bass a bit.
Was going to buy, but not impressed with what I see in this video, looks like too many money saving on things that are not that expensive to include.

Very cheap crossover parts
Though it still has poly caps and air core inductors, other than for the mid/bass woofers. If you add boutique components, such as what GR research provides, it would likely add a few hundred dollars to the price. That price difference changes what it would compete with.
They are designed to hit a specific price point and make them attainable to a larger crowd. That said, function being the primary goal here...have you heard them or are you just commenting based on a pre-conceived notion that more expensive/bells and whistles is always better?
